    Excellent Resort

This is the best resort I have ever been too. Their staff are very polite and professional. They have so much entertainment going on to keep you busy. A special thanks to Caryle, Kermar, Dreman, Tom C, Katelyn, Dobbie, and Deshawn. All of the entertainment staff. They make you feel like you're one of them. Definitely, will be back.

    The same, but better!

So, this was our 6th time to the Bahia, but the 1st time to the Luxury side as our children are now both 18. The luxury has the same familiar feel, but with added benefits. We were a family group of 5 in 2 rooms, my wife and I in 1 room and our eldest son and his girlfriend in another. On arrival, the room my wife and I were in received a free upgrade to a pool/sea view as we are Gold members of Mybahia and allocated a room on the 2nd floor in block 26 while my other son had a room facing the front of the property in block 25. Both rooms were clean, well equipped and more than acceptable. Very similar to the Grand side, but slightly fresher, brighter and smarter. Our rooms were serviced by a maid who kept the room impeccably clean and our coffee and minibar was restocked daily. So what are the main differences between the 2 sides? Atmosphere for one. Walking from the luxury to the grand side, you cannot help but notice how it is busier, noisier and dare i say a messier environment. When you see the number of rooms for both sides and compare to the ground space, it is obvious the luxury is more spacious per individual guest and so will feel more special. The other main benefit is the quality of drinks, primarily in the luxury Lobby bar. We were drinking 12 year old Appleton rum as standard (though you have to ask for Appleton specifically, otherwise you will get ordinary Gold rum). Look out for Dashawn behind that bar, he was fantastic and by the end i didn't even have to ask, just indicate how many I wanted! The luxury buffet is also a step up from the grand side. The atmosphere in there was more akin to a large restaurant rather than the very busy buffet next door! Quality of food was more than acceptable with plenty of choice morning, noon and night. We visited all of the a la Cartes as guests at the luxury get 1 a la carte visit per night. Our own opinions may differ to other people, but our favourites were Knife (even though we previously were unsure as we used to love the old roundhouse when that was the Steakhouse, now an extra buffet for the grand side and the late night food bar!), Picasso and Dolce Vita. We didn't enjoy the experience of Ridizzio, the Brazilian Steakhouse, finding the wait for the meet to be delivered frustrating and not knowing how many different meets and in what order they were coming. Was also very hot and uncomfortable eating there at night. Don Pablo was a disappointment too. 1 appetiser was unavailable, leaving a choice of only 3 which we weren't overly keen on. My wife and i had the Chateaubriand, i asked for medium rare and got practically just seared steak and raw in the middle. My wife asked for medium and even the waiter wanted to change it as it was well overdone, but by then we were tired and just wanted to go. However, I have to say, on the whole our eating experiences on every trip to the Bahia have been great, we certainly didn't go hungry or not enjoy our food. We read a lot of reviews of this place and came away astounded how anyone can complain about anything really. This place is such good value for money. Yes it is a big resort, but that is a positive as there is always a spot you can find to enjoy, whether you want a quiet, peaceful spot or somewhere to party and make new friends. I would bet some guests never venture far from there favourite spot and so would miss out on the experience say of the beach at the far end of the resort, 1 of our favourite spots to watch the sun go down and have a swim in the beautiful clear waters. I could go on more, but essentially, we love this place and if you are thinking about it, you must try it. Yes, maybe after 6 visits, we feel the World is a big place and there are other countries and resorts we want/need to see. If you want a taste of this fantastic island, experience it's food, the amazing people/staff like Colin (Tuga), Natrice, Dashawn, Thunder and Andre and have a great time, then go to the Grand Bahia if you have kids or try the Bahia Luxury for an adults only experience! Have fun!

Was not happy with the service

We were extremely disappointed with the service at this resort. American Airlines caused us to miss 2 days 1 night at the resort, and when we checked in the staff was quite rude, told us the manager was not there they were "on property" and there was no way for us to receive anything for our missed 2 days. The rudeness and brushing us off was deeply disturbing.

It was just ok this time

I have been several times to the Bahia in runaway bay. This experience was so so. Nyoka Henry is the best. Odane, Carlisle both pool bartenders on the luxury side amazing. Monaie privilege lounge, Marlon the bell man, Garfield the bell man, Shawna Wilson, Shana Kay, and Sushanne all at the Jazmin buffet amazing. Lester at Las o las buffet great. Staff is always the best, however this trip was not so good as housekeeping the turndown service i am to get o didn’t get and the refill of the minibar. Bigger TVs need to be in the room as well. Please screen your housekeeping better as i had jewelry stolen my second day there. I kept quiet to ensure it was not home and it’s not I’m 100 percent sure housekeeping stole my jewelry.

Weed and Vomit. What is more luxury than that?

This hotel is sold as a luxury hotel and this could not be further from the truth. During evening meals staff have asked to complete reviews via a QR code. Initially you are told this is just a review for management before finding out it has posted as a google review. Staff take your phone and then complete the section by adding 5 stars. They then hand your phone back for you to write a review whilst standing over your shoulder!!! No wonder the hotel has some good reviews then. We come on holiday to try and relax however this is not a place you are able to relax at all. When sleeping on sun loungers entertainers come up and shout “wakey wakey” and constantly being told we should not be sat reading. Yesterday the hotel had a foam party in the pool, we have enjoyed one of these in Mexico last year but this was out of control. There are some guests getting extremely drunk yet still being served to the point we were sat the other side of the pools to try and get some peace and a guest being sick next to us when walking by to then go and smoke a bong in the pool and be served more drinks… this is not luxury at all. When we raised this to management we were told to move pools and sit at a pool shared with the neighbouring hotel? Apparently this is where the majority of English guest go. Maybe we are all boring then!! There has been the beach party today and again more sick on the floor, if you don’t want to be on the beach you have to sit in silence apparently. There are people with glass bottles around the pool and a number being smashed, this is in front of the lifeguards yet nothing. Whilst we appreciate we are coming to Jamaica and there would be guests using weed again this is out of control. We cannot sit on our sun lounger, balcony or at the lobby bar without someone smoking it next to you. As far as I am aware these are public places and there are designated smoking areas at the resort and staff are not dealing with this. They are actually encouraging this to the point a bar staff from the lobby bar kept telling me I needed to try it which I have no desire to do. We have been told by one management member that weed is not to be smoked on the property however another manager dismissed this by saying we are in Jamaica. They seem to have a policy for everything but I would like to be clear they don’t seem clued up on general health and safety for guests at all. Management need to spend one day on the sun loungers to watch weed being circulated by staff! We brought this to their attention and again does not seem to be concerning to them. Whilst we are the luxury side there are kids to the grand side. How is this even remotely acceptable. Yesterday night an entertainer sat on a table at the lobby bar in the evening sat with a couple, they were making fun of a fat person around the pool, this is truly disgusting and will make a number of guest who heard it feel uneasy. This same entertainer was also laughing about police lights flashing on the main road outside the hotel due to the couple he was sitting with smoking weed. Maybe he feels like this because he is sat drinking alcohol with them!!! The same entertainer today is at the pool with three girls grinding against him. The hotel management brushes this off by saying I’m sure he didn’t ask them to do that? Didn’t see him running off instead putting his hands up and laughing about it!! There have been guests in the pool at the early hours of the morning making extreme noise, I went on the balcony as I could not sleep to watch staff walk past these people and do nothing. We have seen cockroaches within the restaurant on salads, whilst I understand there will be cockroaches in the hotel these should be controlled from food environments. In terms of the entertainment the website says it is held at the village which is the next door hotel however this is only one night per week, the rest of the entertainment is located inside. We enjoy being able to sit outside for entertainment but this is not the case. If you do want to sit outside the entertainment is very limited. The pool entertainment is extremely loud with a number of guests saying the same. If this isn’t bad enough you then have about 20 different speakers played by guests despite there being signs to use headphones staff are ignoring this again. How can you even try to relax when all you can hear is the song “if you are happy and you know it clap your hands” is this really adults only? One evening entertainment was so excessively loud we had to leave due to not being able to talk when shouting and sitting right next to each other!!! This entertainment exceed 100dB which is not an acceptable noise level to be exposed to for the period of time! Pools are obviously cleaned at the start of the day but we didn’t see them being cleaned whilst sat there so the build up of sun cream, debris, leaves and wasps in the pool were awful. It may be called luxury but really this is one big drug house with no management or control of any issues. DO NOT BOOK THIS!!!!!!!!
