We were among the last vacationers there right before doors were closed due to COVID19. Staff were working so hard, under challenging circumstances...having to cover so much more ground, knowing their jobs were closing, yet keeping a happy upbeat attitude for all their guests. Understandably, some of the typical activities and perks were stopped, but again, so many of the team members upped their personal attention with an upbeat attitude in spite of knowing they would soon be out of work. My heart goes out to all of them and wish them all the best. As one of my butlers said, he was there when they opened, there when they closed it due to covid19...and he will be there when the doors open again! Folks who made our stay special include, our butlers, Manuel and JJ, poolside servers Abraham and Oscar, culinary team members at Tapeo, Gaucho, Capricho, Helios, sumptori, and Portofino all helped make our dining experiences a delight. The dining show at Sumptori was fun and a great experience for all of us. There were so many who helped make our stay pleasurable, I’m sorry I cannot remember all their names. Last comment is how wonderful the housekeeping team was...very visible and throughout the complex you could see, smell and feel how clean the place was. Probably no different than when we were there last, but added peace of mind having found ourselves traveling during this time. Highly recommend and will return.
Great resort but what is with the horrible smell in the rooms.
We stayed here from Feb. 10-20, 2020. This is our second time at this resort. The food was great especially on the TRS side. I have 2 complaints, The entertainment with the exception of Chic was not very good and our room smelled so bad we were moved to a different room which smelled a little better but as soon as I would walk in the door I had to open the patio doors so I could breath. I think it may be a chemical used to clean the rooms along with a musty smell but nut sure as I couldn't put my finger on it. We traveled with another couple and their room wasn't bad, maybe because it faced south east. Want to do a shout out to the staff as they were all excellent but especially Tomas Bares, he was a bartender on the TRS side and I told him every day that he was the best in all of Mexico. We will be going again but i will be requesting a south east facing room.
Excellent, but remined my of my business trips
The hotel is just fantastic and I can not complain at all, everything was just superb. I was amazed of the food in the TRS Yucatan. The food in TRS Coral was even better : steak had more taste, the lobster was finer, the cocktails were excellent, the wine was top class. Unfortunately the hotel reminded me of my business trips and I missed a "soul". This had nothing to do with the limited number of people present. We were one of the last guests. The shopping mall and restaurants were completely empty. It must be fantastic when the normal number of people are there.
Very nice, but a few improvements needed
I am an experienced frequent traveler to Mexico and adults only resorts. This hotel is very nice but needs a few tweaks. Pool is lovely and lots of chairs and umbrellas which are great when you need shade. Grounds are beautiful and well maintained. You could use a heated jacuzzi here when days are a bit cool. We love a good swim up bar but your bartenders here never cracked a smile. Not even when I tipped. Bartenders make the pool bar fun but not here. Also the only hotel where there were no bar stools in the water at the swim up bar so you had to stand. Shout out to Dante who does an awesome job at the pool! He is truly a gem and you are lucky to have him!! The rooms are nice and spacious but the bathrooms are an epic functional fail. All the ladies at the pool complaining no room to put cosmetics, no shelf space. The over sized sinks while look chic are just a waste of space. What is the purpose of the ottoman in the bathroom? Who ever designed the bathrooms needs to look at the Atelier bathrooms and learn how to design functional space and add some counter space and shelves! Also only hotel that in 30 years that doesn't have an alarm clock so bring your own. And you need to add a few more drawers for clothing. Staff was always friendly and accommodating. We ate lunch at the Grand Palladium buffet which had a great selection. Never a problem getting a quick shuttle back and forth. Chic show was very good but general consensus was it was a bit long. While the appetizers and desserts were good, the meats were not good at all. Fish had little flavor and I couldn't even eat the steak. Talk at the pool the next day was everyone enjoyed it but the food needs kicked up a notch. The waiters were great during the show and gave great service. We found the other shows at Grand Palladium side very enjoyable. The TRS side could use their own coffee shop. Overall a few tweaks would make this a great hotel. Front desk staff was great too! We appreciated everyone's hard work in a making our stay enjoyable. Thank you!
As Palladium Travel Club memebers we have visited several hotels by this chain. This one by far exceeds all of them. The place is incredible. We stayed in the Ambassador swim up room, right by the beach. Very clean and well taken care of hotel. Only problem we had was knowing what was going on every day throughout the resort. Yes there are boards to look at however a full listing on the TV's in the rooms would be extremely helpful when planning our days - we missed a lot of things because we found out later about them.
