Nice hotel but needs to get it's act together regarding ceoliacs
The hotel was nice and in a good setting with good views. It's a bit out of town but you can get the local bus or a taxi. The hotel was always being cleaned. The staff on the whole were very friendly (big shout out to Margarita at the top floor your an asset to this hotel, hope they reward her for her hard work. My only complaint was the catering for ceoliacs in the ala carte restaurants. i was given a prawn salad without the prawns as the only option as starter in the Krystal. LOL come on Riu get your act together. The head chef in the main buffet was much better at advising on gluten free options would advise you speak to him if your coeliac (sorry can't remember his name). Drinks were good but you need to ask for premium spirits if you want them. Rooms are a bit musty or fousty as we say in Scotland we needed to wash clothes twice that hadn't been worn but stored in the drawers and wardrobe. Leave the balcony doors open to freshen the room. Went whale watching with Whale Watch Cabo and a trip to Playa Balandra and a stop at TodoSantos on the way back both trips were excellent and Whale Watch cabo include the pics of the trip for free. You cannot swim in front of the hotel but if you walk along the beach towards town there is a safe space for swimming and the water was very nice If I was going back to Cabo I would still consider the Riu Palace as a base.
We got engaged in Los Cabos!
Visited Los Cabos and stayed at Riu with my boyfriend at the time. While we were there, he proposed and I said yes. Los Cabos and Riu holds a lot of charm, infinity pool, relaxing coast, very friendly staff and excellent food. We look forward to visiting Los Cabos and Riu again post Covid.
Honeymoon of Dreams
My wife and I spent two weeks here for our honeymoon. The weather was amazing. We stayed in the Suite Jacuzzi Sea View, and it exceeded out expectations. The room and the resort had views for days. You can see all the cruise ships as the come and go from the port. You can also see the lovers arch. The room had a jacuzzi on the the balcony, as well as a large soaker tub in the room. The room had a fully stocked mini bar, with top shelf liquor on poor spouts. There were several bars around this resort, all with great service, and top shelf liquor. It does have two identical swim up bars with more of a party atmosphere. The service at all the bars was very fast, with not much waiting. The resort has two large main pools with more of a relaxed vibe. The one pool hosts the water aerobics daily. The service around the pool is amazing. This resort, has two gyms one for cardio, and one for weights which is attached to the spa. These gyms were both fairly small, so depending on what you like to do for a work out these may or may not work for you. The spa is ok, I have been to better. It has two jacuzzi pools, neither are very warm. They served us stale sparkling wine. It does have a large selection of massage options. So if you want to relax with a massage that may work for you. The food at the resort is mediocre. It has a large buffet, however there are minimal changes between each day of meals. The À la carte restaurants are first come first serve. The Mexican, and Steak house were the best of what they have, but I have had better food at other resorts. Staff at this resort, is super friendly. The maids did an amazing job, and were always smiling, and cleaning. Check in was easy and fast, and the front desk was helpful with any issues that arose. The staff in the buffet was noticeably better when the management was at the resort, but not as much when they left. There were shows nightly at the theatre. If you want something a little more wild, the Riu Sante Fe next door hosted 4 Vegas Style Pool parties a week. Two in the day, and two at night. I highly recommend checking them out. The daily activities, are virtually non existent. The only even was water aerobics in the mornings. This resort for the most part was very clean. I never felt dirty touching any surface. There is a lot of walking at this resort, which is good for burning off the food, and liquor. If you have a hard time with stairs, or walking, there are several elevators at the resort. I do however recommend that you find them when you get to the resort, so you aren't searching when you need them the most. All around I would highly recommend this resort, nd would gladly travel here again.
Wow it’s big
We went as a group of 25 was blown away by the resort. Check-in was fast but took awhile for our luggage to get to our room but I get it as this place is huge. Has countless pools all are awesome. The party pool has a theme every day but one. Has its own water world park which is so cool.Even one for children. The entertainment was spectacular every night. There is 7 different themed restaurants all which are great. The rooms are clean and the mini bar is kept full. You will get lots of walking in if in tower nine have a open lunch with burgers fries and hotdogs by the main pool which are great. Drinks were plentiful and not watered down for sure. Love the place and highly recommend it to all.
Riu Palace treats you like royalty
From the moment we arrived, the staff couldn’t do enough for us. The property was beautiful, clean, and massive. Housekeeping came in the morning while at breakfast, and came back every evening to leave even more fresh towels. The dining options were plentiful-even a poolside bbq! The view of the sea of Cortez, arch rock, humpback whales....was incredible. For reference, our room was 4020. That allowed us an amazing sunrise from the balcony with the same view! As beautiful as the view was of what nature provided, And the sparkling resort.....it really was the incredible staff that made it such a great vacation. From the transportation concierge, bar and wait staff, to the entertainment-I should mention names but there are too many. We will return, hopefully when the Corona virus is gone.
