Good as expected

The resort grounds were beautiful! Huge palm trees and gorgeous hibiscus everywhere!!! The beach had plenty of layout chairs to choose from but. It too many where it was crowded, could’ve used more towels as they ran out about 10 am. Great pools to choose from when the sand got too hot! Good entertainment also. I’ll use CheapCaribbean again for sure! All went really easy!

Affordable? Yes - Worth it? Eh

The deal we booked included flights and 3 nights all-inclusive and was very cheap per person, so we kind of expected it to not be the nicest resort. It is a family resort so if you’re going with kids I think it would be fine. Although there weren’t a ton of amenities, just 2 pools but no swim up bars, no hot tubs, no WiFi, not many games. They did have free snorkel gear, paddle boarding and canoes which was great though. The AC in our room wasn’t working very well- lowest it would go was 75 degrees so we told them the first night and they never fixed it. Wasn’t unbearable but it’s a very hot humid climate so definitely something to note when you’re taking a luxury vacation. One of the friends in our group also had fire ants in their room but maintenance treated them very quickly. The bathrooms in the rooms could be cleaner but actual room was fine. Food was ok, I’ve definitely had better at other resorts, but the service was good and there were no complaints when we would order a second entree if we didn’t like the first. There is only one place for breakfast and the line gets long so something to note. And they don’t have servers at the beach or pools, you have to walk to the bars, but we didn’t mind too much as we made friends with the bar tenders and others there. The beach was decent... loved the feel of the winding path with palm trees and hammocks to relax. But there were a lot of rocks in some areas of the water so you had to be really careful. Beautiful water though! I recommend taking a day trip on a boat to El Cielo, a beautiful sandbar with some of the clearest water I’ve ever seen where you can stand waist deep. They can arrange for the boat to pick you up at the dock right on the resort which is nice. Overall, would visit Cozumel again but maybe stay at Secrets versus Sunscape, the sister resort right next to it, if you’re doing adults only. Much nicer amenities, food and accommodations so probably worth the up-charge. However, if you’re on a budget and need a quick getaway with the family, I think this is still worth it.

Sunny Mexico

We had a great time at Sunscape Sabor early in July. We went for a family wedding and the staff made it a truly memorable experience. The rooms could use some updating but everything worked and was very clean. The beds were comfy-we were so tired after all the activities, we slept well. The Restaurant staff was very helpful, especially Hostess Alejandra Mae (Mac?)as well as the Hostess at the Sunny Side (I can't recall her name but she was very kind when our large group wanted to sit together) and waiters Sergio at Sunny Side and Mario at el Patio. The Morning staff at the Portofino could have been a little more pleasant as they were the only faces that rarely greeted us with a smile. The Front Desk staff was great and Fernand at the Unlimited desk (as well as his boss Diego) made finding excursions and extras very easy and fun. It was our second stay at a Sunscape Resort and we were happy to stay in Mexico. The 4th of July Celebration was especially pleasing to our American spirits. The place was decorated so nicely! We look forward to returning!

First all inclusive vacation

This was my first experience with online booking and an all inclusive resort. The vacation was a gift for my oldest daughter (18). Only her and I went on this trip. Booking with Cheap Caribbean was an easy process. Questions asked via email twice, were answered within 1 1/2 business days. Flight with SunCountry Airline was pleasant and both directions on time. They do charge your luggage. 1 personal time is free. I recommend paying for your checked in bags online, otherwise you pay more at check in at the airport. To and from the resort, I booked the shared roundtrip. Everything here was very well organized. There are not many places you need to tip, but here is a tip for the driver, who loads and unloads heavy luggage appreciated. Room at the resort is at 3pm available. We arrived at 10:45am. No problem. Go have breakfast and change your cloth. Enjoy the pool, beach and bar. Pool and beach are wonderful. You can rent (for free) snorkel and other water stuff equipment, Our room had “tropical” (lol) view. We looked at the walkway. At least downstairs, with a tiny patio (two chairs and a tiny table), two queen beds, spacious closet, TV and well working air condition. The bathroom window was a bit broken, but ok. The service maid was outstanding, everything was very clean, daily fresh towels, during the 7 night stay, one change of bed cloth. It might be silly, but we enjoyed the different animals made out of towels ;). I left a tip for her! I asked out of curiosity for an upgrade, or at least a room with ocean view. It would had been $35 each per night. So almost $500 for the week. To much! Food/restaurant choices are good. Except of breakfast. We are not used to Mexican food, but open for new experiences. Anyhow, the breakfast was nothing we enjoyed. The last three days we skipped breakfast and went for early lunch. (You can get fresh coffee and small dry pastries and the bar at the front desk). We tried each restaurant for dinner and found always something new and tasty. The Fourth of July dinner was at the main pool, celebrated with grill and buffet. Very nice! Three bars open from 11 am, bartenders mix almost any drink you like! The people working at the resort give their best to make you feel welcome and comfortable! I’m very impressed by their hospitality! There was lots of entertainment during the whole day. We enjoyed a couple of times the night activities at the pool and had fun. (One night was circus. Acrobatic and dance was very nice, the clown funny, just the magician....-we got the impression he got a magic box from Amazon for beginners. Lol) We booked two excursions with Amstar and were more than pleased!!! They have a table at the resort and are responsible for the roundtrip transportation airport. They had many different choices and helped finding the right things for us to do. We didn’t wanted to do a lot, just something special. So we booked at Dolphin discovery, Chankanaab beach and adventure park, a two marine animals encounter. We decided for the sea lion and the manatees. We got VIP passes, free food at a great buffet style restaurant and drinks. The first encounter with sea lion “Luna” was amazing. I don’t now why, it might been just not much people had signed up, but it was at both encounters, only my daughter and I with the personal trainers of the marine animals. We watched the other people, and they were always in big groups. We felt like royalty. Don’t even try to take pictures by yourself, enjoy the time you get to be close with these wonderful animals. A photographer holds the precious moments for you. The sea lion encounter was already an outstanding experience, but topped by the encounter with 4 giant gentle male manatees. We got more than 30 min to be with them, free swimming time with feeding them salad included. Deeply recommend! Enjoy the park with the beach afterwards and go snorkeling. Simply wonderful! The second excursion booked with Amstar was a snorkel tour via boat from the resort. Three guides jump with into the water with you, always around and checking if you are ok and answer questions about the marine life you see. Tip is appreciated. They do a really great job!!!! You can book some excursion at the hotel too. As far I could overview, it’s not cheaper. Amstar is really good! There are kind of agents at the hotel, who have a welcome package with coupons for you. We didn’t use them, it would been still expensive going to the spa or having a massage. When you are single, they have more coupons available. ;) We attended one painting class one night, with a local artist and painted a sunset. Nice, I learned some painting steps. All over all, we had a wonderful time, made memories for life and enjoyed an awesome relaxing and adventurous time away from home!
