Tucked between the sugar-white sand of San Jose del Cabo and the Sierra de San Lazaro Mountains, this beachfront hideaway has it all: a heart-pumping activities section with a big pool, a family section with a playground and pool, and of course (and thankfully), an adults-only sanctuary where you can relish your much-deserved (and needed) cocktail. Speaking of needed, there's a spa where you can continue your chillax-a-thon. If you're up for tennis and excursions like horseback riding, you're in luck. This Baja beauty is the bomb.

Great value
The resort, although dated, was clean & comfortable. The buffet provided average food & the a la carte restaurant was just okay. The cafe snack area was excellent with tableside service & made to order snacks/meals. Beach surroundings & pools were optimally maintained. Spa services good. The only suggestion is to avoid yellow taxi service if possible-overpriced & aggressive. DO NOT order Uber near any yellow taxis-they aggressively attack the driver & car and then harass travellers into using their service. We pre arranged a tour company(TransCabo) to/from airport & would recommend them for safety & reliability-remaining inside the hotel pick up area of course , not going out of the gate near yellow taxis. It is perfectly safe walking to/from downtown areas in San Jose del Cabo but for transportation elsewhere I would follow these guidelines.
Second time to this resort. It is in a great location. Some meals at the buffet were better than others. Lunch was good at the restaurant. The adult pool and bar were our favorites again. Alma the bartender is amazing and very accommodating.
The food buffets were the same everyday, food was often cold, not warm like it should have been. Rooms were outdated looking, beds are uncomfortable. Bathroom had no washcloths ever stocked in it, sewer smell coming up from shower and floor drain in bathroom.
This resort had good friendly staff, but was undercut by its food. The food was overcooked, and did not have a large vriity of eating options. My wife uses a walker and the layout of the resort had many level changes and lots of steep ramps.
My wife cought 2 marlins in 1 3 hour fishing trip.

Just average small waves....

Toronto
Although this resort is on the beach it is not swimmable.
KellyCC
You're actually not supposed to go into the ocean because of the strong undertow, but some people were doing it anyway (further down the beach). The waves are small though, so don't expect to do any surfing.

Yes there was but not allowed in the water during winter because of strong rip tide

MariaCC
You can purchase roundtrip airport transportation (through Olympus Tours) when you check out.
CaboTraveler
No, you have to pay extra $32 round trip for a local transportation company.

When we have a package posted on our site, the dates listed are for the minimum nights required for the discounted rate.
KellyCC
I paid 4 nights but I missed my flight , at the airport I called the cheapcaribean.com that I cut short to 3 nights and when I was in Los Cabos the Holiday Resort 's receptionist said they can not refund the night that I lost. So I paid same price of 4 nights for 3 nights.

do i have access to any were on the resort such as all three pools? which Restaurants do i need reservations for and are they hard to make? and because it is all inclusive can i eat at the resturants as many times as i want or am i limited to three meals a day ?
6 years, 74 months ago
ar
Yes, you have access to all three pools. Don't miss the adults only pool with the swim up bar! You will need to make dinner reservations upon arrival. You are not limited to visiting the restaurants but you may only one reservation per night.
KellyCC
You do have access to all pools, and the resort is ridiculously easy to
maneuver. Everything is spread out within sight and pathways lead you to wherever you want to go, plus the beach is right in front of the resort, which is entirely situated along the beach.
The restaurants all require reservations for a la carte dining, which you
make in the morning for that evening. There is always a large themed
buffet (Asian, Spanish, Italian, etc.) which does not require reservations
When the restaurants are closed between meals, there are several snack bars that serve tacos, burgers or salads.
Leesburger
Yes must reserve 1 restaurant but the other one is open.
Naki
There is unlimited access to all of the pools. You need reservations for the ala carte restaurants for dinner. They are made daily at 10 am. There are three main meals but food is available most of the day until about 10 pm
RiversideTraveler
All of the pools are open and one is only for adults although we spent our entire time at the one with children and it was never an issue. You cannot swim in the ocean here or anywhere within a thirty minute drive because of the currents. The main breakfast and lunch buffet is in the Napa restaurant opening at 7am and closing like at 10 and then reopening for lunch for what seemed all afternoon. There is a main outdoor buffet dining area in the center of the complex starting at 6pm. The other restaurants open sporadically through the week with reservations taken at 945am at Napa. (be advised there is a charge for steak or shrimp, etc)
JimF
Yes you had access to all the pools. Need to make reservations for the ala carte restaurants each day at 10 am. Front desk will let you know where the line is. We actually walked past around 11 one day and line was gone and was able to make a reservation for 6 pm at the Steak House. Different restaurants are open each night. Napa and Steak House were great. Didn't eat at the Mexican. No limit to how many nights you eat in them. You can eat all day as many times as you want except for the ala carte since you must make a reservation. But you can come and go from the buffet. During the day you can eat at the pool BBQ as many times as you want or the taco bar. Might also have a buffet during this time but now sure as we just ate by the main pool everyday. Hope this helped.

Holiday Inn Resort Los Cabos is located on beautiful beachfront property, overlooking the emerald Sea of Cortez and next to the Estuary, a wild-bird sanctuary. While the beach is great for basking, it is non-swimmable. Try to get here between June and November for the chance help baby turtles swim out to sea!

You have to walk about a mile from the Resort. The bus stop is on a main street. You can then catch the bus to Cabo San Lucas for $3 U.S.D.

Yes. this hotel is All-Inclusive.
Features include:
Room accommodations
Unlimited food and drink, excluding premium brand liquors
Five specialty restaurants with a la carte service
Wireless internet access
Taxes and gratuities
JeannieCC
The resort is an all-inclusive resort, meaning snacks/meal and drinks are included. If you have any further questions or need help booking, please call and speak to one of our Beachologists at 1-800-915-2322.
TimCC
The resort is all inclusive. That includes all food and drinks (alcohol included). The only things that would cost extra are premium foods, spa services, excursions, and such. There is a bar open somewhere at the resort up until 11 pm. They'll give you a to-go glass if you want to wander with your beverage. You'll get a wristband so you can partake of the facilities and restaurant for no charge. The buffet has a different theme each day so you'll have plenty of choices.

Does the hotel have a club or disco with band or DJ whereby my wife and I can do some dancing? If so, what type music do they play?4 answers
2 years, 34 months ago
Fort Worth, Texas
They have a cantina bar open until midnight with live music. But they do not have a club or disco. If you have any further questions, you may contact the resort directly or call and speak to one of our Beachologists at 1-800-915-2322.
TimCC
Not necessarily, there is a bar that is open until midnight but there is not much dancing happening there. Some nights they play casino games and bingo in it.
QueenOfTheBeachNaps
No, every bar around the pool closes at 10:00pm & the one sports bar they have closes at 11:00pm. It would cost you $40.00 USD each way for a cab to Cabo San Lucas from the resort.
Beachy75024
No. This is not a party hotel. This is a hotel where you wake up, eat, hang out by the pool, nap, eat, hang out by the pool, eat and go to sleep type of hotel. Not for party people...good for people that just want to relax.

Please check with the resort for more up to date information. If you have any further questions, you may contact the resort directly or call and speak to one of our Beachologists at 1-800-915-2322.
TimCC
I don't know about the buses but the hotel has taxis available for you at a very low price. If you ask at front desk they call a taxi for you and it takes less than five mins to wait. The taxis they offer are great and friendly. You can also rent a car through them for $50 for the whole day but a lot of the activities they offer through cheap carribean come with transportation included
Lrpdx91
There is no public transportation to Cabo San Lucas from the resort which is where the swimable beach is located. It is a $40.00 USD cab ride each way
Beachy75024
The ocean is really rough and not recommended anywhere along Cabo for swimming. You can pay a water taxi and go swim off Divorce beach if you really want to swim in the ocean.

We have 2 adults and 3 kids how can I add the 3rd kid

Unfortunately you would not be able to have a third child in one room. The max occupancy for all rooms is as follows. The only way to add all 5 of you would be to do so in 2 rooms.
Max occupancy: 4
Max adults: 3 (w/ no children)
Max adults: 2 (w/ up to 2 children)
Maximum occupancy: 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.

Occupancy2 answers
Traveling with 3 adults and a one year old. But room occupancy states max 4 but also max occupancy 3 adults only. It's confusing and misleading. Would we have to reserve two rooms just because we have a one year old with us?
2 years, 29 months ago
Nat
Occupancy requirements state this:
Max occupancy: 4
Max adults: 3 (w/ no children)
Max adults: 2 (w/ up to 2 children)
Maximum occupancy: 3 adults or 2 adults and 2 children.
What this means is that the room can have 4 people if it's 2 adults and 2 children only, if there are 3 adults, that is the maximum number of people allowed. Unfortunately this does mean you would need to book 2 rooms.
JeannieCC
Should be fine in the room with 2 full size beds. There is a little couch in the room that pulls out into a bed I think. Just dont tell them about the baby. They don't care about anything once you are there.

Does the Holiday Inn Resort offer transportation to and from the airport?5 answers
1 year, 24 months ago
Dallas, TX
This is not something that is included, however you can add this on for an additional cost either at the time of booking or up until 48 hours prior to travel on an existing reservation. However, this is not offered by the resort directly, we off our transportation through a reputable transportation and excursion service company.
JeannieCC
you have to pay an extra $35 for transportation
Kaylaaa
No, they do not. You have to find a taxi van/shuttle at the airport to drop you off, and when you leave the resort the front desk concierge will call a taxi van to pick you up. No free shuttle service, unfortunately.
Travels92
No. Transportation is your responsibility. The shared ride option offered on this site is a decent value depending on the size of your group.
Ringhidb
they can refer you to someone but they don't have free shuttles that transport you back and forth. I booked this when I booked the trip and had no problems.

How much money would be a good idea to exchange into pesos?3 answers
My husband and I are going here for one week during spring break 2017. We are 26 and 31 years old. How much money would be a good idea to exchange into pesos so we would at least be relatively set for the week? I know it's all inclusive, but how much are bars in the area and other clubs, things like that? I can search online for the cost of tourist-y things to do (like whale watching, tours, etc), but we don't know how much to bring for other extracurriculars or having to stop at a store or whatnot. Any recommmendation or idea would help. Thank you!
1 year, 23 months ago
Amber
US currency is widely accepted here. I wouldn't exchange for pesos right away unless you are going far off the resort. My recommendation would be to make sure you have smaller bills (1's, 5's, 10's, 20's) so that if you purchase something you receive less back in the local currency.
CCGreg
Amber: I would suggest that you convert $200.00 USD into pesos in the US....take lots of $20 peso bills ( they are worth one dollar US ) . I would also take about $300 USD in cash for incidentals, side trips, etc. My wife and I just returned from one week in Cabo....this is what we took and it worked out just about perfectly for us. There are lots of ATM machines if you need more cash.
Beeper
Me and my husband just went and I would say exchange about $300 in pesos or at least $200 or you could even take that in American bills but I’d make sure they are small bills. We did eat at the resort but went to a few restaurants and went souvenir shopping. Most places take American but just having small bills helped tremendously.

Yes you can be on the sand.
CCGreg
The hotel is right on the beach. Not good for swimming, but great for walking, and watching sun rises and sun sets.
Mygoatnutmeg
Yes you can get on the beach, walk along the beach. They also have a few cabanas on the sand so you can lie and relax on the beach.
Posh007
Absolutely! The hotel is beach front and all you have to do is walk to it. We have stayed in Alabama and Florida situations like this as well. You just have to walk through the sand between hotel and beach. It is a bit of a hike due to type of sand,(not as easy as the sugar sand of the gulf in Florida) and when you get there, it is all beach and Sea of Cortez, with no umbrella...nor any other type of shelter or facilities, so take all that you need with you! And as you know you can't swim there, but you can marvel at the pounding waves. Very strong waves and rip tide. Beautiful sunrise pics. You can get up early and watch fishermen and surfers if you walk to the East. Lots and lots of beach and sand....not many people at all...the main thing is to remember your protection from the sun and have fluids with you as it is a hike back to the hotel! :)
EiKuhl
Absolutely. There is a LOT of beach (around 200 yards) until you hit water, but it is 100% acessable from resort property. It’s “pretty” beach, too
