With the charm and warmth that have made this destination unique, Fiesta Americana Puerto Vallarta is, without a doubt, one of the most attractive hotels in Banderas Bay, the second largest bay in the Pacific. With contemporary Mexican architecture, this beautiful construction is perfectly harmonized with a landscape bordered by the mountains of the Sierra Madre Occidental and the most beautiful beach in Vallarta.
The resort is located 15 minutes from the airport, right on the beach, and close to town. Easy access to taxi and bus. Check in was easy, they started a little timeshare pitch, but my tired 3yo had a very well timed, "mama, can we swim yet?" and the sales pitch ended, and they never asked again, but let us know how to contact them if we were interested. Great. Our room was a "family room" on the first floor, with a big patio, two full beds and a pullout sofa. Clean and exactly what we would expect. pretty view of the pool and ocean. But really, we didn't come here to spend time in the room. Pool was great, warm and easily accessible. Lots of different water depths made it nice for hanging out with kids of different swimming abilities. Cocktail servers did a great job, always making rounds and keeping drinks filled. Kid friendly food from the grill, and yummy ceviche and fish tacos delivered poolside from The Cevicheria restaurant. The beach is beautiful, water warm, and waves were not too big to scare the kids. My 3 & 6 yo's swam in the ocean for the first time and loved it.
The Italian restaurant was bleh. But I don't expect too much of an Italian restaurant in Mexico. Mexican was good, and we didn't get to the Asian restaurant because of kids. Buffet breakfasts and dinner were good, and I'm a bit of a food snob. This was a perfect getaway with kids, to relax and play. Casual, comfortable and fun. Would absolutely return for another family vacation. My 3yo wept as we left. "I don't want to go home...I want to stay here forever!"

We loved this place! The staff was very quick to help with any request and we felt that they genuinely cared about our stay without even a mention of becoming Time Shareholders. The pool was a tad small without a hot tub, which would have been nice, but again maintained so well and we watched 3 different mornings where someone was up early cleaning the tiles along side the pool. For a family trip it would have been nice to have more food options or buffet for more than just breakfast. AND our only complaint, though small, is that men can't wear a tank top at all even during breakfast. Which is fine I guess, but we sat across many women in their bathing suits and cover-ups and saw much more of these ladies than I would have liked to see.
Again, overall it was a great place to take our family and we would go back again.
My wife and I just returned from Puerto Vallarta and this is the second time we have stayed at the Fiesta Americana. While this is a smaller resort, the staff and the service are outstanding. The ground are well maintained and the beach is awesome. They have limited dinner options, but have started having dinner themes (Mexican Fiesta, Italian, etc.) out near the pool, which was nice. Night life is pretty limited as they only have one bar open at night. Overall, it is a great resort with outstanding staff members who do everything in their power to make your stay a memorable experience.
The lobby is under a giant palapa that'll have you feeling like you're in an oasis from the minute you step on the property.
The hotel is located in the center of the hotel strip making downtown very easily accessible.
What We'd Change
The junior suites here offer large balconies but are on lower floors so don't offer much privacy from balconies of higher floors.
Why You Should Go
Puerto Vallarta offers the best in Mexican hospitality - cobblestone streets and the jungle that reaches right down to the sea.
Depending on the time of year, you may catch the sea turtles laying their eggs or hatching!
