Great vacation spot!
The beach was swim-able, the pool was nice!
The service was what made the stay exceptional!!!
They are beginning to remodel the resort so I anticipate amazing quality rooms coming!!
Sad thing... no fresh fruit for drinks :( it was allllll sugar syrup. We could drink a whole lot because the sugar made us sick quickly
This was a wonderful resort with the exception of the fact that we had asked for a King bed and were given two full size beds. We asked for them to provide the king size bed but they said they were not available.
The beds were absolutely awful. Poor quality, sagging in the middle with no back support at all. Painful back each morning.
However, the food was outstanding, the pool excellent and the staff were friendly.
The Sunscape Resort was very nice and quite the bargain!
All the staff were very nice and friendly. The food was okay and the bar service was great.
The room we had was okay. Just your average hotel room but clean and roomy. The hotel was a bit shabby inside. Bad paint jobs or needs to be touched up. Other than that, the only thing is trying to get away from the concierges hard sales for presentation.
All in all, a very nice, relaxing time!

Incredible stay
This was a quick girls trip and we had a blast! So the pros of this resort: it’s small your not spending half of your time trying to figure out where everything is, the service is amazing, every staff member we engaged with were friendly and eager to help, even with a language barrier they worked hard to accommodate. The food was good, especially for a resort, there were always familiar options on every menu. It’s only a 15 min ride to and from the airport and downtown. The beach area here is perfect! Not to big not to small. I would recommend upgrading to the sunclub the lounge is a great way to get a snack and a cocktail. Also you get dibs on a section of the beach.
The downside of this resort.
The pool was ok, they pack lounge around it, so if you like laying right next to the pool(which I do) you will have to get to know your neighbors because they will be very close. I would like to see them create a sunclub or adults only section of the pool area. But this was minor and not a huge problem for use, but if you don’t like people, don’t plan on being at the pool. The restaurants were good, I wouldn’t recommend the buffet, but would the others dining options. There isn’t a lot of different place to eat on the resort, but downtown is so safe and cheap I wish we would’ve went there more often.

This resort is an all-inclusive, meaning meals, snacks and drinks are included. This resorts all-inclusive states:
Dwelling in comfy, spacious suites where you can savor sunshiny views from your private patio or balcony, and if you're in a family suite - the kids will love the bunk beds.
Dining at a variety of scrumptious restaurants with kid-friendly menus - and unlimited drinks for you.
Noshing any time your stomach hollers with 24-hour food/drink kiosks - healthy and kid-friendly.
Releasing your kiddos to the Explorer's Club (3-12) so they can burn off some energy with castle competitions, arts & crafts, and more.
Sending your 13-17 year-olds to the Core Zone so they can constructively channel their teen angst.
Family entertainment like nightly movies on the beach, Monday Night Football parties and x-game competitions.
Cutting loose with dozens of land and water activities.
All taxes and gratuities are taken care of, too.
And so much more that won't fit into this bulleted list.

On google maps, the resort is south of Hilton Puerto Vallarta and Krystal Puerto Vallarta and north of Fiesta Americana Puerto Vallarta and Sunset Plaza beach resort and spa. Sunscape Puerto Vallarta is only 10 minutes from Puerto Vallarta International Airport (PVR) and the world famous Malecon in Old Town Vallarta.

There is not mention of entertainment or nightlife, is there any?

The resort does offer nightly entertainment. Please check with the resort directly for the most up to date information regarding entertainment/activities. Their international phone number is: (01152 to dial out) 322-226-1700.
TimCC
Some entertainment, nightlife I would say to go to the boardwalk really close by.
LisaRenee
The reason there is no mention is because it don't exist. You need to go out for nightlife and entertainment. There is a casino 5 mins walk or bars. There is no disco tec at the resort.
hobbnobber
There are a couple of places right across the street, but for the most part if you want variety you must take a cab downtown, next to the beach, there are a lot there, cab sho9uld only be about $4 there $4 back.
Freebird
There is little to no night life other than sitting at the bar
KcGemini
Not at all. They advertise on the daily schedule a trip to a club - it seems like it is run by the resort and free. But they are deceptive, and it is really run through a partnership with a tour group and extremely overpriced. You're better off taking a taxi on your own to Malecon!
aseretx3
No. There is not really any night life or entertainment on the resort after 8 p.m. However, this was not really an issue because downtown is about a 5 minute cab ride and there are tons of bars and clubs there.
lifesabeach15
yes - regular shows, music and entertainment nightly. very good.
DANtheSandMAN
The “entertainment” is locals coming in one to three at a time to sing in a HOTTTTT space on the main floor.
You can go off the resort to their nightclubs.

•Playground
The Core Zone caters to tweens and teens ages 13-17. Daily, noon-8pm
Activities Include:
•Sports and games for teenagers

LizCC
I don't have a schedule but I did witness Kid's Club activities. As far as food allergies, most of the food is buffet style so I would be cautious with some of the meals depending on the particular allergy. There is an option to select from a menu at a couple of the places however.

What exactly does the sunclub upgrade include?5 answers
3 years, 43 months ago
kristi
All "Sun Club" suites offer the following additional amenities and services:
Personalized check-in and checkout with concierge service
Preferential status and amenities
Upgraded mini-bar service (refreshed daily) and bath amenities
Complimentary computer access in the Sun Club Lounge
Daily afternoon hot and cold hor d'oeuvres
Complimentary newspaper in room every day (English or Spanish)
Cartoons available in room
Milk, cookies and other special treats, Room service (7am-11pm)
TimCC
It is supposed to include an upgraded room on the 9th floor, room service 24 hours a day, and in room mini bar being restocked daily, but when we arrived they didn't have a SunClub room available and we're moved to the 6th floor and didn't get any of the services, which they promised we would. It was disappointing.
Amanda7618
1. Upgraded liquor in the Sun Club bar
2. Quicker check in and check out
3. Wi Fi for two devices
4. Upgraded room
5. Room service but it is very limited and only until 11 PM.
6. Small, separated area on the beach
makmomom
The only thing that’s worth the upgrade is the view.
TruthfulTrey
It includes a better room, access to a private lounge with snacks and a bar that has higher quality alcohol. This lounge also has free internet, which was not available anywhere else on the property. You also have access to a private beach area, which is where we spent all of our time. Finally, it includes room service, which is not available even to pay for to non-sunclub members. It was well worth the upgrade for me.
KathrynLena
You get private check in.
Access to a great lounge.
Room Service.
A section of the beach reserved for sunclub members that always had open loungers.
I’m sure there is more but this is what I remember, and it’s defiantly worth it.

Can you do snorkeling from the beach?5 answers
3 years, 42 months ago

Generally this is something you can do, however it is always subject to change. This is something you'd want to check with the resort at the time of check-in. They do have plenty of beaches nearby where you can snorkel, as well.
JeannieCC
No. No snorkeling right there in the resort. But for an extra cost, there were boats pulled up close by that took people further out but not sure if there was any snorkeling.
CAM2016
The water was not that clear at all, good luck.

No, that is what I had hoped. But they ferry you out and you jump off into the ocean.

I am not sure because I didn't see anyone doing it. I am sure you can do it on your own however the water was not clear. It was muddy brown due to the frequency of the rains there.

Sunscape Puerto Vallarta is Unlimted Fun Inclusions! This means 24-hour access to food and beverage options including kid-friendly menu options, In-room mini-bar fully stocked with soft drinks, juice, bottled water & beer, Buffet and à la carte restaurants without reservations required, Bars and lounges serving international and domestic brand beverages, and Unlimited fruit juices, soft drinks and snacks. There is also no limit to snacks or beverages. However, additional costs may apply for top-shelf items.
JeannieCC
There aren't any restrictions, but most of the restaurants and bars close by 7pm and it makes it difficult to get a drink. The food was very low quality. 1 of the restaurants wasn't opened every day. 1 in a cold sandwich shop, 1 is a buffet (I do not recommend), and the Italian place has a dress code and the service was horrible. I would never go back to this resort.
Amanda7618
Not this resort. You can eat and drink as much as you wanted till about 1 or 2 am. The main restaurants were closed ofcourse, but there was a snack bar that had sandwiches, desserts & coffee. The bar in the hotel was open til late. Even though it was all included and paid for, we still tipped. Not much .. Couple bucks here and there.
CAM2016
All the drinks you want and food is available all day, either at the coffee shop, the restaurant or the grill. There are also several dinner choices every evening!

We are planning a wedding and several people coming2 answers
I would like some information on planning a wedding and discounts, we have many people coming we have already booked in feb.10 -17. We also have a 11 year old son coming can he stay free. and could we upgrade the bride and groom to a homeymoon suite for a nite ? thanks for your time.
3 years, 38 months ago
jody
The 11 year old's pricing would vary depending on if the resort has any specials running for your time of travel. As for planning the wedding, that is something you would need to arrange through the resort directly. With upgrading for a night, unfortunately we are unable to upgrade a reservation for only one night, you would need to arrange this through the resort while you are there.
JeannieCC
Would not recommend for someone planning to get married. Just left the resort & met a few married couples and this is definitely not the resort to do it. The hotel did not clear the area for the wedding, children were screaming and running around everywhere by the wedding and the hotel did nothing, & the bride simply wanted to sit on the beach but she had to move because locals wanted it and hotel staff didn’t help.

The spa at Sunscape Puerto Vallarta Resort will be closed for renovations through October 31, 2016. During this closure, guests can enjoy the Secrets Spa by Penovia located at Secrets Vallarta Bay (adults only). The resort is located on beautiful Banderas Bay on a long stretch of golden sand beach. The amount of waves is going to vary day by day depending on currents, etc.
JeannieCC
no construction currently Feb 2016. beach is nice but water was rough, chilly. very few swimmers. didn't miss it with the large pool
SueVictor
There were some construction going on but it wasn't part of the resort and didn't bother the feel at all. I'm not sure if it'll be all over with by December but it really wasn't a big deal at all. The beach is right off the resort and the amazing view you get from the room and balcony. Beach is more rocky since it's the pacific side and no seashells. There were some waves but nothing overpowering.
Cmitchell
I stayed in July 2017. I did not see construction at all.

Round trip airport shuttle service can be added, but is additional cost.
CCGreg
Car service is not included! Although, there are many taxis when you arrive that will take you to your destination for about $30. Cheap caribbean charges $200 for airport car service. The people are very friendly over there so you have nothing to worry about.
GGuilli
It was mentioned at the end of the package to add car service, but it is not automatically included.
war8679
It is a separate fee but the cost of a taxi in Puerto Vallarta is extremely cheap. Generally between 3-7 dollars plus a small tip.
rboat
The taxis were super cheap there. We paid $10 including tip to get to Sunscape from the airport. But you can book through Amstar to get a ride ahead of time. They're really great and have a representative at the hotel who will help you schedule a ride back to the airport as well.

I wouldn't recommend Sunscape overall, but if you go I would say get the Junior Suite with the ocean view. That's what we ended up in, and our room (unfortunately) was the highlight of our trip at Sunscape. We ended up making the most of everything, but we really regret not spending a little more money for a nicer hotel.

Get an ODD number room as high up as you can get then you will have a view of Puerto Vallarta at night the lights are beautiful, you might even see some fireworks from your balcony.

340 guestrooms and suites offer all the comforts you expect from Sunscape, including a private furnished balcony with views of the bay or the gardens, a mini-bar, AC, flat screen TV, hair dryer, coffee maker, housekeeping, iron/ironing board, in-room safe and Wi-Fi.
Family-friendly check-in Hollywood style - red carpet stairs and yummy welcome treats.
Resort passports that send the kids on their own adventure.
With the Sierra Madres & Banderas Bay as the resort's backdrop, your selfies are going to break the Internet (hey, they might!)
Spa luxuries like a Chocolate Body Wrap or a blowout that will make your hair shine.
Golden sandy beaches where you can kayak, windsurf or kick back while the kids make sand castles.
The kids will love the waterslide at the pool!
The Marina Vallarta Golf Club is within walking distance to the resort. Hopefully you won't be yelling "Fore!" too much!
What We'd Change
Booking a Sun Club room would have given us a few more perks that we would've liked, especially room service at night. The kids were completely worn out from all the fun in the sun, and ordering in would have been a treat! Luckily, the restaurant let us take food to-go!
Why You Should Go
You'll have a drink in your hand in no time since it's only 10 minutes from the airport.
El Malecon is nearby with shops, restaurants/bars, art, & clowns performing tricks. (not the scary kind).
Surfs up at the Punta Mita surfing school where the whole family can take on the waves.
You can rent a boat and check out the famous Love Island at the Marietas.
Historical San Sebastian is a short drive away.
Swimming with the dolphins is a must and in the right season, the whale watching will blow your mind.
