Mosquitos

This was our 3rd time to El Cid. 2nd time we’ve brought our friends back. Absolutely horrible experience this time around. We paid a nice amount to get a swim up room over at Ventus and could not enjoy due to the horrific amount of mosquitos that attack you. I feel we should have been warned. Our room had tons of dead mosquitos in it and we were bitten every night while trying to sleep, this used to be my favorite spot but I dont see us going back. I have bite marks all over me. I’d pit a pic but my last review was not posted because it said I violated guidelines.attached you’ll see dead mosquitos all over our floor.

Mosquitoes

When we checked in we asked for an upgrade to a swim up room which the check in clerk was more then happy to do when we got to our beautiful room and went to check out the swim up pool we were covered in mosquitoes they were everywhere.needless to say we couldn’t use the pool the whole time we were there now I know the resort can’t control the mosquitoes but they could have warned us about all the mosquitoes wasted my money and will never go back!!!

First let me say I don't like giving negative reviews and our experience at the resort was pleasurable overall. We had a great time with our family. The hotel was beautiful and clean, and the room was very spacious. It was very nice but there was a musty mildew smell in all the rooms I got to see. My sister in-law said that this is what you experience in all Mexican hotels. I find that hard to believe but as this is the only time I have or will be in Mexico I will take her word for it. There were little things other then the mildew smell like - the chain on the ceiling fan was missing so we could not change the speed. Part of the railing on our balcony was loose which we reported to the front desk at checkout. There was a water dripping sound behind the wall that was continuous ( I will assume it was either the AC draining or the bathrooms on the floors above us) There seemed to be more mosquito's inside then we saw outside - I guess when they clean the room they leave the door open and they get in. When we ate at the "Seafood" restaurant there were a lot of them there as well. The only day we had issue outside was the day we left and it had just rained. The service was excellent and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Most of the staff spoke at least a little English but know Spanish is a big help and goes a long way. Unfortunately when we were there they had a bad seaweed problem (not their fault) so the beach was a no go. But the pools were great. My wife and I don't usually do not do all inclusive as we are not big eaters. With that said the food was very rich and everyone seemed to love it but my wife and I try and eat healthy so we knew going in that we would have an issue. Everything was either covered with a cream sauce or had lots of cheese. The salads were good but we would have loved some plain grilled chicken or fish. The drinks were okay but it depended on which bar you got them from as to their quality. We had no issue with any of the drinks with Ice in them and none of our party got sick. Over all we had a good relaxing time.

Best place ever!

This was by far one of the best places we have been to in years. The service, the food, the environment, and the room accommodations were all first class. Because of the red tide (called something else there) it was pretty much impossible to go into the water, but the many options for pools compensated so well, we didn't really miss the beach as much as we thought we would. We will definitely go back again.

Hotel Description

Hotel Marina El Cid Resort: Experience All-Inclusive Luxury

If you've been seeing white-sands, swaying palm trees and blue water instead of traffic jams, cramped cubicles and mindless sitcoms, you know it's time for a vacation. Choose Hotel Marina El Cid in Riviera Maya, where you'll find those palm trees and blue ocean, as well as warm breezes and a private beach of lovely white sand ready for you to ease your restless mind.

This all-inclusive, oceanfront resort, less than 20 minutes from Cancun International Airport, overlooks Puerto Morelos National Reef Park on the Mayan Riviera, just a hop, skip and a jump from the charming fishing village of Puerto Morelos. Scuba divers and snorkelers can explore the off-shore reef that ranks as the second-largest in the world, while the water lovers find their sanctuary in the heated infinity pool or the 22,000-sq-ft, free-form pool, complete with a swim-up bar, cascading waterfalls, and in-water lounge chairs. A designated children's area hosts a network of waterslides to keep the kids happy, while the adult-only section features a spa tub, sun deck, and a Jacuzzi bar-and-massage area.

But to find the essence of relaxation, go no further than Scaramanga Bar and Lounge, where you can enjoy all-inclusive cocktails while swaying in rope hammocks or lying on plush mattresses on the warm sand. Visit Hacienda Arrecife, poolside, for classic Mexican dishes and 100-plus brands of tequila to keep you palate wet. If you are hankering for something a little different, wander into El Alcazar for gourmet Mediterranean fare, where an extensive wine cellar and delicacies, such as duck breast and beef filet prove irresistible.

Complete your daytime adventure with a dolphin swim before returning to your exquisite Junior Suite, with an ocean, garden or pool view, where you'll find yourself surrounded by contemporary decor and a mild Mediterranean palette of warm colors. Or, if your energy still abounds, just stop by for a change of clothes before taking to the Lobby Bar Cafe & Lounge for a night of live music.
