Awesome Vacation Spot!
Dreams is one of the best resorts I have stayed at. The rooms were very spacious and clean. The staff was very professional and polite. The resort had a large variety of food selections and all of the food was deliscous. The resort has its own beach with many activities, such as snorkeling, kayaking, paddle boarding, and volleyball. We can’t wait to go back.

I had a great time but I probably wouldn’t go back
Room:
Comfortable and nicely furnished. Air conditioner worked better than any other resort I’ve stayed at. Ever. I like to go back to a cool room so the fact that the maids turned off my a/c during room servicing and turndown servicing was mildly annoying but like I said, the a/c works good so it cooled down again fairly quickly. Secret box for room service is an awesome touch when you just don’t feel like interacting with anyone. Spa tub was wonderful as was the rain shower which open to the main part of the suite. The toilet is behind a glass door so if you are staying with someone I hope you don’t mind a lack of privacy. Poor design in that regard. It was overall very satisfactory.
Dining:
I can’t speak highly enough of the dining selections. Everything tasted great to include room service. Portion sizes can be pretty small depending on the restaurant so order more food than you would normally.
Entertainment:
It was very good. A diverse selection. The Entertainment team worked hard to ensure the guests had a good time. Sandra and Jorge stood out above the crowd but all were very good.
Water:
The pool was great. The Beach had dangerous swim condition the entire trip so that can’t accurately review it but hey, there was a hurricane off the coast the whole time so there’s that. The Beach had good shell hunting.
The bad:
Mosquitos. As soon as the sun starts setting you will literally be eaten alive. I don’t know what thier pest control program consists of but that was the one thing that drove me nuts. I left with more mosquito bites than I can count despite using bug spray.
Why wouldn’t I return? It has nothing to do with the hotel. The logistics of getting there were a nightmare both times I went. If you are well traveled and don’t mind a place that’s hard to get to off of the beaten path, give Huatulco a chance.

Overall Good Resort
The booking was easy, the flights were smooth and the transportation to and from the hotel was seamless. The room was nice with nice touches like rose petals and turn down service. The hotel was very nice and the staff was very polite as well. The hotel had multiple huge pools and the beach is great as well. We attended a few activities at the hotel, which were fun and well run. We also booked a boat excursion that was fun and well run. I also have three notable areas of improvement. First, they have a good variety of restaurants but they close a few each day and some are only for preferred guests and there is not an easy way to tell what days which restaurants will be closed. A schedule of the restaurants at check in would have been helpful to plan. Second, they try and sell you a vacation package multiple times. I paid a couple thousand dollars for this vacation and I really don't appreciate the extremely aggressive sales people taking over 2 hours of my time trying to get me to buy into a long term vacation plan. Lastly, on our last day we left the do not disturb sign on and ran a few errands knowing that we’d be back in a bit to finish packing and check out. During that time, our ipad went missing. We tore the room apart looking for it. We reported it to the hotel at checkout but had to leave for the airport. They found it within 15 minutes but told us that it was in our safe, which we checked at least 3 times. The story they gave us was not possible. Then they said they would put it in a cab to the airport but that they were not responsible for it and we’d have to pay the cab driver. We got the ipad back but we would have appreciated honesty and the hotel footing the bill to return it to us.

What is the snorkling and scuba diving like from the beach
7 years, 86 months ago
mark
The beach gently slopes into the water and is perfect for snorkeling. Many resorts do allow guests to scuba directly from the beach, however it is up to their discretion, and there is an additional cost.
ccsusan1
No Scuba but a nice little reef on the East side of the resort beach.
TonyGRD
Snorkeling is close from the bay. Scuba diving not sure

Secrets Huatulco Resort & Spa is located on the beach in Conejos Bay, with a 385-yd stretch of golden sand, beautiful rock formations and sapphire waters. Wait service is available at the beach along with complimentary sun loungers, towels and palapas for shade. This resort does have a swim up bar.
CaitlinCC
Can be rough but not bad for the Pacific. Yes the swim up bar is nice.
jva88
Calm water and yes there is a swim up bar. The beach also has excellent waiter service. Please remember to tip!!
TonyGRD
The waves are calm most of the time...last day we were there was a bit windy so the waves picked up slightly. But calm overall.
Yes, there is a decent sized swim - up bar
thsieh822
Lots of waves and they're rough but it depends on the season. We went last week of May and it was beautiful but not easy to go in the water. There are other bays where you can swim where the water is calm and nice but there are not located in this resort
MIFO
Yes. It is open all day but shut down around 7:00-7:30 pm. They had a good drink selection.

There is a vendor on the beach that was renting wave runners but he was not part of the resort. The resort does also offer a waver runner tour which is awesome!

If wave runners are like ski do's they have those for rent privately from other vendors. They also have kyacks, fishing boat rental trips as well. The resort has paddle boarding classes that are free.

This resort offers domestic and international alcohol at its bars. The specific brands it offers fluctuate sometimes daily - we suggest contacting one of our Beach Experts for their insight regarding what beverages each resort offers. You can contact them directly at 1.800.915.2322.

If you wanted to go scuba diving, or to see another beach or site nearby, how accessible would that be?
We'd like to go scuba diving and possibly other excursions, but I'm having a hard time finding out what is nearby. Prefer not to spend half the day travelling for a 3 hour tour.
3 years, 47 months ago

There are a few dive shops that are about 20 - 30 minutes from the resort. They do offer excursions as well. These can be booked with our Amstar rep at the hotel.
KristenCC
All the outings were within a 2-hour drive; most within 1 hour.

We found La Crucecita and La Copilita very accessible and within a 10 minute taxi ride. Concierge Isabel was most helpful arranging transport by taxi.

what is the nearest town. Is it close to resort.2 answers
Do they have shuddle services to town. And how much do taxes cost. How far is town.
3 years, 41 months ago
Jim K
Please check with the resort directly for the most up to date information regarding shuttle service into town. Their international phone number is: (01152 to dial out) 958-583-0500.
TimCC
Yes they do have shuttle services but they are limited to leaving the resort at 1pm and 3pm. They leave resort and stop at a jewelry store for an hour. Then they go to Play Del Carmen for 2 1/2 hours. If you want to stay longer, the taxi ride is 25$ one way for 4 people. They only have taxis that seat four from the resort to town. Once in town, you can get a van back to resort that will fit larger groups.

Will the resort provide transportation to and from the airport, or do we need to make other arrangements?

You make contact the resort directly, if they do, there would be an additional charge. We do offer airport transportation through a contracted transfer company at an additional cost. If you have any further questions or need help booking, please call and speak to one of our Beachologists at 1-800-915-2322.
TimCC
I don't believe it it does. But the taxi are very reliable and friendly
Lupita
You have to include this in your booking. You can take a cab on your own, but would recommend a private or group shuttle. Amstar
JCarp42
No, but you can arrange it ahead of time through CheapCaribbean and it runs smoothly. There are also taxi's at the airport. I'd suggest that you arrange with the taxi driver before you get into the cab how much the fare would be. In June 2018 it was about $15 each way before tip.

does the beach have sea weed5 answers
is there any see weed on the beach?
2 years, 28 months ago
ny
There very well may be some as most beaches are going to have it to some extent, it all depends on currents and that sort of thing. They could have seaweed one week, none the next, etc. The resorts do their absolute best to keep the beaches as clear as possible.
JeannieCC
No seaweed on the beach. The sand was very rough on the feet too many pieces of sea shells.
Mootsie
I did not see any sea weed for the whole week in July, but water is rough on most days. There is a cove on the far left better for swimming and snorkeling.
