Great entertainment

Overall the resort was very nice. We stayed in Coba which was full of families so if you don’t have kids, I would suggest their Tulum resort. There were less families there and the beach was easy to access. If you stay in Coba, you have to take their tram over which runs around every 10 minutes so it’s not bad. There is not waitstaff at the pool or beach so you do always have to walk to a nearby bar to get your drink. You are only allotted to eat at a restaurant 3 times per week you are there. The buffet is ok but it’s a lot of the ame food every day. I did love the tostadas! There is entertainment every night and for the most part it was really good. They have a disco that opens at 1130 which was also fun and it too is on the Tulum resort. The se vice was pretty good everywhere we went.

Beautiful resort but....

So my girlfriends and I stayed at the grand Bahia for a weekend and the location was beautiful ! It was beyond safe, literally no one allowed in or out unless you have the wristband. Security patrols the entries area 24/7. Super safe, loved that aspect! Although the 24 hour snack bar was horrible food but I guess that’s what you get when your drunk at 4am! The room was not clean, ants everywhere, so gross! On top of that, for some reason there was a random flood in the room everyday, we had no idea where the water came from and it took forever for someone to come clean it. The club was super dry, do not recommend. Definitely go to coco bongo or whatever the club off the resort is called. All of the “free” water activities we could not even do because of the high tides so it was annoying. No one would even compensate us for any of this. I had a great time but would def not recommend this resort. Although the buffets at grand Bahia was exceptional but if you miss the times for the buffet your screwed and stuck with the snack bar.

The resort was beautiful. The rooms were perfect. Food choices were great. The activities were not clearly communicated so you had to wonder around to see what was going on. Be prepared to be approached to buy excursion packages whenever you enter the lobby!

EXCELLENT VACATION!!!!

My husband and I decided after only a few hours at his resort that we would be returning next year and sooner if at all possible. Where do I begin? This was a surprise 50th birthday gift for my husband. We had honeymooned at the Be-Live Grand (2011) in Riviera Maya before and loved it but had wished the resort was somewhat larger. After speaking to one of the Cheap Caribbean's beachologists and telling her what I was looking for in a resort as well as price this resort seemed to fit the needs and wants. I ALWAYS travel through Cheap Caribbean and will continue to do so. The ease of booking, the knowledge of the employees and the expert service are all five star in my book. The Amstar rep that brought us to our hotel was great. Good driver and VERY polite. Upon arriving at the hotel Grand Bahia Princepe Coba we were greeted by Candelario....This man had the BEST attitude of anyone I have ever met... My husband commented that he has the sttitude about customer service that everyone should have. Both my husband and I are in customer service as well as owning a business so we know amazing customer service when we get it and we got it from Candelario!!!! He loaded our bags onto the transportation car while we checked in with Barbara. She is a gem! POLITE, VERY INFORMATIVE and QUICK! We honestly felt very welcome. Candelario drove us to our room while speaking to us cheerily the whole time, he never stopped smiling his warm and genuine smile. He carried all of our luggage on his shoulders up three flights of stairs still while smiling. He asked us if our room was to our liking and if we needed anything to please let him know. It was later in the day so we went to the snack bar. UM it wasn't what we expected, which was chips and other snacks, this was salad, seafoood, sandwhiches, chicken, burgers, hot dogs, fries, nachos etc plus a full bar and ice cream. It was amazing. The dinner buffet is a different theme every night, Ice sculptures and beautiful hand carved watermelons. The food is beyond your dreams. Whatever you like they have it. You have an allergy, they have you covered. Just a sampling: Two kinds of soup, shrimp, oysters, sushi, beans, salad, hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken nugget, baked chicken, fajitas, tacos, enchiladas, potatos, beef, pork, pizza, fresh vegetables, chili, breads and so much more! THe desserts were delicious and not heavy at all! So many to try! Trust me we tried them all and they did not dissapoint. Breakfafst and lunch buffets were ust as delicious and same with multiple choices. If you want a pancake or omelete made to order they will do it with a smile. You can get snacks 24/7 and drinks. Your room is stocked daily with soda, water and beer. They had champagne and chocolates in our room waiting when we arrived :). The room was beautiful, king bed, couch area with small table and the balcony was so cute. The bathroom was huge with a rain shower that was so nice. The train transport cars get you whereever you need to go. You wait maybe three minutes at that because each car takes you to a different location but if you can't wait they will make an extra stop for you. The resort is so clean! It is eco-friendly which I loved and the wildlife run free (white nose coati, racoons, iguanas and small serequi). The jungle arund you is lush and dense and filled with the sounds of different birds. There are multiple pools, some with families, one with just adults, one that has daily games all day and still another that is very quiet. You can do nothing or you can do a lot its up to you. Mario from Amstar helped us to find the perfect excursion. My husband and I hadn't ever been on an excursion ( I have traveled with Cheap Caribbean 4 x and this was my first time leaving a resort). He signed us up for a hald day excursion to snorkel in a tropical cove and then in a cave (cenote'). The cove was filled with the most beautiful tropical fish we had ever seen. The guide Alan from Xen-Ha (the driver Alexes was so much fun) was beyond extraordinary at his job. He explained everythng to our group in detail. He made us understand how amazing this would be but also that it's serious to follow the rules to be safe and to protect the enviroment. You could tell that both Alan and Alexes love their jobs and that customer service is serious to them. I can't say enough about them and we will do another excursion with them the next time we are at this resort but we will make it a whole day this time. The eco tour from the resort is one you should do! It starts with a bike ride from the Hacienda in Tulum to the eco trail (the bike is easy it's all flat) then you walk for about an hour. Mario told us all about the different wildlife and the trees. Lots of Mayan information and a look at a mayan home and tools and also explained how they were made. We climbed a tower and could see high above the tree canopy for miles. Mario was friendly, kind and very knowledgable. We also got water and snacks. The pools were not crowded at all and you could always find shade and a chair. The pool bar was great! Endless drinks to choose from and great staff. You can even bring your own insultated cu or purchase own at the gift shop. Pools are very Very Very clean! The nighlty entertainment is a must do! Our favorites were the Michae Jackson show and the Dance show on Friday night! Wow the talent!! Only complaint is that they weren't long enough :). Could have watched these performers for hours. Barbara that makes the dinner reservations was polite and very knowledgable about the restaurants. We LOVED Le Gourmet, Portofino and The Japanese place. We were treated like royalty at each place. Le Gourmet was our favorite, get the filet mignon. Driver Victor was funny and very efficient also!! Shared some of his personal story with us which we enjoyed. He has five daughters and we have one and one son so we could relate to his girl stories. Clear maps to follow everywhere and ALL STAFF is always willing to help. Upon entering each restaurant andt he buffets the door is opened for you and a very nice young woman is always there to greet you warmly. The staff in the restaurants work very hard to please everyone and stay on top of everyone's needs. This isn't an easy task given the size of the resort and the amount of people but they do it and do it well! THe chefs and entire kitchen staffs need to be cheered for, they work very hard and it shows in food and presentation. We were sad to leave yesterday and will be back again, no need to ever go anyplace else as we have fund our paradise. Oh can't forget the dolphin show at the beach! WOW! Well cared for dolphins and trainers that truly care. IF you want to go to paradise either with your family or your spouse then this is the place for you!!! GO!!! You will cry when you leave, I did!
