Avoid!
Don't go! Food is disgusting -( paid for Chateaubriand and it was the worst meal we've ever had!) resort badly needs updating. Booked for honeymoon and it was a huge disappointment.

Cajuns on Vacation
Lots to say. Some good some bad. Wait staff at Buffett short handed. Don’t like that you have to use hotel app to make reservations at restaurants. Ever day at 9 AM you have to be ready and are lucky to get reservations that you want. We have group of 8 and can only make reservations for amount of ppl in your room so everyone has to do it at same time. Foam party in pool was awesome. Silent party at night was really kool . Disappointed in free tour from hotel to jewelry store , tequila store then to playa del Carmen , felt mislead. We made best of it , our 2nd time here.

Charged our credit card for new sheets after being accused of getting sick in our bed. Will never return.
The resort is fine. We went with a group of 15 people with two of them upgrading to privilege which ended up being a waste of money. One of them just asked for their money back and the other had to switch rooms and asked for other things to make up for the money that was spent. Another couple had their room cleaned maybe twice despite asking for it to be cleaned on a daily basis. One room had ants in it and one room. The AC never worked. Upon checking out, we were told that we had a charge of 130 Canadian because we needed new sheets during our stay. When we asked what this was about, we were told that we had vomitted in our beds which we adamantly denied because that never happened. The staff looked at us skeptically, rubbed his stomach and said are you sure? I told him I was very sure. He then gave us a name of someone that obviously wasn’t in our room because he knew that it was only me and my husband. My husband had to write a note that said that neither of us threw up in our beds and did not require new sheets. Lo and behold, we come home to a charge on our credit card. We have emailed the resort, but I’m not holding my breath that they will return the funds so we will have to escalate it to the credit card company. There are so many resorts in Mexico to choose from, do not waste your time coming to a place like this.

Nice stay but some niggles….
Nice relaxing stay with family. We stayed in the El Beso part of the hotel which had a nice room and adult pool area (it does need more shaded areas / umbrellas for non-privilege guests). It was a relaxing experience away from the main hotel area which was a bit more lively! I’m not sure we would have enjoyed it as much if we weren’t staying in El Beso. Overall the staff were lovely throughout the hotel. Positives: El Beso Bistro team were absolutely fantastic! Food & drinks were great. Lovely atmosphere & attentive staff at the El Beso restaurant. Big thanks to: Chefs, Pool attendants, Ricardo, Ivan, Freddy, Poncho, Wilber, Magaly & Amando. Mexican Restaurant - nice food. Japanese Restaurant - fun experience. Coffee Shop - nice coffee & good range of snacks. Great staff. Housekeeping - excellent, room well maintained & mini bar restocked daily. Negatives: Check in / out: check in - nearly an hour queuing! After traveling for over 18 hours all we wanted was to get to our room. After check in we then had to wait with our luggage for a bellboy, we gave up after another 15 minutes & asked to go to our room. As a result we were told where to go rather than shown our room. Check out - queued again, 30 minutes. Main Buffet Restaurant - queuing again! Often waiting outside with no one on the desk, lots of empty tables inside so clearly not busy. If you attempted to enter without hostess checking your room number she would come running instantly, so why were they not at the desk? Food hit & miss - sometimes good & sometimes not so good. Italian Restaurant (indoor) - waitress tried very hard to sell us wine. When we declined her manner towards us changed, she became very un-interested in serving us. Food was mediocre. Booking specialty restaurants - booking is a nightmare, tried to book at 8am as soon as reservations opened several times but only managed to book two during our 11 day stay. Long & slow queues do seem to be a recurrence throughout the hotel apart from El Beso!
