Wishing you could take a break from everything? Let go until manana, and head for the sandy shore of beachfront Barcelo Puerto Vallarta. The all inclusive resort, located between a tropical jungle and the Pacific, offers sublime views only 15 minutes from downtown Puerto Vallarta; close enough to see the sights, but far enough that the crowds won't stress you out! The resort's stretch of beautiful Mismaloya Beach was the location for the Richard Burton film, Night of the Iguana, and is a favorite of families thanks to the gentle waves.

We LOVE the Barcelo Puerto Vallarta resort!
This is our second straight year staying at the Barcelo Puerto Vallarta and we LOVE it! We got an excellent package deal via Cheap Caribbean (non-stop flights to/from Seattle on Alaska Airlines, shuttles to/from the airport, and then a great stay at the Barcelo Puerto Vallarta), the weather was wonderful (sunny and 82 degrees every day, with only a bit of clouds the day we arrived and the day we went home). Wonderful pools, an excellent beach, beautiful and comfortable rooms, a great Kid's Club (for ages 5-12... Great activities every day!), and great food. What more could you ask for? The Puerto Vallarta Zoo is just about 1-mile up a dirt/concrete road through a small town, and it a lot of fun. Make sure to purchase a bag of food to feed the animals. Also, if you are up for some "adventure", make sure to sign up for the Los Veranos Canopy Tour! You can register online before you leave home. Then, on your scheduled day, you take a taxi from the front of the hotel about 5-10 minutes south to the Le Kliff restaurant (80 pesos/ $6-$7 dollars as of April, 2012). That's where you meet the Los Veranos shuttle to whisk you up into the jungle to their property on a great river there. The staff is warm, funny, and welcoming and VERY focused on safety. This was a great first experience for our family at ziplining. My wife and I really enjoyed it, and our 6-year old son LOVED it (you have to be at least 6). They bring you back to your hotel for free. We definitely recommend the Barcelo Puerto Vallarta resort and Cheap Caribbean!
JAMES AT CHEAP CARIBBEAN WAS EXTREMELY HELPFULL IN HELPING US PLAN OUR TRIP. WE BOOKED IT 5 DAYS BEFORE LEAVING AT A GREAT PRICE. THE TRIP ITSELF WAS AMAZING AND WE WOULD RECCOMEND BOOKING THROUGH CHEAP CARIBBEAN TO ANYONE. WE ARE ALREADY LOOKING FOR GREAT NEW DEALS FOR OUR NEXT TRIP!
My husband and I stayed at Barcelo Peurto Vallarta to celebrate our 3rd wedding anniversary. We were upgraded to the Romance package and given a beautiful ocean view room on the top floor. We also received a bottle of champagne and petit fors in our room upon arrival, as well as 25% off a massage in the spa (which was wonderful I must admint). The staff of Barcelo was outstanding, the accomadations were first rate and the food in the restaurants was superior. All in all we had a wonderful vacation experience, and plan on visiting other Barcelo resorts in our future travels.
Definitely a 5 Palms experience. Thanks Barcelo and staff for a simply wonderful experience.
This place is really nice. There are 4 pools, a swim up bar, waterfalls, a water slide, and water volleyball. The room was really nice too and well maintained. The suite was huge for the two of us, you could easily fit a family in there. The buffet was just okay. Beautiful views but the food was just okay. Their restaurants though were really great. We learned a little secret while there, if you go to the reservation desk after 3pm you can make a reservation for a nice dinner without using one of the coupons they give you. This allowed us to eat well 3 nights even though we only had two coupons. The negatives...even though they say tip is included, plan on tipping. If you don't, do not expect good service or any attention. We spent about $300 tipping over the course of 5 days. Also, this is really far out there from town. This was nice for our romantic honeymoon, but made it difficult to go to town. Also, it's hard booking excursions, I think probably because you are so far from town. We booked snorkeling through the hotel and the tour guides never showed up. There are plenty of people on the beach offering to take you out, but it was hard to know who to trust. We ended up just lounging by the pool instead.

Is it only "all-inclusive" at Barcelo Mismaloya?,. With all the gourmet restaurants close to the downtown, and even the palapa restsurants next door, I'd prefer it not "all inclusive".

The Barcelo is sold strictly as an All Inclusive resort. You can absolutely travel off property, however all of your meals and beverages are included in the pricing for this resort. There are a number of other resorts in the area, however, which are not All Inclusive. These can be found by using the gold "Create Your Own Vacation" box, selecting your dates of travel, departure city, and "No Meals" under the Meal Plan option.

They do offer the all-inclusive as extra. But I would totally recommend the all-inclusive plan. Amazing food from 4 different choices (plus an extra for snacks), and downtown is about a 30-35 min drive.

I believe other hotels/resorts offer all-inclusive packages as well. If you choose to stay at Barcelo, I don't think you have to choose the all-inclusive package.
Barroness
No, it is not only all inclusive all the Barcelo Mismaloya. We did the all inclusive, but they had pricing available for those who did not purchase the all inclusive package. In fact, I believe that is why they limit the a la carte restaurant reservations for the all inclusive folks. I thought the prices were a bit steep though! For example, I believe I remember seeing the buffet price once at around $30 U.S...I just know I remember thinking the all inclusive was definitely worth it.
Martinst
yes it is only all inclusive
sunburned
Any Barcelo provides no inclusive if you ask for it.
spokoDTW
Yes, it is all-inclusive only. ...and the food is great. PLUS... It's at least a 15-20 drive (each way) to downtown. If you want to spend most of your time in the Romantic District (as we have in the past and had a GREAT time), then you'll want to choose a hotel in that area. It wouldn't be fun going back and forth!

Barcelo Puerto Vallarta: All Inclusive Family Fun on Beautiful Mismaloya Beach
Wishing you could take a break from everything? Let go until manana, and head for the sandy shore of beachfront Barcelo Puerto Vallarta. The all inclusive resort, located between a tropical jungle and the Pacific, offers sublime views only 15 minutes from downtown Puerto Vallarta; close enough to see the sights, but far enough that the crowds won't stress you out! The resort's stretch of beautiful Mismaloya Beach was the location for the Richard Burton film, Night of the Iguana, and is a favorite of families thanks to the gentle waves.
Lounge on the beach while the kids build sandcastles or spend time at each of the four, lushly landscaped pools, complete with waterfalls, for a jungle experience. Need quiet time? The two Jacuzzis are for adults only! When you can't ignore the delicious smells any longer, tackle the five dining options. Thick cuts of steak with a Mexican twist are the rage at Los Arcos, and kids enjoy the authentic Spanish tapas at Don Quijote. Catch a dance show after dinner, courtesy of the entertainment team, belt your lungs out at karaoke or try La Cantina Bar where you can get the party started with tequila shots.
Don't party too hard, though, or you'll sleep through the Barcelo Puerto Vallarta all inclusive perks: kayaking, snorkeling or a game of water volleyball. Kids get to have their fun, too, at Barcy Mini Club where balloon fights, pinatas and treasure hunts keep them active, while you master Spanish verbs or take a salsa class. Since the jungle is so close, think about the zip-line excursions through the canopy for a thrilling adventure. Want something slower? Barcelo's U spa has a passion-fruit wrap that leaves your skin feeling hydrated and fresh.
Contemporary comfort is the name of the game in the 316, tastefully decorated suites. Marble showers and fully stocked mini bars give couples a relaxing way to end the night in the Junior Suite Deluxe. Need room for the family? We recommend the two-bedroom Family Suite Deluxe for sleeping in spacious style.
