My time at Krystal Grand in January

The pools were beautiful, we had wished they were a bit more heated than they were but it was probably perfect reguardless because of how hot it was outside. The hot tubs were more like warm tubs. But again if it was hot it probably wouldn’t have meshed well with the heat. Unfortunately all of the hot tubs and pools were completely closed down at 8pm. This left us with not so much to do besides the lobby bar or the sports bar. There was a couple of nights where the hotel put on a excellent outdoor buffet, one on the beach, one in the gardens. Those dinners were both excellent. We met people at the hotel that was as interested in going downtown as we were. so we decided to take the bus Which was a 30 min Mexican experience. I would definitely recommend visiting downtown Cabo if the opportunity presents itself. Busses end at 11pm and it’s $2.50 to get one person down there. The Taxis are a huge rip off $40 avg to get you down town Cabo. We bussed down there 3 times and used UBER to get back. UBER was around $16 at 2am.

Better than expected...

I booked this vacation last minute and was a bit worried after reading some of the reviews. This place is great and I highly recommend it (I am pretty picky). The resort is extremely clean and the service is great. The staff are very friendly and the room was clean and comfortable. We had a few minor issues, but they were fixed right away. I knew to bring earplugs from reading others reviews and I’m glad I did... the outside traffic noise is loud, but was not a problem with earplugs. The weather was perfect and I did not want to leave.

would recommend....read if you are on the fence

I don’t normally submit reviews, but felt compelled to share details about our stay as we read a lot of reviews in making our decision. We traveled to the Reflect Krystal Grand the first week in January. One of the reasons we choose this resort was it said it was close- 20 minutes from the airport. We landed at 11:00 and were at the hotel and checked in, changed and down by the pool by 12:30. That was awesome as we didn’t want to spend a lot of time in transit to and from the airport. The temperature hoovered around 78-82 and 60’s at night. We had several cloudy days, but the last two days were sunny and beautiful. Very warm when sitting in direct sun, but not uncomfortably hot. Even the cloudy days we spent the day at the pool and beach and still warm enough to lay out. Some said the pools were cold, but they were warm while we were there! The adult pool a little cooler than the others. The evenings were very cool, especially because it was windy when we were there. Definitely check the forecast and bring jackets or sweaters, the husbands were even cold! The resort itself is extremely clean. There was constantly staff cleaning, sweeping, landscaping, etc. The staff is very friendly and attentive. We made the mistake of not bringing enough dollar bills for tips. We tipped often when we first arrived and ran out of small bills quickly. They won’t exchange big american bills or pesos for smaller bills, so make sure you plan ahead. There are ATMs on the property for both US and Mexican currency, but again, we found they won’t exchange for small bills. The staff is very attentive and worth the tips! We took the city bus to the marina in downtown Cabo San Lucas. $10 American dollars for 4 of us. The taxi was $40 back. Very clean and safe. Worth the trip the marina for shopping and restaurants. We had considered staying at resorts located there. It was beautiful and we would have loved it….and spent a lot more money leaving the resort to hit up restaurants and bars there! And they are about 30-40 mins from the airport. But again, beautiful area and you can swim the ocean there. Not a big deal to my group, but maybe to you. Our meals at all of the restaurants were good. I highly recommend the Japanese restaurant. SO fun! The buffet changed slightly each day. The other restaurants alternate what nights they are open, so plan your stay around which ones you want to go to. Sign up at 3:00 for the Japanese restaurant and line up a few minutes before then! One complaint- or maybe just to be aware of- we ate at the Grill one of the nights. The “special” was lobster and steak. Of course that sounded great, so 3 of us ordered it. After the order was placed and drinks arrived our waiter came back and told us that the “lobster was very fresh and as a result there would be small charge to our room for it”. We agreed (in hindsight we should have asked how much but didn’t). After dinner, which took a while and the husbands were annoyed with the long wait and cold temps from the windy night and open air space, the waiter came back to charge our credit card-not the room for the meal. It was over $60 a piece! I don’t often eat $60 dinners at home so that did seem a little extravagant since it is supposed to be all inclusive! Dinner was great, but the whole process seemed a little “shady”. Most other tables didn’t have their credit card on them- again supposed to be all inclusive so they had to go back to there room to get it. That was a real turn off. It wasn’t so much about spending the money- of course you are going to do that on vacation- it was the method in which it was done made you feel dupped and overall left us with a really bad feeling over the whole thing. Other than that, our stay was perfect. We didn’t do any excursions, because we didn’t want to on this trip. But heard the whale watching and glass bottom boats were awesome. We could see whales from the beach and sea loins when we visited the marina. Would definitely recommend and FYI, The rooms and resort look just like the pictures!
