Amazing!

Overall, we loved the resort. The room was great, even though we had a garden view, we had a nice view of the beach. It was quiet enough, we were never disturbed, even the room service (which was included) offers a "secret door", where your order is placed and they just ring the bell, you can retrieve it at your leisure without even answering the door! We had a large Jacuzzi tub, but never had time to use it. The restaurants took some getting used to. The food was, unusual, to say the least. There are four restaurants: Italian, Japanese (need a reservation for hibachi table), Mexican and Seafood. No dinner buffet. Two nights they offered an outdoor dining experience with a theme: tropical and Argentinian that included live music. There is a lunch restaurant as well as the buffet, which also offers breakfast. Plenty to eat at both buffets. During the day, you can grab a quick bite at the poolside grill: nachos, burgers, quesadillas. The bars were great and we never waited for a drink either at a bar or poolside. The pools are amazing and there is no need to get up early to save a lounge chair, there are plenty available. For beach lovers: there is no swimmable beach, due to the rip current.. It is very walkable, however. Downside: The upsell for the vacation club is everywhere. We did listen, just to get the $400 spa credit, but it does take longer than the 90 minutes promised. There is no way to leave the resort, except via taxi, which are terrible expensive. You can book excursions at the desk, most offer transportation that is included in the price, The spa is way overpriced. There is no way we would have patronized them if it had not been for the $400 credit we got. It is very nice, but not worth the money. Tipping: Yes, some of the employees expect a tip. There are many pros and cons about tipping at an all-inclusive. We prefer not to and had superb service anyway. On our last day,. we did give some cash to our favorite servers and it was much appreciated. Out biggest disappointment was in the Seafood Restaurant. We went early one afternoon to inquire about reserving a special table that we liked and we were told that we could reserve it if we purchased a bottle of wine. No problem. Gave the server our name and asked for 7 pm. When we arrived at 6:45, nobody knew anything about it. Begrudgingly we sat at another table. Shortly after we were seated, another couple came in and asked to sit at the table we wanted, they were told no but the woman would not take no for an answer and simply sat at the table. Nobody asked them to move. We just sat there stunned, the maître d offered no explanation, I flat out called him a liar, and he ruined our evening. About halfway through our week, a large group arrived, Leslie's Pools. After that, the whole atmosphere changed. It was like being at someone else's party. The DJ played music to appease them and suddenly there were drunks everywhere. No more peace and quiet. Even at an all-inclusive, I truly believe that people that order 15 or 20 shots of tequila at once should be discouraged. That being said, we still had a good time. Would we go back again? Probably not, but we rarely go back to the same place more than once. There are too many places we want to see!

Cheap Caribbean the WORST !

Never ever again will I use Cheap Caribbean to book my trip. They messed up my flight. Booked and PAID for a non stop and at the last minute it was changed to a 1 stop. Wrong plane info and name of airline for departure. Nothing they would do about it. When I arrived at the Hotel the room I specifically requested and PAID for was unavailable to me. Had to spend $300 MORE to upgrade just to get 2 double beds. Hotel was only at 45% occupancy. Sales pitch pressure was intense at the Hotel Quiet pool now only for Preferred guests (extra $$$) 2 restaurants CLOSED nightly- not explained at check-in No more mimosa/bloody Mary bar in the dining room in the morning Time to try another resort . I have visited Secrets Puerto Los Cabos 5 times now things are changing from what they used to be. In my opinion the resort has gone from a 5 star to a 3 star it is just average now. Hotel staff is EXCEPTIONAL though. very, very nice.

Another great secrets resort!

This was the third AM brand resort I've stayed with and it's the only brand I'll book because I've had great experiences at all three. The staff wait on you hand and foot and all guest facing personnel speak English very well. This is NOT a party resort, there is not a ton of nightlife on the actual resort, and things get quiet pretty early, around 10pm or so. It's about 20 minutes to downtown Cabo San Lucas if you want to go party. In my opinion it is very safe to get around and the resort will help you get a taxi if you want to go downtown and bar hop, shop or go eat. If you're a couple and just want to relax at the resort, it's perfect. The spa is top notch. I was here with my sister and we had a great time getting to know other guests. It's about a 20 minute walk to the closest swimming beach. This is the Pacific. The undertow is very strong. If you want to swim, book snorkelling excursions. You can do this easily at the hotel. The water is warm and tropical fish everywhere. Portofino, the Italian restaurant on the resort, was our favorite. We drank recommended Mexican wine and it was good. The market buffet (breakfast, lunch) had the usual items, to me it lacked Mexican options (no chorizo, for example). Drinking - they have top shelf liquors available. Order michiladas if you like red beer. The swim up bar does not serve mixed shots. So be ready to shoot liquor if you want shots. Tequila is flowing and the frozen drinks are very good. Tip the bar staff and they will make sure you don't go without a drink for long.

Don’t be fooled

First time in Mexico and I book this resort for our honeymoon because it is a supposed 5/5 stars and recommended by a couple people. We get there and are immediately disappointed. First of all, why would cheap Caribbean have a morning flight to come to this resort when check in is at 3 Pm?! The most disappointing thing to do is get to your resort and wait with your luggage’s until your room is ready. Anyway, bar is good, better than any of the restaurants. I’m vegetarian and my husband is not. There were not many options for me, to say the least. The cheese at this resort tastes disgusting and not cheese like, breads and cookies were never fresh, flies all over food, milk was always warm for cereal, cups always had crumbs or whatever in them, napkins always stained, and basically just a mess overall. We paid for an all inclusive resort only to find ourselves taking a taxi almost every day to the city to eat real, authentic, GOOD food. The room was a mess. There were ants everywhere even though we never opened the balcony or left food inside, even a lizaed inside our bathroom one day (which when we called front desk the lady literally laughed at us), and other bugs visiting our room. I felt so disgusted wiping my face with the the towels since I found stains on so many of them. The shower had mold in the corners which was absolutely disgusting, and the toothbrush holder. My husband and I couldn’t wait to go home and that’s not what a honeymoon should’ve been like for us. We were very disappointed.

What's to Love

With Sammy Hagar's slammin' joint near, this adults-only retreat is where you can actually burrow in and enjoy the stillness.

The majestic exterior and minimalist interior populated with sleek, modern furniture and bright, poppy accents. (Pictures don't do it justice).

Ample suites with private terrace/balcony that boast drop dead gorgeous views.

The beds will make you sleep like a baby and there's a pillow menu.

The poolside concierge. Oh yeah. You'll be living large.

Treatments like the De-Stressing Swedish Massage and Sculpting Green Coffee Wrap. Stress-smashing stuff.

Secrets box for private room service delivery - you don't ever have to see a human if you don't want to.

World-class 18-hole golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus is nearby. (You golfers are drooling. Fess up).

Himitsu, the Pan-Asian restaurant that has three teppanyaki tables. Insanely good.

What We'd Change

With so many options, it's hard to figure out what to do, or decide what restaurant to eat at. However, if you like to have options, Secrets Puerto Los Cabos will strike your fancy in more ways than one!

Why You Should Go

It's just 30 minutes from the airport - party time, Cabo style, is a heartbeat away.

Currency exchange is available. (Woot!)

It's 10 minutes from San Jose del Cabo, a town with fun restaurants, quaint boutiques and enchanting architecture.

Check out the deep-sea fishing and/or enjoy water sports at The Marina at Puerto Los Cabos.

You can go scuba diving or take a bike tour.

You can watch movies under the stars on the beach. You'll never get bored.

The swimmable beach is just five minutes away. This is key: the undertow elsewhere is wicked.

Wear flip flops - the sand can get hot.

Upgrade to the Preferred Club, get better rooms, afternoon hot and cold hors d'oeuvres and more.

The Baja ATV ride and El Arco glass bottom boat ride will blow your mind.

They accommodate special diets - vegetarians, gluten-free, etc. They've got your back.

Just dial "0" and you can get a golf cart ride anywhere - it's like your own personal chauffeur.
