Best place ever
This place is so beautiful. you feel like your in a jungle with all the birds and wildlife. the food was amazing I can't say one bad thing about this resort I will be back again when this coronavirus is gone
Beautiful accommodations in a beach/jungle environment. Staying here was like being at the zoo: so many exotic animals roam free on the property. Great restaurants and laid back lifestyle. This was my third time here and hopefully will return .
My husband and I spent a week at the Del Mar March 8-16. The weather was amazing, the sun and the sand were necessary. We haven't done a lot of all inclusive vacations and our last one was a much smaller resort so this was a huge difference. This resort is massive! It's actually 4 resorts, of which you have access to 3. They will allow you access to the Maya, but only if you sit through their time share presentation....and they will be forceful about it. This was the only part of the trip we felt was lacking, no means no....but I digress. We booked our three a la carte dinners at the same time we checked in...it was painless and we were able to get spots at the 3 restaurants we wanted. Mexican - great food, not so great service. Steakhouse - great service, average food. And Japanese - excellent food, excellent service and a great show! Don't waste your time at the American diner....if you can figure out when it's actually open, the food wasn't anything special and the service was sub par. The buffets are large with many options. There is also a smaller buffet that was closest to our room where we ate breakfast every morning just because it was close. It converts to the Italian restaurant at night, which you do not need a reservation for - and the food and service was very good there as well. There is something for everyone and very good quality for buffet food so unless you're incredibly picky there is always something to find to eat. The grounds are stunning, it's like walking through a jungle with wildlife all around you. But you will get youe steps in! If you have mobility concerns or issues they have golf carts that drive the outer path of the property with pick up points so it's very easy to get around. The nightly entertainment was a lot of fun, great production quality, we went every night and were never disappointed. A couple of nights they allow local vendors in to set up sales booths. We found some very unique and beautiful things that we purchased. The room was spotless, always clean. We had an ocean view room in block 10 and it exceeded every expectation. They restock the mini fridge daily and only one day this wasn't done...we made a quick call to the front desk went out for dinner and it was fully restocked with extras by the time we got back. The pool area was a lot of fun...we were able to find loungers around 9am without much trouble. The "quiet" pool doesn't have a lot for loungers and they go fast so I could see there being some issues there. We also never had an issue finding loungers on the beach if we went down by 9-9:30am. We didn't mind being farther away from the main Beach bar so it was no issue for us to walk over for drink refills when we needed. The beach area closest to the beach bar is also much more crowded and appears to fill up much faster so it really depends on what you're looking for. They beach was clean, they have a machine hooked up to a tractor and they groom/clean the beach twice a day. Only one day there was a fair amount of sargassum rolling in from the ocean but crews did they best to stay on top of it and it was impactful on being able to enjoy the beach/beautiful ocean. The staff are amazing, the star friends were spectacular in keeping people engaged and having fun. Everyone was friendly and willing to help and always smiling. They really make this experience for people so please remember to tip, just a little something to say thank you for all they do to make sure you have an enjoyable time. Final points, you have to try the ice cream at the pool bar....it's so refreshing and flavourful. Check out the shopping centre if you can there is a good variety of stores. If you can get an ocean view room....do it you will not be disappointed but even if you can't this resort is worth every penny. It's not pretentious, it's the perfect balance of class, amenities, fun, and relaxation that you would expect from a 5 star resort. One week was not long enough and we will be back for a longer stay when we next return.
Spent 13 days here with my boyfriend. We stayed in the 1800 block at the del mar. The Resort- its HUGE! and BEAUTIFUL! The maintainence do an excellent job. They work very hard! Staff- the friendlest staff I have ever encountered at a resort! Shout out to Isais, Javier, Roberto, Frank and Carlos for tips about the resort and area. Supper friendly! The bar tenders are wonderful, the concierge, cooks and the maids did wonderful job in our room! Please please tip all if you go! Food- very good! We stayed at the buffet most nights. Drinks so so good. Beach- choppy swimming. The waves are strong and some days you couldnt go in. But beautiful! Other things- one thing I cannot stand is the hogging of the chairs. The other tourists ruined this for us..its greedy. Of everyone could just learn to not hog..everyone could enjoy the chairs. I just moved towels..used the spot..when i was done put the towels back on! Noone ever came and we did that lots Entertainment! Excellent excellent! So fun. So many fun things to do in Mexico.
Always a Great Time!
Probably the 5th time that I have stayed here. The place is immaculate, beautifully landscaped and has a top-notch staff. The beach is beautiful and they have done a wonderful job improving entertainment and food choices. We really enjoyed the nightly singers, guitar players and games offered before and after the dinner hour. The young people that run the entertainment are friendly, upbeat and loads of fun. The food at the buffet has greatly improved and we were very appreciative of that. Good quality, more choices and excellent dining staff made the buffet a pleasure. My only complaint all week was that guests continually videoed themselves feeding the seagulls for Facebook posts. This made it impossible to bring even a snack to your lounge chair. The birds would literally just take the food off of your plate.
