So So..

Was there at Riu for 3 days, the resort is nice but the food and drinks suck. Spent some time on my last trip in Cabo at the Riu Palace resort across the st. Was told that we have access to that resort but they would not allow us to go there. The drinks and good is way better at the Palace resort, worth the extra $100 or so. Service at the Riu Santa Fe was terrible, i wouldnt go back again

My home away from home

I have been a guest at Santa Fe 22 times in the 10 years they have been in operation. I have many friends working there and I am treated as a family member by them. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about this resort I will be returning again soon.

if you hang around to long they put you to work amigos

Waste of money

We decided to book Riu Santa Fe knowing it had mediocre reviews and did not have our expectations high at all. However this resort was able to validate the "meh" reviews. We went on holiday as a group of 6, all of us booked together with the same room preferences, everyone's rooms faced the pool, however our room ended up facing construction...which started at 7am Cabo time (yes we could hear banging/hammering from our room) which did not even have a stocked refrigerator when we arrived. We asked to change rooms only to be told by the indifferent front desk employee that a different room in the same building would not be available until day 4 of our 7 day trip. When we finally got our room changed, it required us to pack all of our belongings by check out (11am) and NOT have a room until 3pm. Luckily we kept our things in our friends' room - had we traveled alone, that would've required us to wheel all of our bags to the front desk just to have them placed in the center of the reception lobby - no thanks. Our new room was supposed to be facing the pool, NOT, it actually was on level 2 of building 2, facing another building (no pool view), and closer to the actual construction. This room also smelled of mildew and we were afraid to use the top cover. It was dark and damp so much that our wet bathing suits would not completely dry even out on the balcony. While we spent more time enjoying Cabo and not in the actual room, we decided to not even bother trying to get another room assignment since we were better off in our initial room. The rest of the resort (food and booze) were terrible. Not sure what alcohol they were even putting in our margaritas, less than rail/bottom shelf quality taste. They definitely try to stretch their food out as much as possible as most of it was bland and tasteless and I noticed some of it being reused in the buffet the next day. Also they claim "24 hour all inclusive" but this only means the sports bar remains open with a refrigerator stocked of already prepared, not so appetizing, hamburgers/hot dogs and fruit. We asked for water in our room at about 8pm and were told they were closed for the night and to try again in the morning - ridiculous. The only feature about this resort that I enjoyed were the pools/views. Other than that I will NOT ever be returning to Riu Santa Fe and may have to take Riu completely off of my holiday list.

So much for a View of only construction from our balcony

Best bang for your buck

Wonderful wonderful staff! Prompt and courteous. Very clean. Sufficient dining options and events. No elevators in most buildings however (I was on the top floor). But hey, I can always use the exercise...

Dipping into the Jacuzzi for bubbly relaxation. (Plus always a fun mingling spot.)

What We'd Change

You can't swim in the ocean, but the views from the pools, the sunsets and sunrises and walks a long the beach are stunning.

Why You Should Go

It's close to the heart of Cabo San Lucas' shopping, nosh & drinking spots and the marina.

Whale watching here is epic. Best time to see these awe-inspiring creatures - mid-Dec thru mid-April.

Cabo's famous "El Arco" is in the backdrop. Grab your camera and snap, snap away.

You can dance your heart out at Pacha nightclub. Put on your disco shoes and get to it.

Invigorating crowds keep the party going at the pool, around the resort and at night.
