Great bargain

We bought this trip for our family of 5. We were not disappointed! The resort is beautiful, plenty of options on food, and there were shows every night. Vendors came to the hotel 2 times during our week, which was great to buy souvenirs for family. My only complaint was them being very pushy with the time share presentation. We declined, but they seemed to be very consistent. We definitely will go back - best vacation we have ever been on!

JUST OK

When booking we chose the basic room but once my boyfriend and I got to the hotel we decided to upgrade to the platinum wristbands. They sell you on upgrading with all these cool things but ultimately its: 1 – A nicer room on the Ventus side of the hotel 2 – Access to the premium lounge and premium alcohol 3 – Unlimited restaurant reservations There are other little things that come with upgrading, but these were the big things. It was worth the extra charge to be on the nicer side of the hotel. We were right by the “food court” where there were 6 different restaurants – we ate there daily. The Mexican fajitas were amazing! I highly recommend going there because it’s made to order. We were also right by the adults only pool which was really rice, it had a great view of the ocean and a nice breeze. It said tips are included but everyone expects one, so be prepared with small bills. We booked an excursion with CheapCaribbean (we did it once we got there) I HIGHLY recommend doing one! We went on a boat to an island where we got to see the #1 beach in Mexico and do some shopping. I was so disappointed that there was 0 shopping at the hotel. We only ate at the Italian restaurant which was great – I recommend the beef medallions. Was disappointed that there was only 1 house wine – all other bottles we had to buy, and they were pricy. The buffet food in the Marina lobby was mediocre – the buffet food by the main pool in Marina was terrible. Breakfast was good, I recommend trying their watermelon water/juice. I would 100% eat at the food court for lunch and make a reservation for dinner – try to avoid the buffets if you can for dinner. Overall this resort is nice, be prepared for a seaweed problem due to the hurricane and a smell that comes along with that (not the hotels fault - but just a heads up) The hotel does try to clean up the seaweed daily but there is still a lot. We did go to the beach for laying out and relaxing – no one goes on the beach, so it was nice to be alone. I attached a picture of the view from where we sat. The night time entertainment was very aimed at children – so this was nothing special. We watched one show and left right away. This was a nice trip and we had a ton of fun but it wasn’t great, so we wouldn’t go back.

resort

-Resort should have directions for visitor on each corner with arrows pointing to buildings names -Room should be as customer requested , I have no clue where is my room will be at, , agent will say something and resort won't honer it. -Food not great, any resort has same type of food, no quality as you expected . -I spent 4 days, saw sea food once ( shrimps), soon is finished , no more, if you are lucky and you are there , you may get chance to eat shrimp otherwise you don't see the sea food. -Beach was terrible , seaweed can't described ..I went to Mexico to swim in the beach, but the seaweed made it impossible to go to the water . -since my reservation was all inclusive, I have the right to make reservations in any of the restaurants, but when you get to the restaurant and they seat you , they treat you like garbage. you can see the different between your table service and another table order wine or other food required to pay .

Hotel Description

Hotel Marina El Cid Resort: Experience All-Inclusive Luxury

If you've been seeing white-sands, swaying palm trees and blue water instead of traffic jams, cramped cubicles and mindless sitcoms, you know it's time for a vacation. Choose Hotel Marina El Cid in Riviera Maya, where you'll find those palm trees and blue ocean, as well as warm breezes and a private beach of lovely white sand ready for you to ease your restless mind.

This all-inclusive, oceanfront resort, less than 20 minutes from Cancun International Airport, overlooks Puerto Morelos National Reef Park on the Mayan Riviera, just a hop, skip and a jump from the charming fishing village of Puerto Morelos. Scuba divers and snorkelers can explore the off-shore reef that ranks as the second-largest in the world, while the water lovers find their sanctuary in the heated infinity pool or the 22,000-sq-ft, free-form pool, complete with a swim-up bar, cascading waterfalls, and in-water lounge chairs. A designated children's area hosts a network of waterslides to keep the kids happy, while the adult-only section features a spa tub, sun deck, and a Jacuzzi bar-and-massage area.

But to find the essence of relaxation, go no further than Scaramanga Bar and Lounge, where you can enjoy all-inclusive cocktails while swaying in rope hammocks or lying on plush mattresses on the warm sand. Visit Hacienda Arrecife, poolside, for classic Mexican dishes and 100-plus brands of tequila to keep you palate wet. If you are hankering for something a little different, wander into El Alcazar for gourmet Mediterranean fare, where an extensive wine cellar and delicacies, such as duck breast and beef filet prove irresistible.

Complete your daytime adventure with a dolphin swim before returning to your exquisite Junior Suite, with an ocean, garden or pool view, where you'll find yourself surrounded by contemporary decor and a mild Mediterranean palette of warm colors. Or, if your energy still abounds, just stop by for a change of clothes before taking to the Lobby Bar Cafe & Lounge for a night of live music.
