Fun, Sun and Relaxation

We loved our trip to Secrets Maroma Beach! We were upgraded to a swim out room that was absolutely gorgeous! The rooms were recently renovated and were extremely clean. The beach was beautiful and relaxing with plenty of chairs for everyone. The ocean water was warm and clear and the shades of blue were amazing. The pool area was great and even had floats for the guests use. You do have to get out there early to reserve the best seats at the pools as they fill up fast. Overall the food was good. My only complaint is that they do not have the regular buffet open for dinner. The restaurants are definitely a slow dining experience so if you want to eat quick there wasn't an option in the evening. Our favorite bar was the Sugar Reef. It was fun to swing at the bar while having a drink! Antonio was the best bar tender!! #cheapcaribbean

Beautiful resort

Spent 6 amazing days. Service and food were excellent. Staff was fabulous!! Beach was beautiful! If I had to pick at something...it would be that the restaurants do not have water views. Also, the partial view rooms have no view! I would say that maybe 20% of the rooms would actually have a decent partial view, mainly because of the overgrown palms and trees, definitely not the view the website shows. They took us to 3 different rooms and none of the. Looked anything like the website shows. Other than that, it is a great resort!

Not worth it.

1) the resort was supposed to be non smoking but people were smoking everywhere and the staff didn’t care. 2) lunch time meals were limited. Breakfast was limited. Only the buffet was open for breakfast and the food was the same every single day. Lunch time was limited too. Weird hours for lunch and the same menu every single day. 3) our swimout room had a private pool shared with 8 other rooms but others kept using it and having parties outside our room. I called the desk and security did nothing. 4) the beach had a lot of seaweed making it hard to swim. 5) drinks were just ok but there isn’t much to do and nothing is open after 11 pm. 6) took a snorkeling tour from the resort. We were gone 10 hours and 7 of those were spent in a van, they don’t tell you that. It was not worth the money. 7) ordered room service to be delivered for breakfast before we left on our snorkeling tour ( none of the restaurants open before 7 and the tours all leave before 7), room service refused delivery!!! Had to get hotel manager involved. Room service is supposed to be 24 hours but isn’t. 8) they were offering spa gift cards if you sat through the vacation club presentation. The gift cards and the resort credits COULDNT BE UAED AT THE SPA. THE SPA REFUSED THEM. 8) the cheap Caribbean prices I paid were not good compared to what some of the people told me they paid. This one is onme.

Excellent Resort

It is an excellent resort with a variety of entertainments. The staff are very friendly and eager to help. The only issue we had was with the air conditioning in our room that was not working, and they were able to fix it., so they provided a different room for the last 2 nights of our 4-night stay. Although, there are different dining options (Mexican, Italian, French and Japanese), out of the first three options, the French was very good, but the others were average. For the Japanese, we missed our reservation. The breakfast and other food stands throughout the resorts were very good. We enjoyed all the sport activities, but the resort can benefit from a basketball court (even half court is good!). We also enjoyed the nightly shows and the casino night. Finally, a minor issue we had was to have a table for our whole family of 15; we had to split to at least two table which sometimes were quite far from each other. Overall, we had wonderful time at the Secrets resort, and I definitely recommend it to my friends and other family members.

What's to Love

Being spoiled by the sparkling champagne and cool towel upon arrival.

Chic, breathtaking interiors in warm earth tones with stunning vistas of the turquoise sea.

Powdery, velvety sand that never gets hot.

The cushy spa that boasts a spa garden, hydrotherapy circuit and outdoor massage cabins. Sa-weet.

Free round of golf at the Grand Coral Riviera Maya that was designed by PGA champion Nick Price.

Dining under a private palapa at Oceana. Rock star existence, it is.

The lit tennis courts - who doesn't love this?

What We'd Change

Secrets Maroma Beach Riviera Cancun does enforce a dress code for some of their more upscale restaurants, but it gives you an excuse to shop.

Why You Should Go

The resort is located 20 miles south of the airport so you are heartbeats away from your first delicious vacay cocktail.

The French restaurant, Bordeaux, has a wine cellar. Not too shabby.

Zip lines, swim with dolphins and eco-adventures are near - there might be a fee, but go for it. You only live once.

Chichen Itza and Coba Ruins are near - both are historical and beguiling.

Water sports out the wazoo: sea kayaking, catamaran, water skiing, snorkeling and windsurfing.

When you've had enough sun, you can check out archery, dance lessons, and billiards.
