Stay away .... Looks nice on the outside, kinda dated and worn on the inside. Just checked in and they were kind enough to "upgrade" our room .... To a room with an Air Conditioning unit that has a loud vibration when the fan runs. Asked for another room, said "maintenance has to look at it first". Maintenance said he would "fix it tomorrow", after he adjusted the fan speed so it wasn't quite as noisy and told us to just not touch the controls anymore. Asked for any room, a downgrade, anything that was quiet ... Apparently in their opinion the downgrade would be worse?????

Overall very good but a few negatives to note.

We've stayed at Riu Hotels many times in various counties. Overall, this was a very good experience but there are a few negatives which should be noted. The Good- Service at the hotel was great. All people were very friendly and helpful. Special shoutout to Anna who was working the Sports bar the week of 6/10. Just a gem of a human being and we will miss her! Junior at the front desk was great as well. The food was surprisingly very good overall. Granted I don't expect gourmet food at an all inclusive but we were very happy with the selections, variety and overall quality. Breakfast was always our favorite. Pool and beach areas were very nice. Location was safe and very walkable to nearby restaurants and bars. A few recs which are a 5 min walk include Gianni's for a nice Italian meal. Sopranos and Saloon are both great for a fun evening of drinks and music. Surprisingly really good wood fired pizza places nearby as well. The Not So Good- The rooms are fine but definitely need to be refreshed/upgraded. Most of the facilities are rather dated and overall maintenance upkeep seems to be a common issue. I realize most folks don't visit the gym on vacation but trust me when I say to not bother here. The good news is you can use the Riu Antilles gym which is right next door. Much better for many reasons. The room service menu is severely lacking. I believe there were about 5 items to choose from and none of which were very good. My only real food complaint. All in all we had a great time and the folks working at the hotel made some of the other inconsistencies more tolerable.

    Mediocre this time around...

2 times at Antillas, my 2nd time here at the Palace. I was here 3 years ago, and I have to say that things have changed. The staff (housekeeping) were not very friendly. It took 3 days plus a phone call to the front desk to get the shower gel refilled. No toiletries. Turn down service not consistent. Curtains in the room were in bad shape, holes throughout. Everyone had the appropriate chairs on their balconies, but us, we had one, yes, just one, office type chair on our balcony. There is one card per guest for towels. 1 card, 1 towel. I usually like other people use a towel to put on the beach chair. The other would be to dry off after coming out of the water. I am not saying I won't be back, but the price I paid was way too much for the service received. We were there for 9 days, and our room key cards were deactivated 2 days later. I went to the front desk for them to tell me that your card had expired. They fixed it, but who made the mistake? All in all, I paid a pretty penny to stay here...AGAIN, and not as pleased as I was the first time in 2021. For me to go back, the price needs to be more attractive.

Great trip. Great food. Great resort. The beach is beautiful. Work park is fun, especially if you have kids. Probably won’t go back in June (start of hurricane season. ONLY NEGATIVE- to the guy on the beach selling shells, shut the SHELL up!! (If you be there, you know lol)

    Look elsewhere before booking

They will not accept reservations for their specialty restaurants so you are forced to eat at the buffet every night or wait on a long line for below average food. The beach was nice, wake up at 6am to maybe get a front row palapa (and of course a tip for the guy to move the chair one inch for you).
