Room outdated but everything else was good

I stood here for 5 days while the whole coronavirus thing was going on. The staff was friendly the entire stay even though I knew what was on their mind. There was sanitizer stands everywhere. Wednesday night the gov,t shut everything down so no more excursions and the resort said they were closing on April 1st. Even after that the staff remained friendly and helpful and service was still great. The buffet pretty much had the same food every week which sucked a little. I ate at one of the reservation restaurant called mercado which had really good food and service. Waiters and bartenders all over were very friendly. Bathroom in my room which was 4004 was really old looking. There was no outlet by the bed to charge my phone. Mini bar in room only had 2 beers and 2 sodas. They give out tall glass bottles so you can refill your water at a fountain outdoors. I guess saving plastic waste but kept wondering how clean was my bottle. 2 ping pong tables which I used every day and 2 pool tables. Entertainment by the pool daily and nightly shows. I had a good time. I would go back once they update the rooms a bit. They also need more variety for dinner at the buffet. Everything outside the room was well maintained and clean.

Beautiful property and a great vacation!

We stayed at Iberostar Costa Dorada from Feb 26 – March 7th and had a great time. We were in room 1222 which is building 1, 2nd floor (top floor) and with a great pool view. We picked this room specifically using the Iberostar online room selector which is a great feature. They have a beautiful and large pool so even in the busiest times never seemed crowded. There were always chairs available at the pool or the beach at any time of the day and you could always find shade if needed. Entertainment was very good throughout the day with plenty of activities if you want to join. The night time entertainment was even better as they have their own band so it was live music almost every night. The rockshow was excellent. The theater was large with both a covered section and open air so you can sit in the courtyard and still see and hear the shows perfectly. The food was generally good with some nights much more variety than other nights at the buffet. The Japanese and Mexican restaurants were excellent. The Mediterranean was mostly the same buffet from lunch (but much smaller) and you order a main course which we didn’t care for. Other people we spoke to indicated the same. They had some barbeques on the beach a few times plus they made Paella one day. Everything was excellent and we looked forward to the beach lunches. We did find that there always was an issue with wine and champagne even if we only wanted a spritzer or mimosa, etc. during the day or wine at night - they always ran out. It seems they have a limited supply by bar and perhaps by the hour as they would tell us to come back in 15-20 mins or try different bars. They don’t have any blenders at any bars so you won’t get any made-to-order frozen drinks. They do have some pre-mixed drinks (pina colada, etc) and the bartenders do a great job making almost anything you want. We received a call to our room on the day before we left telling us that smoking is not permitted on the balconies. I think that is very strange given that you could smoke almost everywhere on the resort, including the beach, the pool, the lobby, the courtyard, the pool bar and swim up bar. This must be a new rule as we saw many people smoking on the balconies, so just an fyi for others. The beach is very large and you can walk miles in either direction. We went to some shops down the beach to the right. The vendors are fairly aggressive as typically you would find at other resorts but that didn’t bother us. We enjoyed the shopping and the ice cold beer at a small bar they had there. The only issue with the beach is the seaweed but they cleared it up by sunrise everyday. Even with the seaweed in the water, there was still plenty of areas where you could swim. The staff were amazing and very friendly. Overall, we really enjoyed the resort.

    A Nice Getaway

My husband and I recently spent a week in the Dominican Republic at this resort. The grounds were very beautiful and well maintained. Our room was nice with a balcony overlooking the garden. The only down side of the room was that it was very close to the central area where the entertainment was put on each night and the noise was quite loud. The food was decent and included a wide variety at each meal. However, the selection was the same every day. There were three specialty restaurants which offered different kinds of cuisine. The beach was okay but the water was a bit rough when we were there. There were plenty of sun lounges and we had no trouble obtaining one when needed. The pool area was beautiful and very large with lots of lounges under cabanas as well as in full sun. Overall, I would recommend this resort for a week in the sun.

    Friendly and Peaceful

We travelled to this beautiful resort with a family of 7. It was the most relaxing vacation we as a family have been on. The Japanese a la cartel was so delicious and fun for the whole family. All staff were extremely friendly and evening entertainment was fantastic! The only thing that my husband and I would like to see happen would be for the pool to be open later along with the pool bar as our room was down on the far end of the resort. Why does the stocked fridge not contain rum? Lol
