You get what you pay for

The resort is great for those traveling on a budget. First the things we loved. The entire staff was VERY outgoing, helpful, neat and friendly. The variety and quantity of the food at the buffets were over the top abundant. We loved our individual “hut” with a front porch and hammock. The flora and fauna were unbelievable from flowering shrubs and trees to peacocks, flamingos, turtle and iguanas. The resort has partnered with the local humane society and maintains a Cat Cafe for a handful of cats that the spay/neuter and keep healthy and fed. Now for the negatives. Iberostar Cozumel is an older resort that has not been well maintained. The pool had crumbled in places and a lot of the poolside chairs were broken in some way. The mirror in the restroom had fallen off the wall at some point and was precariously rehung with what appeared to be #9 wire and whatever nails the maintenance person had on hand. The furnishings in the bathroom definitely showed age and did not appear clean. The restaurants have decided to go for quantity over quality. Most of the food appeared very bland and anything cooked tasted the same. Even our two nights at non-buffet restaurants were disappointing and we are NOT picky eaters. The breaker that powered our room tripped 3 times that we know of causing our a/c to fall behind so our room was uncomfortable. The waters edge is EXTREMELY rocky and the water was very muddy due to the resorts location on the island-not what you would envision when you think of Cozumel. As is said at the beginning, good for travelers on a budget and considering what we paid for our 6 night stay, I did not expect a 5-star resort, but I feel some basic upgrades and deep cleaning would go a long way toward bringing this resort up to par.

Amazing vacation!

This was our 1st all inclusive resort vacation and all I can say is I will definitely be back! The staff was amazing, the food was incredible and the location was fantastic! We Landed at the Cozumel airport and I was not prepared to stand in line for 50 minutes to clear customs but it turned out ok we met some good people inline to chat with that had been to the island before so they told us a couple funny stories which made the time go by. Our transport was waiting right outside for us a few more people. Once we were all in it was a quick ride through town and then to Iberostar resort. Once we were there it was truly like a great romantic movie. The lush green landscape, the beautiful pools, the fantastic cabanas and oh my let’s not forget the Beach and Water! We fell in love with the resort in a matter of minutes and our opinions never changed each day only impressed us more than the day before.

Amazing vacation! Amazing vacation!

Vacation time I’ll never get back

I wanted to badly to enjoy this resort and it just failed over and over.i also have never left a poor review but this was unlike anything Ive ever experienced. A late evening check in left us with no greeting or welcome to the resort. We were taken to our room which was MUSTY. The floors were dirty and toilet bowl clearly had not been cleaned. The beach was nice (best part of the resort), the pools were not. Tiles were missing from parts of the bar and always dirt or leaves in the pool. Throughout the week, I hardly saw anyone cleaning. Anything. Beach, pool, bathrooms....Those with children, please keep a close eye. I never saw a lifeguard actually on duty either at the pool or on the beach. Then things took a real turn. 2 days into our trip, we were awoken by the toilet making noise. After a short struggle to repair, we discovered we had NO WATER. This went on for TWO DAYS. Anyone we asked at the resort gave no answers. Some suddenly stopped understanding English. I asked in Spanish. I got blank stares. The employees clearly had not been told what to tell us. When we finally got water, it was another day without any HOT water. I asked the front desk for bottled water. They claimed to have none but some would be delivered to our room. It never came. So we spent days of our vacation without water, no idea what was happening and realizing that all the guests were eating at the buffet without any way to wash their hands. (No antibacterial gel was offered like every other resort I have ever stayed at). I also don’t know how housekeeping cleaned without any water. I don’t come to Mexico for the food, and I cringe when I read reviews of people complaining, but this resorts food was by far the worst, the “restaurants” are just terrible, and then we had to try and eat knowing hands had not been washed. I ended the last 2 days very sick. When we checked out, I was not asked how my stay was. They attempted to charge me a “late fee” as we stayed an hour over in our room. We had never been told what time check out even was! I spent more time trying to get out of this place than enjoying any of i.

Would recommend but with warnings

Excellent staff... above average food for all inclusive... rocky beach.. rooms average well kept... in a 4 day stay we were without air conditioning and hot water... tour boat left 10 minutes early without us...had credit card closed due to gas station steeling our number... and was ripped off 50 bucks by the same gas station. Other than that it was a great trip.
