Picture this: the majesty of the Sierra Madres and turquoise of Banderas Bay lay out before you in all their crazy, delicious splendor. Nearby the kiddos are hard at work in a sand castle competition while you're hard at work on one very important task: relaxing. The night has so many possibilities - drinks on the rooftop and gourmet grub for dinner. But right now, you'll have another mojito. Then launch into another crucial assignment: napping.

Not the deal of fortune we expected
Dreams Villamagna Nuevo Vallarta
To begin, this is our 5th trip booked with cheap Caribbean.com, 2nd Deal of Fortune. Upon our arrival we notice the largest pool (1of3) was empty and under repairs. We were NOT notified of this by either cheapcaribbean nor the hotel staff during check in. It was closed the whole 6 days we were there. I did email cheapcaribbean about the disappointment and how we expected to be put at a 4.5 FULL functioning resort and our their response back was you will have you work it out with the hotel.... wait, what?? This should have been taken care of by cheapcaribbean.com and we should have been moved to a better rated, FULL functioning resort. The hotel did nothing other than sorry it will only be down a day. It was down the whole time we were there.
Now our opinion on the hotel. It is not a 4.5 hotel rather 3.5-4 at best. The food is less than desirable. Not many options at the buffet and few restaurant choices daily. There is not a swim up bar and you are not allowed drinks in the pool. You were lucky to find a good server. We liked Alberto (pool) and Martin (world cafe).
There are 5 buildings stretching from the beach to the main road. The first 3 are residential. Hotel ocean view will be obstructed but trees and such. Tropical rooms, which we had, was placed against the road and you were able to hear traffic and deliveries all hours of the night. The elevators were slower than molasses, without air flow.
As far as activities, it was hard to say if they even happened. They had them at the small pool by the lobby and the entertainment group never came to the other pool to invite people to participate. If you like to float in the pool, bring your own floats. We did that and it was nice. The gym is small and the cardio equipment is old. However, you can at least workout. The drinks, if you’re drinking, are VERY watered down. So expect to either do shots or drink a lot of calories.
Overall, when we have paid for a 4.5 sun resort, we normally leave happy and feel like that’s what we received. This trip however, was NOT the case. We will not be staying there again and are disappointed how cheapcaribbean.com handled our complaint.

The staff was very pleasant and accomodating and the facilities were well maintained and comfortable.
The problem was with the food, both the dining options and the quality of the offerings. My wife and I both experienced stomach issues the last several days of uour stay and these continued on for another few days after we reurned home.
We did not dine outside of the resort, so I can only assume it was from something there. This is not something I would expect for a resort with it's current rating.
Beautiful quaint resort ! Very clean. The service was awesome. Johnny in the dining room was the best! Really had a great time with Mateo on the activities staff. Bike tours were fun.
We just got back from Dreams Villamagna, and had a great experience. The rooms were very clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, and most spoke excellent English -- better than most Americans, actually, and the food was really good. Also, I have a food allergy, and the chefs were very good about talking to me about the menu and assuring me that they are very careful about cross contamination.
Before our trip, I had read some of the previous reviews about the food being subpar. This wasn't our experience at all. I highly recommend the guava mole at the Mexican restaurant -- best mole I've ever had, and I have sampled a lot -- and the trio of fish tacos at Oceana. Mostly we ate at the buffet, though, because it opened a bit earlier than the sit-down restaurants, and since we were on a different time zone schedule, we usually couldn't wait the extra hour, especially after working up an appetite all day swimming in the ocean. The buffet is on the smallish side, but the food was good quality, and there were plenty of choices to satisfy everyone in our family of 4.
The only downside is that it was really hot, being August and all. We found that if we got up right at 7am, we had a good 7 hours of good temps before the air got too humid. Then, we'd have a long lunch, and rest in the room a bit until dinner. I would suggest to the resort that they provide more umbrellas or covered seating at both the pool and beach though. But that's the only real downside we found at this resort.
The entertainment was pretty good most nights -- don't miss Dancing with the Star Wars. Seems like it would be cheesy, but it's actually a very cute and funny show. The bands in the lobby each night after the 'main entertainment show' were really good as well.
