Stayed for two weeks at the Royal Decameron. Enjoyed our stay. Staff were polite and helpful. Food in restaurants was good with plenty of choice. Our room was just next to reception. Housekeeping done daily. A short walk onto the near town of Buc eras. We caught the local bus to Puerto del Carmen. Taxis readily available near hotel if you require. Looking forward to a return visit.
Great value, low key, relaxing time
I saw someone write that they thought they overpaid by $500. I completely disagree. As someone who has been to Mexico at least a dozen times I felt Royal Decameron is a tremendous value. It is not the most updated or fanciest property, but it is gorgeously landscaped, immaculately kept, the rooms was always very clean and the staff are so much better than so many places we have been before. It has an old Mexico feel as so many people would say. Walking just down the road into Bucerias downtown/market provides even more of that. The range of activities and areas directly on the property are awesome. I have seen people complain about the pool area being loud in other reviews. There are five different pools. One is very loud. Most are not. I believe one is even adults only. There is something for everyone. The safe key was the equivalent of $2.50 American a day. If you are spending a thousand plus dollars a head for a weeks getaway, how can you complain about that? Again, I have seen others do so in their reviews. So many places that my wife and I have been to both in Mexico and other countries including the U.S. would charge 3-4 times that much. The prices in the on-site stores were also very reasonable in comparison to the off-site stores. In conclusion, if you hate paying a bunch of money only to get someplace and have the property pressure you to spend more and more, then this is a great place because you don't get that at all. If you are willing to walk the grounds and see everything they have to offer, you will be rewarded with all kinds of added value. There are bound to be things that are up your alley as each of the different buildings/areas has their own pool and many have other thinsg like the iguana pool, amazing landscaping, giant chess, volleyball on the beach, pool games, night time activities including faux gambling with prizes and very quality performers both earlier and later in the evening. If you are young and want to party hardy, not the ideal hotel for you. Want to have some drinks (or not), meet some new friends and have a good time relaxing? Then this is a GREAT place for you. We left appreciating the cleanliness and friendliness and complete absence of pressure to buy things after we already paid healthy $$$ and had avery good taste in our mouth from our experience.
Self-isolation at Decameron
We just returned from 2 weeks at the Decameron resort and now are in self-isolation in BC due to covid-19 however we would much rather be isolated at the RDC. Our recent vacay was excellent and a big thanks to Air Transat and their flight attendents for their great service. The buffet restaurants were very good and the a la carts were fine but not worth the 2 hour wait to book them each morning. Sure was a waist of morning beach walk or sleep-in time. Alternate between the 2 buffet restaurants and you will find everything you could ever want in food selection. Thanks for the great food and excellente servers. The highlite every evening is the entertainment which never disappoints and we were fortunate to see a performance of 'Aqua' which was most impressive. Well done entertainment crew. Another highlite in entertainment were the 3 tenors who were most excellent too. In closing we highly recommend this resort for a quick or long stay vacation.
This was our 4th time to this resort. We always go for 2 weeks and used to love it here. We have always stayed in the 500 block in the past but this time decided to shake it up and reserve on the beach. We were put into the 100 Block on the first floor. You really don't get a view at all on the first floor. We asked to be moved up a floor or 2 to get the view and they finally had a room for us the last 2 days we were there. No thanks. The room was really old, the lamp shades were peeling and moldy. The rooms are so small and the bathroom to get into the shower, you basically had to step over the toilet. The grounds are still beautiful and the staff still as friendly as ever. It is very noisy in the 100 block and pools on either side of this block have something going on from morning to after 9 at night. So never a quiet spot. The food was terrible this time. I have always been able to find something to eat, but not this time. I lived on rice pudding, bread and desserts. Usually this resort is full of Canadians but this time there was about 1/2 Canadians, 1/2 Mexicans. While I am not prejudice and love the Mexican people and am glad they are out travelling more, we found that they catered more to the Mexicans as far as food, service and friendliness which was disappointing. The Royal De Cameron used to be a good vacation for the price, but definitely not this time. We will return to PV but never again to this resort.

Rooms are dated, but clean, bed hard but not too bad. Pool areas and Beach are great. Food was average, looking for more salad items at buffets. El a carts were disappointing considering you have to line up to book them each morning at 0700am and they don't open res desk till 08:30!! Bars were fine, no brand liquor and beer. Highlight is the staff, hard working and friendly!! Resort needs an update!!
