Great Value! We love this place...

We love the Grand Oasis Tulum. We have been there three times over the past year and will probably go back again. The restaurants are wonderful but if you're not a sea food lover things could get mundane fast. My husband LOVES seafood but I don't eat it at all. Most restaurants only have one entree that isn't seafood of some kind. We chose to eat at the actual restaurants and not the buffets. The couple times we did though, there were a lot of choices (still a lot of seafood). The beach is great. This last time we were there, there was a lot of sea weed, but we later saw men on the beach digging holes in the sand and burying it. Although there was a lot more this last time (in late August) than on previous trips, it didn't affect snorkeling or hanging out in the ocean, splashing around. The snorkeling is pretty good off of this beach. There is a reef within swimming distance of shore. We love to snorkel so we brought our own snorkel gear. If you don't, the resort has a snorkeling class that is free and they take you out, using their gear, which means you have to give it back at the end of the class. All in all we think this place is a pretty good value, with snorkeling from shore being our main priority. The entertainment crew is awesome (shout out to Jovana and Jon Paul). The shows were better than expected at night. We also loved the convenience of the coffee shop and the coffee is pretty tasty. Shout out here to Noeli at Me Coffee...service with a smile! As well as my favorite restaurant, Serape, and Marisol...it's always nice to see her.

Amazing!

Please ignore any negative reviews. This place is beautiful, laid out great, food fantastic. Going this late in the season we had no trouble eating anywhere we wanted. No reservations. People so friendly and helpful. They all appear to love their jobs and smile all the time. Coffee and me coffee shop ... Perfect. Noeli was so cute and friendly. Came in for coffee just to see her smiling face. Will definitely go back.

Mediocre

During my stay at Gran Oasis Tulum I had so many complaints (I am not a person to ever write a negative review) but it was too much to deal with during this vacation. For the first time after visiting the Riviera Maya after the 3 or 4th day I just wanted to go home or look for somewhere else to stay. My room was a total disaster!!! First my bed sheets and pillows had visible mold all over. Second the lights flickered on and off constantly on two separate occasions the maintenance guy had to come fix them. My husband had to uninstall the lights because they were not stable. My restroom was gross there was water scum all over the bath tub, around the water drain it was completely rusted causing the water to turn yellow all over my feet and the water wouldn't drain. The actual shower didn't work we had to shower with the little bit of water that would come out because if we put the pressure of the water colder or hotter the shower head and pull up diverter tub spout would splatter water everywhere but on us. The toilet when flushed made a very loud and painful noise for about 3 minutes and it caused the sink not to be able to be turned on because the water pressure from the toilet filling up wouldn't disperse water to the sink. The air-conditioning made a horrible sound when turned on it was hard to sleep and even hear each other in the room. When we turned the air off it got very humid. The room smelled like mold. I can however say that housekeeping was very good cleaning and keeping toiletries and mini bar stocked. I was appalled by the food at the buffet and Italian Restaurant it was stale and tasteless. The Mexican Restaurant was good and authentic. The pools were not cleaned and I don't think that the filters worked because there was green gunk at the corners of the pools. The bar tenders were horrible barely giving service and they would close by 5 when he pools open until 8. There was barely to no entertainment or music to hear. The shows were mediocre. Most resorts clean the beaches this resort didn't even make it to the beach. The pools around the rooms I can say I saw were being cleaned and the grounds were well kept. The front desk lacked friendliness and willingness to want to accommodate its guest. I spoke to several guest that were dissatisfied and even asked to be transferred to a sister property or be refunded. I can however say I asked for the same but was offered a room on a waiting list two days before my departure a room was available but it was not worth me packing my stuff and my 3 family members things for two days. Of the 7 days we only actually spent 2 on the property as a last resort because we found ourselves pretty miserable in the facility. Given that my family and I travel 4 times a year for the past 10 years this was the least and most enjoyed vacation given the several inconveniences we ran into while staying at Gran Oasis Tulum.

Not what I was expecting

Let me start of by saying not all the staff in the Grand Oasis Tulum was bad just some of them but let me tell you the good things about the Hotel and then I go with the bad, Like I said the Resort is not bad just some workers made it bad. The hotel is well-kept, and the location is beautiful. We reserved a oceanfront room and we were not disappointed, The view was absolutely gorgeous. The water is crystal clear, and nice and warm! The hotel was not too packed which was nice and relaxing. The absolute best part of this hotel is the location. Negative parts: We stayed an entire week in the hotel and we did not get one hot shower... The water was always cold! ( we tested this a different times of the day )... However the worst part of the hotel has to be the food ! The buffet serves the exact same thing every day, not a great selection , and the quality of the food is terrible, The hotel makes you think that there are many dining options, however they are by reservations only. The problem here is that you have to come every morning at 9 AM in the lobby to make a reservation for the same day, if not you're forced to go to that yucky buffet! What really upset me about this is that most of the day tours start between 7 AM to 9 AM, so if you have a tour scheduled that day you can forget about making a reservation you wont make it. The staff were difficult and unaccommodating every time I went to the bar by the beach they were always out of ice they would tell me if you want me to make you a drink go get ice from the bar next to the lobby maybe they have some I complain several times to the Hotel manager which at that time made them get ice and do the drink but after of couple of hours they had no ice again. So I was forced to drink beer or can sodas because they had those in the fridge. The check out in the lobby is the worst there is they don't thank you for staying at the resort they just say you owe this amount and how are you going to pay. It was the most disappointing vacation I've ever had we have stayed in different resorts in Cancun and in the Riviera Maya and none of them disappointed me this place did so last time we stay at the Grand Oasis Tulum but we will return to the area due to the amazing history and natural beauty of Tulum/Cancun.
