Do Not Bother
We had requested adjoining rooms with another family which we were promised at check in. When we entered our room, this was not the case. When we called the front desk to explain, they were not helpful at all. Even the front desk clerk we had JUST spoken to denied he gave us adjoining rooms. After getting in touch with a travel agent and several other arguments with the hotel, we were finally moved. The rooms smelled musty. The drinks were awful. Terrible liquor with a horrible aftertaste, especially the frozen drinks. Service was mediocre with the exception of our pool waitress (Tina) who was great. The restaurants were not good, especially the steak house! It was awful! Our party wasn't even given a choice of meat. They threw a fatty, greasy pile of meat (not sure what) along with some tuna on a plate family style. My sister ordered a vegetarian dish and got a pepper smeared with pesto sauce. The place was way too big and if you didn't feel like walking you had to wait for someone to drive you from one place to another. On our last day there, I realized I left some clothes in a drawer from the first room we were in. I asked guest services, and of course it was no where to be found. They did not apologize. I am not even sure if they actually asked housekeeping if they had located it. They claimed someone else was in the room, so basically too bad. I have been to several resorts in Cancun. Loved all of them. Love coming to Cancun!
We stayed between March 16th and the 20th. Reaort was clea n and the staff was amazing. Stayed in Building 12 and Marimar was amazing. Resort was only at 30% capacity due to the covid19 crisis so service was very good and fast. Some activities were cancelled and restaurants were on rotation the last 3 days but the food was very good. The resort handled the situation quite well. I will definitely return.
This is one of JetBlues preferred hotels in conjunction with their JetBlue vacations. After some research on the area we booked. Upon arriving at the resort we were greeted and the bell men unloaded our bags for us and immediately escorted us to the check in desk. There, Bladimir, was wonderfully helpful. We weren't expecting to be able to check in early, but the room was ready. Had it not been ready he assured us they would hold our bags and allow us to enjoy the property. We stayed in a junior suite. It was just my husband and myself so we don't need a lot of space and this room was wonderful. We had a corner room and a beautiful balcony, absolutely thrilled with our room. The rooms are clean and modern. (one thing to note is to bring a international plug adaptor, if you don't have one your standard american cord will work in the plug but we did find that some of the USB plugs didn't work). Not a big deal to us, there are plenty in the room. Room Service - I think it is best to not order room service unless absolutely STARVING. The food was unfortunately not very good and we ordered a pizza and quesadillas. The pizza seemed to be a frozen pizza and the quesadillas were just some tortilla, cheese and served cold. No big deal, we knew there were plenty of other options on property, but just don't waste your time with that. Pools - The pools are very clean and there are plenty of wait staff that are extremely friendly and helpful when it comes to needing a cocktail. I was pregnant during this trip and have become somewhat of a virgin mojito extraordinaire. I know how annoying those can be to make and not once did anyone bat an eyelash when I asked for one. In the area of the resort that we stayed in there was an "action pool" and one that was really low key. Great to have options for whatever you're into and feeling that day. The pools will also do a 12pm bbq, offering things at a stand closer to the pool area, so you don't need to leave if you don't want, which I found great! The Staff - Was hands down the best part of this experience, other than being in Cancun. It was always Good morning/Afternoon/Evening to every guest they passed. It is definitely working it's way up the Forbes scale of expectations and I'm sure they'll get there. Staff was phenomenal. Restaurants - There are a wonderful amount of restaurants to chose from. Japanese, Indian, Mexican, Italian, A Steakhouse, Sports bar, Thai, Coffee shop and 2 buffets. The Buffets are Isla Blanca and Poseidon. We had Isla Blanca for breakfast every day which was easy because it was in the same building as our room. And lunch every day at Poseidon because it was closer to the water. Both options had a wonderful selection. The food overall at the restaurants was good. Not great, not terrible. Some of the items definitely left something to be desired, but we enjoyed the Indian restaurant the most. The Italian restaurant definitely was the most popular and for good reason, the pastas were great, bartenders were fun to hang out with, but of the 5 nights we were there this was closed two of them. I'm sure they consider guests on property and which restaurants they'll open, just be sure to check early in the day if the resort seems busy and you have your heart set on going to a specific place. That said, you'll never go hungry here. One other thing to keep in mind is that bottles of wine and some glasses of wine are additional and outside of the all inclusive price. Travel Club - At some point it almost just happens that you get pulled into the sales pitch. They're smart about how they pull you in, they lure you with some sort of spa incentive or tour of the resort, which we wanted so we figured we'd deal with it. The sales pitch was about 2 hours and there was no tour, but we did get a spa voucher and indulge in that. Given the current state of the world, and my husband not knowing about his job/about to embark as parents for the first time, it wasn't something we could commit too at the time. BUT, I do think what they offer is appealing. Just wasn't for us. Boats/Golf Carts - These are a wonderful way to get around the resort. We thought it was such a nice touch There are times when they'll see you walking and just ask if you'd like a ride rather than being picked up at one of the stations. I think this is a great option in case you're not used to walking so much. The boats are wonderful as well. We stayed int he building furthest away from the ocean and to get to the beach was about a 15-18 minute walk, which didn't bother us. We were in Mexico and the more time outside the better. Mosquitos - We were given a handy tip on our first night there. Being from Boston we wanted to do as much as possible outside and enjoy as much as we could. We went to the mexican restaurant the first night and found it odd that no one was enjoying dinner outside. We decided too but the waiter was kind enough to let us know that the reason why a lot of people don't eat outside is because the mosquitos can get bad just at dusk. Right before it gets dark out (630-8pm). Once it's dark out though they aren't bad at all, there are bats that eat them so they go into hibernation at night. Great tip and helpful to know, but still bring some bug spray. Spa - the spa was a beautiful addition to the property. Anything you do at the spa is additional, that said the prices are reasonable and the staff was professional, areas were very very clean and the spa pool was breathtaking. A great way to indulge in something while there. Beach - was kept very clean and tidy. Chairs were organized daily. Sectioned off for different areas of the resort didn't bother us because there were plenty to go around. They don't mind if you bring your own speaker to play music on as long as it's not really loud. The beach was swept and seaweed was cleaned as best as they could daily. Photographers - There are resort photographers that can be somewhat annoying and prompt you with poses and such. We actually ended up LOVING some of them. There was one day that they had a toucan to take pictures with. But the pricing for the photos was wayyyyy out of control. It's too bad, had we been given an option to buy 1-5 photos or a USB of all of them we might have thought about it, but they wanted $110 for 7 printed pictures, not on a USB. We just found this kinda out of touch and unfortunate because we would have loved some of them. They are sweet staff with a great eye. If you do want to you can have them set up a photoshoot with you and your family. Just check in with them in the gift shop and they'll set it up for you. Gift Shops - There's a jewelry store and two gift shops. Very cute souvenirs and well equipped with items that you may have forgotten in your travels. We ended up needing more sunscreen (keep in mind a bottle of sunscreen was $24 USD for something that would normally be $8 in the US) Just something to keep in mind. ATM - there is an atm on property Extra circulars - There are a wonderful amount of things that you can do off the resort and plenty of people to help you with it. We just wanted to stay on the resort. But the staff was super helpful. JetBlue perk - If you do book this with JetBlue, I would highly recommend the car service that was provided. They were waiting for us at the airport, immediately greeted my husband and I by name (they wear JetBlue polos - so super easy to find among the HUNDREDS of people waiting to pick up guests). They confirmed flight times with us and were timely when we needed to leave the resort and head back to the airport. Give yourself 45-60minutes for travel time to and from the airport/resort.
Had a great time at the Grand Palladium! Beautiful property, fantastic amenities, very nice staff, especially Ricardo in the entertainment team. He is the life of the party and got us dancing! Our week wouldn’t have been the same without him :) Only criticism is that we are gluten and dairy free and there were no dessert options.
Very nice resort
Was a wonderful experience. Definitely will be coming back in the future. Food was all good TRS restaurants better than Grand Palladium. But in general all were good. Pool facilities were great. Beach was wonderful no significant soliciting which was refreshing
