Horrible stay away
This hotel was a complete horrible from the moment I walked in. The room was filthy, outdated, and had a musty smell. It was clear the room hadn’t been properly cleaned—dust everywhere, stains on the furniture, and the bathroom looked like it hadn’t been scrubbed in weeks. The bed was unbelievably uncomfortable. To top it off, I found hairs on the sheets, which made it clear they hadn’t been changed. I had to call housekeeping, and even then, it still felt gross staying there. The place feels neglected. The pools were cold, the “hot tub” wasn’t even warm, and the beach chairs were dirty and scattered. The hotel looks beautiful online, but it’s a scam. Nothing was as shown, and it felt like staying in a rundown motel. Do yourself a favor and avoid this place. I wish I had. Total waste of money and an awful experience!

Had fun, but can't recommend this resort
Most importantly, I had a great time with 5 friends. The grounds were lovely (beach, pool, etc), the rooms were nice enough, but the food options were limited and their customer service practices were awful. My group experienced some significant problems in a number of areas, and trying to get compensated after the fact was a horror (I ultimately had to go way up the ladder in Marriott's corporate system for help). This resort does NOT follow through on what it's supposed to do, and what it says it will do. This was not a cheap stay and I recommend others spend their money and vacation time elsewhere.

Amazing time
Please ignore the negative reviews, if you are going to Turtle Beach go with an open mind. Yes this Hotel is a little tired. They work hard to keep it clean and maintain the gardens . However its the people that make this Hotel amazing and fun .The beach is beautiful, the sea is warm, the staff are friendly ,you need to engage with them and be kind to them and they will do everything they can to make your stay the best it can be ,they make this place worth a visit .The Bajan bus tour is a must! A great way to see the island and get local insights of the area, great stops that have amazing views. Relax and you will chill out quickly, if you are stuffy then do not go, The food is good , always lots to choose from. We have been to many Caribbean islands and we found the Bajan people the most friendly of all. Even on the day we left they made sure our courtesy room was clean and they were friendly right up to the minute we left .I hope that Marriott keep the staff here as they make this Hotel what it is, without them it would have no soul. Thank you to Miss Roach (the lady in the restaurant with beautiful square glasses and always dressed extremely smart and was soo lovely and kind to us.) Karen Tyrone Maradona Mark Wayde Gillian Randell The ladies who cleaned our room ,it was always spotlessly clean. Thank you to you all for making our stay at Turtle Beach amazing. If I have forgotten anyone, sorry, you were great and we had the best time I hope that Marriott does not change too much ,please do not lose the soul of this lovely Hotel . We hope to return

Shocked Marriott is associated with this resort
I have stayed at Marriott Hotels for 1,000+ nights. What I appreciate about Marriott is that there is a minimum standard for service, food, and appearance of the hotel and rooms whether you are staying at a Courtyard or a JW Marriott. Turtle Beach fell short in all areas. I am shocked that Marriott would associate itself with a resort like Turtle Beach. The food and alcohol is the biggest issue. The food is the worst I have eaten at any hotel/resort. It is so bad we have been eating out and enjoying fantastic meals around Barbados. But when you pay for an AI it would be nice to have an enjoyable meal at the resort when you are paying nearly $1,000 per night. The wine that is included in meals is $7 bottle on-line. Just horrible wine. The staff for the most part is friendly and helpful but many seem to really dislike being here. It’s a mixed bag but not up to Marriott standards The hotel is in need of a major renovation which I understand is happening soon. It is very dated and has lots of maintenance issues. In a positive note it is in a great location and has a nice beach. Lots of potential but really falls short on delivering a great experience.

Nice spot, but looking forward to the renovation
So, there's not much point in commenting on the physical condition of a resort that's about to close to undergo a year of renovations. Suffice to say it is quite obvious that the resort needs them. It does, however, seem that some routine maintenance has been ignored as the resort prepares for its major renovation, which may be understandable but isn't really fair to guests who have been paying full price in the meantime. For the positives, the location is fabulous. The resort sits on an absolutely beautiful beach that is rarely very crowded. And while the pools do need some renovation, they are kept immaculately clean. If you're a larger party that wants to lounge together, you do have to be sure to go down first thing in the morning to play the chair game, but contrary to some reviews I never found any problems getting clean towels. Service was generally quite good, with the occasional exception. Our room was serviced every day without issue. Waitstaff were very friendly, though at times they were obviously overwhelmed, and staffing levels did not always seem adequate to deal with the large holiday season crowd. If you have young children, be aware that none of the dinner options seat before 7 pm, which can be tough on the little ones. That's a policy I'd suggest they reconsider post-renovation. I'd like to give a special shout out to the kids club staff, who were all wonderful. Food is about what you would expect at an AI, which is to say that it was generally fine, but rarely rose above that level. The resort is small for an AI, so restaurant choices are limited. They did vary the menu at the lunch and dinner buffet each day to try and offer a variety of cuisines, and some were executed much better than others. We were there for New Year's Eve, and they did a nice job of making the main dinner buffet festive. Overall, I'd say it a pleasant, friendly resort in a lovely location that is showing its age. I'll be very curious to see what it looks like after the renovation, as it has the potential to be a real gem.
