What We Love

  • It's all-inclusive: the food, the drinks, the everything is sensational.
  • Teeing off at the Marina Vallarta Golf Course that's a coconut's throw from the resort.
  • Dropping the kids off at the kid's club then making a beeline for the swim-up bar.
  • Melting into a massages in an open-air cabana.
  • Swimming, floating and diving into the largest pool in Vallarta - zero-entry point for kids!
  • The all-consuming kids' activities: arts & crafts, ping pong, foosball, arcade games and more.
  • Visiting the landmark, the Church of Our Lady of Guadalupe & zip lining in the nearby jungle.
  • The nightly shows - the dancers cut a rug with everything from retro to traditional cultural dances.
  • Hanging at the Marieta Islands and Los Arcos National Marine Park. Both are not far away.

Things to Know

  • The resort is just 10 minutes from the airport so your family's vacay will begin in a snap.
  • The hotel does not accept "Spring Breakers" - put your hands together for this one.
  • You can go whale watching and deep sea fishing. Go ahead - take the plunge.
  • There's jet ski and motor boat rentals plus parasailing, scuba, water skiing & more.
  • Hop on this option: there's horseback riding. You can't miss this.
  • When you're drying off, you can play tennis, hit the climbing wall or batting cage.
  • Luckily, medical facilities are near should you trip on a coconut or have any other mishap.
  • Keep your svelte body looking svelte with yoga, aerobics and a fitness room.
Situated on a sprawling tropical sanctuary overlooking Banderas Bay, you'll be seriously "wowed" aka hypnotized by the cobalt waves and palm trees. The eco-friendly gardens are refuge for iguanas, ducks and coy. If that's not enough, take epic selfies on the waterside gazebos, then later grab a cocktail and take in the spectacular sunsets. It's family-centric and 100% smoke-free. Two words: Beach Heaven.

At this resort, the memories begin when you arrive.

    over all....

rooms in westerly wing smell moldy so be vigilant and complain. We tried 3 rooms before accepting ground floor. Opted to not use AC as the venting seems be part of the issue. door open and shears to stop bugs. worked well. had good meals every time we dined in .Hotel. short walk hop on hop off. rooms were quiet and 70% clean, but this was beginning if pandemic so I washed all surfaces with Alcohol water mix.Swim area is really nice at slack tide to snorkel with fish by the rock pile.Over all we enjoyed one of the last tourist trips Puerto Vallarta will see of Canadians for a while. Be safe ALL>)

    The Staff makes the Difference

Our servers were AMAZING -- Angel at the pool, Issrael at lunch and breakfast, Paola cleaning our room. Actual hotel is older and lunch selection isn't the best, but the staff is what makes this hotel memorable. Thank you, to each of you, for making our getaway amazing.

    Mostly great

We just got back from a visit with my family of 6 and both my brothers families and my parents. This was our third visit to the Melia. First, the positives (many): Kids club. I had all four of my kids in there several hours a day. The staff is amazing and my older kids especially (6 and 8) could not wait to go. Charley and team you are awesome. Nancy and team in little kids club - amazing. I did not hesitate to have my 2 and 4 year olds in your care. My 4 year old dreaded going every day (he is anxious) but when we picked him up he was always so happy and proud of the things he made. Entertainment. Nightly shows are great and I'm really impressed with the talent. Great job guys. I'm impressed with how hard you work and all the extra roles you do. Pool entertainment: Always something fun going on. Absolutely love water aerobics (all teachers were great and super fun), Mariana and Tatiana ALWAYS have beautiful smiles and are so fun, warm and friendly and charasmatic. Love the pool games, guacamole making, etc Pool: this pool is perfect for small kids. Not only are there two zero depth entry places, but in many places there are large.ledges. we spent most of our time on the island. If you have small kids bring floaties because then they can go everywhere. Room: no complaints at all. Clean rooms with plenty of shampoo, soap, etc. My daughter was sick during our stay and staff was quick with helping us. Spa: My daughter and neices got nails done at little spa. Cecila and Margarita are so sweet and did a great job. I got them done at big spa too. Thank you! Photography: our pictures turned out great! Area: I adore the room views, and love walking around the little nature pools, trees, etc. Everywhere is peaceful with the views and sounds. At night the swimming pool is lit and it's so peaceful to sit around it. Service: Rene is an excellent waiter. The best. Extremely attentive and charasmatic. Most waiters are great as well. Food: love the make your own pasta and omelette. Love all the Mexican food. Salsas are sooooo good. All the Mexican food is by far my favorite. Negative: Much of the food is unappealing. I would suggest you have MUCH fewer options. Just serve 10 or so foods instead of 50. But the 10 foods you make, you should do the really well. There are WAY too many food options and only a few taste good. We go to a buffet in Minnesota called Q.Cumber and they do this well. The don't have a ton of options, but everything they have is delicious. So maybe the things you do well - tacos, quesadillas, make your own pasta bar, omelette, burgers - focus on that? Maybe have two stations for making pasta and omelette? Have a taco station too where there are four types of meat - chicken, beef, fish and the staff prepares it just like the pasta station. I know how to prepare good Mexican tacos because husband is Mexican. But MOST Americans, Canadians and Europeans need guidance. Please email me if you want any ideas: sarah.j.naranjo@gmail.com I see everyone complaining about the food in reviews so I really think you need to make changes. Perhaps you should make a focus group of previous visitors for suggestions. I also wish there was more drinking water. With my four young children it was always a chore to get water, as we never had enough water in fridge. Thank you!!

Disappointed , expected more from the Melia name

First off with a few positives. Loved the location, we could walk to the marina with the shops and excellent restaurants. Cheap taxi ride to downtown or to Bucerias. The staff were very pleasant and always available. Bar service at the pool was excellent. Never really a wait for loungers, they have signs posted that you were not to put up towels and then take off for hours. Always had a place to sit either by the pool or the beach areas. But....The food was lacking, couldnt eat dinner at the buffet. Just not up to standards of a Melia. Hence we had to eat out at restaurants 4 nights of our ten. It is hit and miss with the ala carte. you had to line up at 10 am to book a reservation for only that night and usually only a couple open. The food at the ala carte was not bad, but very limited menu. Our room was always cleaned late, and never had enough towels or face cloths or glasses. we had to order more up quite often. And when we did service was speedy. They do not have ice machines and you have to order thru room service, and it usually just comes in any old thing they can put it in, like a ice cream bucket or plastic bag. when we checked out they took off our bracelet and we were not allowed any food or drink while we waited for hours for our departure. If you want that it is $30 US each We enjoyed our stay but would not come back to this hotel.

    This place is trash

I am on day 2 of 5 days and it is nothing short of a disaster. 1- checked into room 1604 only to realize another guest was already in the room. Had to go back to front desk for another room. 2- went to snack bar to get lunch (LA Palapita) and they had hot dogs/nacho bar (cheese and chips with toppings) and wings. The staff member fixing the food licked his fingers and continued preparing food in the midst of the coronavirus outbreak. WTH!!! So now I am waiting on dinner. I go to the dinner buffet and I am in complete shock and disbelief. Not sure what none of these foods items are and not one chicken dish in site mostly pork in different sauces and stuff. I spoke to manager on duty (Jessica) and eventually walked to a restaurant to eat. It was just ok. Rooms/hotel old and outdated Mini bar - 2 beers/3 sodas/2 waters Don't waste your time/energy or money coming to this place.
