Beautiful resort and friendly, caring service.
We arrived on the first day of Secret's re-opening, July 1st. We had the preferred club area all to ourselves as more and more guest arrived later in the week. Prior to arriving we were warmly welcomed by Alain via email who wanted to be sure and anticipate our every need. When we arrived he was right there as we stepped off the shuttle, warmly welcoming us back home (UVC home). Since the Preferred Club was not yet opened, he showed us where to check in and arranged for us, with our baggage, to be golf carted to our room. The room was clean and had an ocean view. Alain had welcome gifts delivered to our room and checked in with us every day to make sure we were enjoying our stay. Caesar, at the preferred club pool, make us feel like celebrities and Estafani was there to bring drinks, food and anticipate every need. What a team!!! The food was great at all the restaurants and the preferred club opened a couple days into our stay. Golf was arranged for us through the concierge desk with a nice discount rate for being preferred club members and staying at Secrets.
July 4th 2020 long weekend
Loved this resort. Social distancing but GREAT fun. Food was great. July 4th partly was wonderful complete with hotdogs and sliders. Other restaurants fantastic good service Look for entertainment crew Ricky, Lucas and Charlie all great time. Thanks to restaurant staff, especially Karen. Definitely going back a very special place.
Best Getaway During COVID-19
I must say I was nervous traveling with my fiancé to Cabo during COVID-19. We really needed to get away and found out that they open July, so we arrived July 1st ready for a relaxing vacation. The staff went over and beyond what we expected for safety and cleanliness. Contact less checkin, everyone had a mask and hand sanitizer. Everything in our room was super clean and vacuum sealed in plastic. Guests are required to wear mask except in the pool and beach area. They spaced out all of the pool and beach lounge chairs so people were not close to each other. We have traveled to many Secrets locations and they always exceed our expectations. Thank you for thinking of the safety of your employees and customers!
Post COVID Stay after re-opening
I checked into Secrets on Wednesday the first day it had been open since March! This was my first time in Cabo and at a Secrets property, but I have stayed at many other all-inclusive properties. First and foremost, the COVID precautions they are taking are just about as good as you can expect. Capacity in the hotel is limited to 30% this month and will likely top off at 50% occupancy for the next few months. 95% of staff are wearing masks and as a guest, you get offered hand sanitizer pretty much every hour including 4 different times during check-in. In other words, they are trying and doing the best that they can. Given the lower occupancy, you can avoid most people if you so choose to. 3 of the 6 buildings are currently closed, so as of now, you are guaranteed something in the preferred club area which includes a jacuzzi on your balcony. The preferred club itself (with some top shelf liquor) is currently closed. Aside from the "nightclub" they have, almost everything else is functioning normally. The best part of this hotel is the property and the staff. The property is well maintained and almost all the staff was very kind, friendly, and professional. Rumor has it that they are working on 50% salary right now too! I enjoyed my time with the entertainment folks playing golf and ping pong and the staff by both pools were quite attentive. Although some staff is new, everyone is trying very hard to be flexible and professional. The pools are fantastic and with the current capacity, not packed. You don't have to fight for chairs for the next few months! I also enjoyed both my meals at the restaurant (Mexican and Hibachi) and had a very good experience with room service. Prices right now are extremely aggressive. I paid about $140/night for 1 person to stay for 2 nights, which was a steal! So for the price, this is a wonderful place. A few things needed minor improvement: some rooms had issues with A/C. Mine had issues with the hot water, ipad and tv, but they replaced or fixed quickly. They have some thick plastic wrapping on some of the items in the room, which is great to keep germs isolated to each guest, but sometimes it is hard to take off to use. (aka, the soap!). They need to put a pair of small scissors in the rooms! Drinks are a mixed bag...not very strong and sometimes very salty. You have to experiment the first day and customize the recipe to what you want. Most people started asking for double shots of alcohol as the drinks weren't very strong by the pool. You will need to bring your own pool towels to the pool that can be found in your room--this is well thought-out, but no one really made that clear until I was about to leave. Checkout was a breeze and the bell-man are fantastic. I especially appreciated Cesar and Carlos during my trip. UBER picks you up right outside the property (1 min. walk) and it costs $13 to the airport. Don't take a taxi... Overall, given the price reduction and 50% capacity, I would highly recommend staying at this hotel if you are looking for a chill vibe and of course, if you feel safe enough to travel. Flights to cabo seems to be pretty full, so be prepared. I think the hotel is doing the best that it can to keep its guests safe and happy. I hope this review helps others thinking about staying here!
July 4th getaway
The resort has reopened as of July 1st, and we were so thankful to be able to enjoy this much-needed holiday weekend! While not yet at normal capacity, there’s a large enough crowd to have a good time while still allowing plenty of space to social distance. I was pleasantly surprised by the fantastic 4th of July celebration they had planned for us — live music, fireworks, and an amazing fire dancing show. The resort’s somewhat remote location is perfect if you’re wanting to stay put, maybe not-so-much if you want to do a lot of Cabo sightseeing. We definitely hope to return again soon!
