Best Vacation Ever at Occidental Resort at Xcaret

This review will be very detailed because there are so many things to discuss regarding this resort. I am going to split up the reviews into different categories to make it easier to read and more efficient. This is an honest and unbiased review and I hope that it will help you. Hotel Room: The rooms are very clean and spacious. The entire resort has this nice smell, almost jungle-like mixed with a bit of lemon, in my opinion. Everything in the room is in perfect order. There is lots of space for all of your belongings. There is also a mini bar inside the room that is stocked with lots of beverages which are included in the room price for you. The mini bar is automatically restocked every other day, but if you want to you can dial 0 and it will be restocked sooner. Inside the room, you are also provided with slippers, combs, shoe polishers, and so many more things that make your stay more enjoyable. However, I should mention this, make sure to keep your balcony door closed at all times because there is no net to keep bugs or animals from coming in. For example, my family and I found a small lizard in our room one night. It wasn't anything big or threatening but it was still there. So, keep that door closed. Also, the AC in the room doesn't have the option to provide just a tiny bit of cold. It is only a lot of cold or no cold at all. Also, the air conditioner made some noise during the night which as a little bothersome. Dining: Saying that the restaurants are amazing is an understatement. There are 5 restaurants and all of them provide excellent food and service. Some restaurants are only open for breakfast and lunch, while others may be open for lunch and dinner. Regardless, there are many options to choose from. Keep in mind that the dinner restaurants are more a la carte and due to this they require a dress code. Meaning that you cannot wear beach sandals or beach clothing. Also, men have to wear long pants, close-toed shoes, and a t-shirt. Staff: All of the staff members are incredibly nice. There are lots of staff members walking around the hotel doing their jobs and whenever they pass by you they always say hi in Spanish. I don't think that a single staff member has passed by without saying hi to my family and me. And let's not forget about the waiters and servers who make you feel like royalty. Every single waiter that we have had at the resort treated us with the utmost respect, care, and politeness. They make small talk with you and make you laugh. Most importantly, they are not fake. The waiters and servers at this resort are very genuine and make you feel very special. On some very rare occasions, the staff members took too long to get to our room to help us with some things. Overall, the staff members are great. Beach: I would call their beach more of a gulf, but it is still a beach nonetheless. Their water has a very beautiful color. There is a little bit of seaweed in the water, but they do have a net at the entrance of the gulf that not only keeps the seaweed out but also keeps people from being swept by the currents. Since this beach is a gulf, there are workers who work around the clock at the beach to move the sand from one place to another so that the sand doesn't pile up in one spot. The sand there is super soft and therapeutic for your feet. Near the beach is a bar and lots of lounge chairs, hammocks, and many places to sit and enjoy the sun. Wildlife: I feel like this is an important category to talk about because there is a lot of wildlife at the resort. There are some monkeys are the resort, however, they are kind of shy and so you may not see them. There are also lots of deer which are very friendly and they won't tun away from you. Lizards, lots and lots of lizards sunbathing everywhere. Don't worry they don't bite and they just lay around and if you get too close they run away. Nothing to be afraid of! The Entire Resort Itself: The entire resort is impeccably clean. There are lots of cleaning people that are constantly sweeping the floor to get rid of the leaves, or people repainting the walls to make sure that they are clean. There are also lots of little hiking trails that you can take which are very serene and quiet. There is also a Tulum, an old Mayan building, on the resort property which you can visit for free on your own time. When they give you a map, the resort may look big, but it is actually a decent size. It looks bigger than it really is. Overall: Overall the resort is great. They have tons of things for you to do, so you could never be bored. There are lots of food options so there is something for everybody to eat. Even a picky eater will love their food. The cleanliness of the resort is astonishing. The staff members are incredibly nice and helpful. The beach is clean and well maintained. I have not visited the pools so I have nothing to say about them. All in all, this has been my favorite resort that I have ever been to. I would strongly recommend this resort to anybody that wants to go to Mexico.

Want To Go Back

This was an amazing vacation! Cheap Caribbean will arrange just about everything for you. The Occidental was beautiful with so much to offer. It is definitely a large resort so bring your walking shoes. It never felt crowded though! The grounds, pools, and all other areas were so well kept. The staff were so courteous and willing to help with anything. I can’t wait to go back! Also, the Xcaret Park was right next door! You could ride a “gondola “ or walk 3 mins to the entry. Food was really good as well, with lots of different options!
