Terrible Experience with coronavirus
Came here for my 5th reunion of our honeymoon. The resort shut down and we did not receive the service we paid for. Restaurants weren't open most nights, they stopped serving alcohol, and guests were not allowed to lay by the pool. I understand the precautions and the Dominican Republic shutting their borders. My review is based upon the fact that they refused to offer us a refund for the days we paid for. They offered a voucher for one year from when we booked. Well we booked three months ago and are planning to have children. Can't travel with an infant. They have refused to be understanding and offer us a refund. Never again will I travel to this family of resorts for their behavior. Sad because I've had a great time at this resort for my honeymoon and love the staff. I will be proceeding in small claims court against this resort. I would strongly encourage that no one prepay for their booking as the hotel will outright steal your money if their is an extenuating circumstance.
Truly “royal” service!
From the minute we checked in until our last goodbye at checkout, the care, attentiveness and friendliness of the staff was always present! Special kudos to Angela at the Royal Service Lounge, Edgar our butler, and Martin our beach attendant! All the servers at Palazzo were wonderful as well. The hotel rooms and grounds are lovely and the beach view makes the lobby one of the prettiest we’ve ever seen. Hope to return some day!
Not very Royal
Not very pampered for Royal service. Advertise that golf is included but paid $75 per person for carts. Why is that not included in the :royal" service? Restaurants are not really "dining" they are more like mess halls with very bright lighting. Food is served as fast as they can make it.
3 star service in a 5 star hotel
We spent 10 nights at the end of February and we can summarise our experience with the good and the not so good: Good • Staff at kids’ club. Loanyi and Hicayra were great with our kids. They had endless energy, smiles and resources to keep them entertained. The kids club is well equipped and they have activities all day. • Evening entertainment: every evening there was a good quality show with professional and talented teams. We especially enjoyed the silent disco, the whole family had a lot of fun! • Cleanliness of the facilities • Gardens are beautiful and very well kept To improve • Service at restaurants. Staff is not professionally trained and don’t know how to handle situations such as preparing a pot of hot tea (our waiter put his finger inside the pot to check if it was hot and most times the tea pot didn't have a lid). Although the hotel was not reaching 50% of capacity, service was slow and the tables had half of the cutlery or glasses missing. For a 5 star hotel, this was by far the part that needs to improve the most. • Gluten free selection is very limited in the main buffet (only bread and once there were muffins) so we strongly recommend you bring your own GF snacks, cereals or bread. One cook in the pasta counter didn’t know what gluten free pasta was, which was really worrying. Other restaurants have gluten free options and were willing to accommodate our needs. • The combination of dampness and not enough ventilation caused mould in the room. All the bags and suitcases that we had in the room were covered in mould. Staff should recommend to keep air flowing (it was too cold for air conditioning) so this doesn’t happen
We had a great stay in February. The weather was a mix of everything really. The room was sub par but very clean. The bathroom supplies are good but you may want your own shampoo and cond. The cleaning staff was great. The balcony was nice and spacious. The room was very spacious overall as well. We had a Jr Suite. Mini living area, bed, large bathroom with jet tub for 2. The bed was very comfy but firm. The shower water temps were difficult to master (one morning we had no water at all actually). Our butler was very average also. However, the staff overall was amazing and over the top helpful if you needed anything. The food was good. The buffet was great! The beach was amazing, very easy to walk on and we did miles every morning. They provide nice big lounging beds on the beach (we had gold bands) and that was so comfortable. Service on the beach was great too. The casino is small but fun. The resort is very beautiful all round. The store prices are extremely high. Sun lotion is $30USD. I also needed some earbuds since mine broke, there was one box, it was previously used, yikes. I also got some cocoa butter lotion, got to the room, and it was as hard as a rock. So much so that the sun couldn't even melt it. So just be aware of what you may need. The sun is very strong here. I tan easily and rarely burn, but I did here using 30 spf all day long.
