Disappointed

The resort description is misleading. On the resort website they described the resort as having five different pools. Once you arrived on the property you see that two of the five pools are for Members Only. Also on the website it describes five restaurants that you can choose from. What it neglects to tell you is that two of the restaurants are buffet style / snackbar Style while the other three you can only choose to make reservations two nights of the seven that you are there. The buffet option would be nice but the food is not very good and it is very hot In the dinning area. In the lobby there are people there to help you make plans for any excursions but it seemed as though every thing that we booked had hidden cost that came later. Also we were told we had to make arrangements for airport transfer on the day of arrival but that was a meeting to try and get us to buy excursions. Also people in the lobby will tell you different things than people that you're set up with to meet for your airport transfer so you're not sure which one to trust. We also had a situation in which we set up a wake-up call that we never received that could have been potentially ruined one of our excursions. On a positive side, the property is very nice and clean and the rooms are very comfortable and cool. The maid services were awesome. The bartenders do a great job. The entertainment during the day was lacking but the evening shows were great.

Great for Price

For the price we paid, the resort was great. The pools and exterior of the resort was gorgeous. The beach was beautiful as well. The service was excellent and everyone who worked there was exceptionally well-mannered and kind. The food selection felt more of a college dining hall - the spreads were good but the food was just mediocre. There were three restaurant options, however we were limited to one and chose to go with the asian cuisine. It was great, yet ironically it was the only time all week that I became sick afterwards. There was also a power outage during dinner one night and lasted for about 5 hours, which left most people in a panic.

Cheap and it shows

The staff was wonderfully courteous, cheerful and eager to help and answer questions. The room was okay. Little ants/baby mosquitoes everywhere, but they said nothing could be done. On the day of our arrival, our room wasn’t ready until about a half hour after check in time, and we had been waiting for three hours. The lunch buffet was mostly cold and most of the options were very dry and flavorless. We tried to make reservations on the first day and they said we had to wait until the second day. The second day came and they were full, so we had to eat at the buffet (again meh). Third day, all but one option were closed and the one was booked entirely, so it was the buffet again. We opted to go downtown. Last day we finally got the reservation. Excursion are good and cheap compared to other areas. Pools are clean, but close by 8, so no night swimming or lounging in the jacuzzi. Would go back to a different property at a higher tier owned by the same parent name. I recommend you do the same unless you have small children.

Allegro Cozumel

My husband and I were celebrating our 27th anniversary and wanted to get away for a long weekend. We wanted all inclusive and had a budget in mind; Cozumel is what we decided on and we had a very good time. When we first walked into our room, we were a little surprised with the accommodations; not the typical “condo stays” we are used to. Reminded us of Gillian’s Island Huts (in a good way!). Very different and fun. The grounds were very well kept. The maid staff was amazing. They work so hard. Always had clean towels and the frig stocked! There were a lot of options for food and cocktails. Although it’s all inclusive, they greatly appreciate tips so have a lot of singles with you! As much as we enjoyed our stay, we would probably pick a resort next time more for adults only. This resort was a very family friendly place. So if you are traveling with young kids, you’ll love it. There was a huge water area for kids with lots to keep them busy, conveniently located next to the “swing bar” so you’ll have no problem snagging a beverage when you need it! Seemed to have great evening entertainment for the kids as well. Downtown was a good 15-20 minute cab ride from the hotel. It was about $15 each direction. You could spend a lot of time downtown and never run out of things to do. Endless restaurants, shops and water activities including boat tours. We took a five hour catamaran tour which included beverages, lunch and snorkeling. It was expensive but was a great memory.
