Located on the West Coast of Barbados, this AAA, Four-Diamond hotel combines colonial elegance with a refreshingly modern sensibility and acclaimed dining. Originally a private colonial club, the resort is an artfully restored boutique resort that aims to
make your vacation perfect.
When transforming this former club into a deluxe retreat, the designers made sure they respected its history. Artful Old World touches blend seamlessly with modern amenities. All 96 rooms have a private balcony or patio and some have private access to the stunning pools.
The resort features four lagoon-style pools framed by lush tropical gardens. Float up to Sunset Bar and Deck for swim-up service. And, since Sunset Bar and Deck is accessible from the beach, you can quench your thirst, whether you're lounging by the pool or enjoying 400 yards of fine, white sand. Splash around in the sea or stay active with the water sports. Hop on a banana boat or hang tight for a kayak ride. Then take it down a notch with an easy day sailing.
Hungry? Sunset Bar and Deck hosts themed evenings, like the popular Lobster and Jazz Night, where guests indulge in seafood while listening to soulful sounds. There's also Laguna Restaurant for leisurely lunches with a spectacular view of the pools. At Planter's Bar, you can relax in rattan seats with a pre-dinner drink to whet your appetite. Finally, if you want even more variety, the resort participates in a dine-around program; getting around is simple when you take the free water taxi the sister resorts. And, complimentary full breakfast is also offered at the resort.

Laid back Caribbean charm
Colony Club Comments A charming hotel which preserves a certain intimacy notwithstanding the number of rooms The beach frontage is compact (you’re seated cheek by jowl) but the sand and sea are almost picture postcard perfect (although the beach can shelve quite steeply when the tide is going out). But it’s not without its faults Room We’d booked an “Oceanview Room” - but be aware the rooms don’t have a direct view of the sea (and those at the end if the block are in the corner of the courtyard) The room itself was pleasant with reasonable lighting, hanging space, hangers and iron and board. There’s a coffee machine and a kettle (but only 1 plug serving both resulting in having to scrabble behind the tv unit to switch them over). Only 1 large and 1 expresso sized cup for the room! And hardly any coffee pods or tea bags! Plugs generally were in short supply - we found only 1 spare for our rechargers etc Bathroom was well lit with twin sinks and a large mirror. Shower is positioned over bath - an overhead shower only and no hand held shower. Products are screwed to the wall! No cotton wool or cotton buds etc are supplied Hairdryer (thankfully not screwed to the wall!) was reasonably powerful but not very hot Sunloungers outside on the patio - but very little privacy Breakfast Adequate but not great. The staff seemed somewhat disorganised with tables not being reset quickly etc and on some days there was a small queue. Coffee served in a jug - just about ok! Lunch and Dinner - we didn’t eat in so can’t comment Sunset Bar - very slow service! We had an issue with the minibar when we were charged items we hadn’t used. Although we pointed it out immediately, they were still included on our final bill. As were included the drinks we were invited to have at the bar whilst our new room was being made up! Overall - we enjoyed our stay. The things that went well made it great - but it was somewhat marred by things that didn’t go so well and were more of a battle to resolve than they should have been But would we return? Yes - and we’ve already booked again for next year!
Agree with other reviews please please don't change!!
We are due to holiday here this year again but wanted to write this review now. We have been visiting this hotel for quite a few years and are devestated by the news mariott will be turning this into an all inclusive after there recent acquisition of the hotel chain. This is a fantastic hotel with caring staff and high quality food why change it!? We would not visit again after this year if the proposed changes take effect next year 😭 it's been our best place to holiday.... Anyone from mariott viewing this please reconsider!!
Our first time at the colony club has been outstanding. The service has been second to none. The location is great, a short walk into holetown along the beautiful beach. The gardens are a real surprise and unexpected bonus, impeccably maintained and strolling around there are green monkeys to be spotted feeding in the treetops. All in all highly recommended, and a big thank you to all the staff !
fantastic, service, meals, super clean. oceanside and many pools
From the moment we checked in with seating and complimentary drinks to the moment we checked out, everything was done to accommodate your wishes. A lovely Koi Pond in the reception area. First night tapas dinner at the rum vault, with seating for 8 plus excellent prepared food and drinks, plus an excellent presentation of rum distillery and many different drinks, We had a garden view room, with plenty of tropical foliage and mango tree to tease us with not yet ripe fruit. Very laid back, If your are looking for a hot nightspot this is not for you, but if you want ocean, swimming, snorkeling with turtles, relaxation plus super service. This is the way to go. Side trips like deep sea fishing, trips to the caves, and many more can all be arranged from hotel.
