Amazing Vacation!

If you’re trying to decide where to go or where to stay, look no further! Sonesta Maho Resort in Sint Maarten was absolutely amazing. The resort sits on a beautiful beach with beautiful water (NO SESWEED)! There are six dining options. They are all open for dinner, most for lunch, and the buffet only for breakfast. An Italian Restaurant, a Caribbean spot, a buffet spot, a pub, an Asian spot, and a Mexican spot. There is something for everyone! My only suggestion is that the hotel come up with a better way to do reservations than at the kiosk or make sure the kiosk runs smoother or faster. Some restaurants require reservations and you have to book at one of the kiosks in the hotels, but the thing moves so slow. Usually if you just go to the restaurant or call them, they will book it fo you. I even just showed up at the time I wanted to eat and they were generally able to get me seated with 15-20 minutes. If you have a large group-I suggest calling first. The rooms are very, very nice. They are clean, updated, mini bar, everything was good. Be mindful that the island and resort are both still recovering and rebuilding from the devastating effects of Hurricane Irma so while the resort is fully functional, they are still building and doing a little bit of construction. None of which you will ever hear or will ever interfere with your stay. Also, the resort is a five minute drive from the hotel which is only a 10 dollar taxi ride. There are various excursions that you can do, I’d suggest doing the Flying Dutchman ziplining experience-absolutely amazing time with some amazing views of the island. And please, please do the ATV excursion. There are activity sales people in the hotel who have a whole slew of available activities for you to purchase and from researching, their prices are fairly priced, sometimes less than other places. They aren’t pushy, so don’t worry. You get the opportunity to go into the island and visit both the French and Dutch sides and see more of the beautiful beaches and what the island has to offer. The service was great. The people were beyond friendly. Best. Vacation. Ever! GO! You won’t regret

You get what you pay for

Our room, 6th floor , ocean front, was only average. The A/C could barly keep up with the heat of the day. Buffet breakfast and lunch were less than average. ala cart restaurants were better. Dinner ,at reservation restaurants were poor. The meal was poor at the point restaurant, and no air conditioning. We walked out of Jink , without even sitting down, because it was so hot, choosing instead to pay out of pocket for a local steak house. Frozen drinks from any of the resort bars , were equally disappointing , they had no taste. No suprize , but beach umbrella's were all taken by 8 am , par for the course no matter where you travel. there are many better options for my vacation dollar. Soneste Maho needs to step up their game. We did enjoy being on St Maartin, and plan to revisit , just not here. Thank You

Worst vacation

This is the worst hotel to stay at. No service. Staff is so unfriendly and so angry. They only have 2 employees to check people in. So long wait just to check in. And rooms weren’t ready by 3 o’clock. AC at rooms is horrible and both of my kids were hot and sweaty all time. Food is extremely horrible. Every day lunch and dinner chicken drumsticks. Again this is lunch and dinner EVERY DAY. We spent thousands of dollars here and all we eat is pasta and drumstick EVERY DAY. Even coffee was horrible and cream had bugs in it and yes i mean bugs and i took a photo and i will attach it with this review. Beach was nice but they only have about 10 umbrellas for hundreds of people and you really have to wake up 6 am to reserve one. This hotel is awful AWFUL and i really feel sorry for my wife and kids. We are EXTREMELY ANGRY. All employees are LIARS. You ask for something they direct you to another employee because they are so lazy and deceiving. And they are RUDE. And i mean it. They yell at you out loud if you just try to ask for anything. No parties like other hotels were we stayed at before on other vacation. No shows at night. NO FRESH JUICE. All they have is apple/ pineapple/orange and water. And even those are so watered down and coming from a machine and most of the time they don’t even have cups and if you ask just for a cup, you either get a bad attitude or wait for a Long time just to get a cup. We stayed at room 681. And i wish I could meet with the owner to show him how horrible his place is and I really don’t think it will stay in business for longer time. I will tell you I haven’t met ONE person happy about his stay here. Whoever is reading this review, do your self a favor..STAY AWAY FROM THIS RESORT.

Good but not great

Hotel is nice and clean, convenient and easy to get to. Lines at bars and restaurants were long, buffet often out of popular choices, reservations we’re near impossible to be had (even attempting to book the day of arrival for later in week). Attitude of many bartenders/servers was good but also experienced many who were unpleasant. Overall opinion is that with better staffing and step up the food this place would be awesome; but for now it is simply average.
