Amazing Stay!!
Big shout out to Damar from italian restaurant, Oshane dunns river bar, Ashain dance Entertainment, Pepe jerk shack amazing service from these gentlemen the vibes and energy made my entire family feel so welcome this was my second time here within 3 months definitely coming back

Jul 17, 2025Let me start off by saying I am a repeat customer to this hotel and while over all the stay was good the reception staff from check-in to check-out was poor. We had checked in online previous to our arrival as we had a late flight and arrived at this hotel 10.30pm. We thought it would be easy as we checked in already and we are Gold members…Wrong… we provided passports and the card we paid with and then I had to put in my PIN number for $1 nothing strange. Then I was asked to show the debit in my banking app? When I explained I did not have internet access she immediately said she would cancel my reservation if I did not comply! So if I could not have done that last step I would be on the streets for 2 weeks after a 10 hour flight! Eventually she gave me Wi-Fi access so I was able to show the transaction. I do not understand that last step. I am not an Apple or google pay user but what if I was.? You have the same details on the card, passport and I correctly put in the pin? After my check in experience the rest of the stay was ok… however if I needed to go to reception staff would walk off or just not be friendly at all as if you are a burden to them. Now I stayed at the Aquarelle immediately after my 2 week stay in Ocho and it was like Night and Day. Aquarelle from check-in to check-out know how to great and treat their guests. I also want to state I was NOT asked to show the debit on my banking app at Aquarelle! The reception staff at Riu Ochi need replacing or they need to be retrained and learn from the reception staff at Aquarelle! I spoke the general manager Max who appeared to be surprised when I mentioned about the demand to show my banking app and the threat of cancelling my reservation of which I paid over £2,000 ! I also mentioned I did not receive my free Gold member gift. Although I did receive the gift and a nice letter from Max the service at reception did not get any better. Reception staff is a major let down and that is guests first and last impression. No welcome to Riu, no smile, every request is a burden and greater with a grunt. In the end I avoided going to reception. I do not want to leave this review without mentioning staff that did show how to treat guests….. In the main restaurant head chef Ivan who looked after my husband who is a fussy eater. Orlando it’s always a pleasure seeing you again and of course the lovely Kerry- Ann who remembers our breakfast drink orders from previous stays. The ground staff keep the grounds beautiful and the bar staff keep the drinks flowing. Riu you really need to sort out the reception staff. Disappointed with Riu Ocho Rios

RIU Ocho Rios is the best Hotel for Vacationing
Service is excellent, from the front desk to the beachside area. The beach is beautiful and the water is clear and nice, it’s great for relaxation. The entire staff that we interacted with were very friendly and courteous. The entertainment and fun activities were great and the bar staff provides excellent services. The rooms are clean and spacious, its overall good value for the all-inclusive package. The food especially the buffet style was excellent, you get to enjoy and choose from a wide variety that tasted so delicious. The overall hotel is 10/10 and nothing less. I will invite anyone who desires to book a stay at any hotel to choose RIU Ocho Rios Jamaica.
