We are already missing our time in Grand Villa! This place is the best of everything. Thanks to the staff for excellent service and amazing food. The only thing that could make it better would be more entertainment. We’ll be back soon!
What a blast!
Man oh man, where do I begin? There are so many highlights to this trip I hardly know where to begin. I wish I could rate it five stars but there were a few things missing from the package we paid for that didnt make it quite perfect but all in all, a wonderful time was had. This beautiful trip started with a private pick up at the airport and we were ushered into the hotel, after sanitizing our hands AND shoes (I really liked that) straight to check in. We received our welcome drink, Sorrel if I'm not mistaken, and off to our room we went. Unfortunately, we were not received on the 11th floor for the private check-in as stated, so this was misstep number one but it was a seamless process. Also, upon check-in the give you a sanitary kit with hand sanitizer, a mask and wipes. Super important during these nerve wrecking times. We reserved a master suite and we were set in the North Tower, 14th floor - it was HUGE. Too big for two people if I'm being honest but lovely none the less. Two full bathrooms, two balconies and a whole living area set with two love seats and a 4-person table with a wet bar - talk about chic! I absolutely love how all the rooms are ocean front and since it's the Pacific, the sun sets on that side. Views For DAYS! The bed was super plush and comfy however there was this one super odd lumpy pillow. I mean really lumpy lol, an odd thing to notice but when you're trying to sleep on it, it wasnt comfortable. Minor detail obviously and truly a non-issue but I try to include every little detail I can. Also, the safe in our room, 1406, did not work. We were able to lock up our valuables in our bag and we didnt feel like we had cause for concern whatsoever, but others might not feel comfortable so I felt this was definitely something to mention. I'm really not sure where all the negative reviews about the food are coming from. Each meal we had was absolutely great, even with the limited menu. The service was always over the top as the staff was super happy to welcome people back to their resort. I was super appreciative and happy with how pleasant everyone was. Our rockstars at breakfast were Estefany, Francisco, Francisca and Jorge. During dinner I remember David always being so pleasant and accommodating. All our special requests were made without hesitation. The ONLY thing I wish is that the coffee was strong. I'm a serious coffee lover and like my coffee mas fuerte, which it wasnt. Ask for some espresso and you might be good to go. Dinner each night was great. You got to choose from American, Asian, Mexico and Italian options. I thoroughly enjoyed the miso soup, sashimi platter, kretiem, insalada mixta and the polenta with braised beef dish. The pool was, by far, my absolute favorite. Every day we had a cabana reserved which made for a truly comfortable experience, especially if you wanted to lay out and enjoy the scene. FYI - it's the same exact thing as the bali beds which was a little confusing for me with the different verbiage being used. The water temperature was always perfect and the view of the ocean from the infinity pool was absolutely gorgeous. The drinks flowed and Alfredo STAYED OUT TOP OF EVERYTHING! I swear I dont know how he did it and never once got a single request wrong. From food to drinks, he provided the best service, without question. Also, definitely get the wings (SO GOOD!) and the fish tacos. Really enjoyable. We also enjoyed Serrano - the small tapas joint. That didnt open until our third day there. We knew things were a little touch and go with things just reopening - I just wish we could've truly enjoyed ALL the resort had to offer. Two other rock stars I have to shout out are Salvador and my personal favorite, Abraham. Both of them were so welcoming and definitely provided for some fun times. Salvador organized fun games by the pool and is super friendly and engaging. Abraham made it a point to check-in with my wife and I every single day but, beyond that, he did it with everyone. Knew our names after the first day and held conversations with us and EVERYONE on just about every topic you can imagine. He is well versed in so much and very engaging. I also enjoyed the water aerobics classes he facilitated since that was the only exercise I've had since Covid began. A couple of addititonal things to note: The mojito lounge is the absolute cutest thing EVER! It would be the perfect space to rent out for a small event or party! Just lovely with really good hand crafted cocktails! The gym looked well equipped and super clean. Disappointed i didnt take advantage of it because it doesnt seem anyone used it. Last but not least, my spa experience with Yarel was beyond fabulous. I booked the 80 minute fusion massage based off of our travel couple's recommendation and they were spot on. She switched up her technique according to my needs and definitely massaged the knots and kinks out. I felt... connected to her - that's the only way i can describe it and when she used the singing bowls, I actually felt them reverberate at the top and the bottom. truly holistic experience. All in all, we didnt have access to some of the exclusive areas and amenities promised to us in our package, which was a bit disappointing, but we're already planning another trip back - we liked it THAT much! Dont hesitate, just book!
Amazing Staff and Environment
My Fiancé and I went down to Puerto Vallarta for our friend’s wedding. While there, I proposed to my girlfriend. The location of the hotel is stellar! You really couldn't ask for a better location on the bay. The hotel has set up some rocks barricades in the ocean in front of the hotel so that guests have a nice swimming area. There were a number of different people at the resort that made the experience the best ever. We had a great Spanish teacher who was also part of the activities program at the hotel. Abraham Luqui was an amazing instructor during our Spanish Lessons. Additionally, he took a great deal of time with us to ensure that our experience at the resort was comfortable. He was kind and patient and in our humble opinion, has missed his calling to be an educator. He is a resounding benefit to the resort. He is loyal and dedicated to his job, which makes him the best kind of employee. Our pool side service was amazing as well. We had multiple individuals serve us, but a few stand out! Alfredo never stopped running around the pool, picking up empty cups, glasses, and water bottles and returning with fresh drinks as quickly as possible. The pool was clean, the area around the grounds smelled nice, and was very aesthetically pleasing. The ladies cleaning the rooms were very accommodating and always gave us the time that we needed if we were not ready. Our room was cleaned daily!! Swept, mopped, wiped down from top to bottom. I was never concerned about Covid. Our service in multiple restaurants was the best. The presentation of the meals was beyond compare. We have never seen meals laid out with such pleasing artistry. The taste was even better!!! I cannot tell you how amazing he food tasted. I loved the grilled tuna so much that I ate it multiple times. We had a couple of servers that need to be recognized as well!! Daniel in the Shore Grill was a great server. He was quick and always concerned with our happiness. He even took time to ensure that I had an opportunity to speak to him in Spanish. Gently correcting me and teaching me the right phrasing. Many of the ladies were the same way. Unfortunately, I was never prepared to write down all of the names. Their service was impeccable!! This review is not from a person who has never traveled. I have traveled to the Bahamas and stayed at Sandals Resorts. I've been to Europe and Israel. I've stayed in Guanajuato in Mexico. I have traveled and experienced resorts and leisure travel. Not to mention a number of high end experiences in the United States. Our stay at the Grand Fiesta Americana Puerto Vallarta was hands down, the best experience we have ever had. Keep in mind, our journey was during the Covid-19 Pandemic. The hotel's concern for our well-being and the cleanliness of the resort was top notch!!! There are so many great things that I could say about their service!! If you are looking for a place to go that puts service, comfort, leisure, and dedication at the top of their goal board, this is the place for you!!
Buyers Beware!! We purchased a suite. Arrived on 6/26 to be told our suite might not be available till Wednesday 7/1 but still no guarantee. The place is beautiful, food is amazing and only 25% capacity is wonderful. Very good Covid-19 protocol in place. But I want what I paid for. Family of 4 in a room made for two is not acceptable!
Ooof- not my favorite
Firstly, we love PV. Stayed at Hyatt Ziva twice before, but it was sold out when we decided to hop on a plane literally the night before. ( this was Jan 2019) GFAPV LOOKS beautiful. Rooms are sleek and clean, great views, comfortable bed etc. They upgraded us to the club floor on check in, and the check in process was great! We thought we nailed a last minute getaway. Trouble ensues Bars only use sweetened mixes, no fresh juices. We wandered the resort to find other bars/restaurants. Went to Tequila Bar, literally the only two people there. Oh well, let’s talk to the bartender and see if we can make our own fun!! No dice, certainly not paradise. Food, whew, no good at all. Think toddler menu- not chicken tenders, processed nuggets. And that may have been the best thing we ate all week... until I got very ill mid way through the trip. Couldn’t leave the room for two days. Hubs talked them into making me chicken soup ( since I couldn’t stomach the hotdogs and nachos on the room service menu- for real) That helped a bit, and by then, we decided to only eat in town- late brunch, early dinner, back to hotel for vodka soda ( it’s the only thing we could drink- and that’s saying a lot!) I usually find a way to give a five star, whether is service or atmosphere or food... but this one was a total miss.
