Overall you get what you pay for. Do not expect 5 star service. At a few of the restaurants our request were not made or even considered. When I advised of allergies the staff seemed annoyed. We ordered room service and when we called to check in the status the time kept on changing. Every time it was they are 10min away needless to say the food was cold. By the pool expect to see animals cuito running around the resort jumping on your table. At the buffet they had a few loose cats running around which seemed to be the norm. Over all the service was very poor we had asked for a beer more than once and the service stayed to our party you did not request anything to me. If you have food allergies be aware that a lot of the food is labeled incorrectly. The rooms are nice and spacious. The hotel has golf carts driving around all day to get you too and from the rooms and common areas.

Better than our last trip to Mexico

We went to Riveria Maya a few years ago and had a good time, but this time it was much better due to the resort. It was nicely decorated and clean. I loved that it was a really relaxed environment with so many food options. The pool was HUGE and it was never crowded which was awesome. One thing that was kind of a negative was that they stopped room service at 11 PM whereas the last place we stayed had 24 hour room service. I did have an issue with service because we needed umbrellas and were at the front desk and they said they were in our rooms. After going to our buildings in the rain, without umbrellas, there were no umbrellas to be found in our rooms. An hour later after having a tense discussion with someone at the front desk, we were finally given umbrellas (and by then it stopped raining). Overall, I would definitely suggest this resort for the price we payed. Definitely a beautiful area to visit!

Iberostar Beach

The resort was very big but beautifully kept the grounds were well maintained. The rooms were of a decent size, however the bathrooms were small and the door opened inward and blocked the sink and counter. The beds were comfortable, and the service of the rooms was very good. We did have to ask for maintanence to adjust the A/C so we could be a little cooler at night. However it seemed to go off during the night to conserve energy. On one day we were only given one face cloth. We were on an all inclusive package, the refridgerator only had some soda and beer, with no liquor. The bars had plenty of choices if you drink Tequila or Rum but was limited to only one Bourbon and few Vodkas. I would have liked to see some better Bourbons and Vodkas available. There was no champagne, only sparkling wines from Mexico or Spain. We stayed five nights and were only allowed to make reservations at two of the sitdown/specialty restaurants. We do not mind eating breakfast and lunch at the buffets but prefer to have a sitdown/order at table dinner when on vacation. We attempted to make our two dinner reserevations on the first day of arrival and found the restaurants we preferred to eat at were already booked for normal dinner hours and only had times available after 9PM. We ended up at a Japanese restaurant that was very noisy and the food all tasted the same ( Would not go there again). The one Gormet restaurant was excellent and the Buffet food was very good.

Beach

Complex was very large, grounds were well maintained. The units were spacious but the bathrooms were small and the door opened inward and blocked the sink and counter. You had to close the door in order to use the sink, etc. The bathroom lighting was poor, no lights alongside or around mirror. I also saw some very small ants in the batroom. The noise at night from the entertainment center was very loud and you could hear the "Thump, Thump" of the base from any music until midnight.. It was very annoying when trying to sleep after 9or 9:30pm. The restaurant situation was not impressive. We had to eat most meals at the Buffet, no complaints about the Buffet selections but we like to eat dinner at a restaurant where we can get table service, sit down and order off the menu. We were limited to only two reservations at the specialty restaurants and we were unable to get into the ones that we wanted. We were stuck at the Japanese restaurant (due to dates and times) and the food was very poor. Everything we ate tasted the same because of the seasoning and sauces they used were all put on everything. We did have one Concierge (Eddie) get us a reservation at one restaurant because we went to a sales pitch for the club, but the Matriede" was not very pleasant when we showed up early with another couple. He was quite rude to the women.
