Worst experience

This is a very old building. The rooms are like a hotel room. Air conditioner doesn’t work well at all. Musky odor in the room. No room to unload your suitcases. We complained for two days. They lied to us and told us that the rooms were all the same. Finally on day 3 of our vacation we were put in contact with the manager. He moved us to a suite where we we able to somewhat enjoy the last few days of our trip. The staff kept telling us the manager wasn’t there for 2 days but he told us that he was there the whole time and just learned of our complaints on day 3. The staff is not very accommodating. The best thing about this place was the suite we stayed in the last few days and the manager. There were a couple of good restaurants and the pool was nice. We will not return to this place.

Top 10 restaurants, not very personal

The good: -Out of the top 10 restaurants in Cancun (per Tripadvisor) there were 6/7 on the resort! -The food presentations at Benazuza was my favourite with a 20 course meal. and Akeru sushi was amazing! Get the philly special. - There are 3 swim up bars, the first opens at 10am. -No mosquitos at all! - Theres a left side of restaurants and a right side of restaurants, kind of big but not too terrible of a walk. - Make sure you book the actual Pyramid that gives you the black Pyramid bracelet this will get you into all bars/restaurants and premium liquor at the O beach club bar. - The lobby becomes a stage at night with performances like singing or acrobatic performances which was great to walk out to. -The water is teal blue in ALL of Cancun no matter where you go! There is seaweed and they don't rake but it's a great view. -Airconditioning works great in the rooms. -Housekeeping came everyday and did a great job organizing our belongings, they were very detailed and gave us suggestions on outside of the resort places to go. -Fountain Bleu for breakfast 100% - the buffet.... well it was a buffet so you know. - There's a koi pond outside and a plantane tree short enough to reach plantanes! I recommend picking and breaking it in half, the koi fish love it! The bad: -Crap ton of kids everywhere! It's "kids stay for free" until December I believe. Makes for a weird situation when you want to twerk and pound tequila shots. -Swim up bars closed at 5pm........... whyyyyyyyy - Coyote Loco was the main dance-y bar scene but it closes at 1am... so that was weird because now you have a buzz and not really anywhere to go. -Had to make reservations in person the day before you wanted to eat at some restaurants, it was time-consuming. -The rooms could've been better, small and not alot of area for your stuff. The door to your porch area is super hard to open and close so make sure the other person is awake in case you lock yourself out. -The staff isn't very personable, they don't take you to your room or help with bags, any questions are very short and not explained. - The $500 resort credit is a book of credits to use in the resort that all add up to $500, which isn't really how it sounded when you book.

Great beaches and decent pool. Terrible service

The beaches and pool are njce mainly just because it’s cancun. There are many dining options however the food is not very good. They give you terribly small portions and the quality of food is not great. Some restaurants run out of certain menus every night. Customer service at the hotel is a joke. Took 2 hours to check in. No one is helpful and no one seems to care or want to help. Definitely will never stay here again.

Wonderful 33rd Anniversary!

Wow! What can I say?!? We stayed at the Pyramid (black wristband) at the Grand Oasis Cancun & it was a lovely hotel! The resort is large, so be prepared to get your steps in, but the resort grounds are beautiful. And there are peacocks & iguanas! Juan P, who works in the lobby of the Pyramid, was very friendly & gave directions & suggestions. Wonderful man & it was nice getting to know him! Pamela, the hostess at Le Buffet, was a joy! We enjoyed eating breakfast at Le Buffet, clean, great fresh fruit, great service & beautiful views! Pamela greeted us each morning with a smile & a sincere "hello" that made for a wonderful beginning to our day. Truthfully, there are a lot of dining choices & we didn't "love" them all. The buffets are typical buffet. We tried the two Mexican restaurants & the pizza restaurant. They were okay. By far, the BEST was Benazuza! I simply cannot adequately express how wonderful it was! The food was great, but it was really the whole experience. You need to have the black wristband for this place, make your reservation 24 hours in advance & there is a dress code. It is definitely worth it - just know the portions are bite-size, but there are about 20 courses. We did not leave hungry! Angel & his group provided excellent service & as an extra special touch, women receive a rose at the end of the meal! Another good place is The White Box! This place also requires a reservation & a black wristband & has a dress code. The food was yummy & Elizabeth & Ricardo provided excellent service! The Pyramid has a show on several evenings, in the open middle of the hotel. It gets quite loud, so you don't want to be trying to sleep at that time. But you will want to see the show! The Red Caberet dinner show (also a black wristband function) was a nice experience, both the dinner & the entertainment. There is a casino that was so much bigger than we thought! Our room was nice, clean & a great air conditioner. Also, daily turn-down service with a nice little chocolate! Our room was well stocked with bottled water, sodas, beer & snacks. Clean towels & sheets. We faced the lagoon, our choice, & it was a lovely view. The public areas are clean, all the staff was friendly & our week at the Pyramid was great! Mornings spent on the Bali beds, yoga classes on the deck overlooking the ocean, the huge pool, the beautiful Caribbean blue ocean... I look forward to our next visit! This was our second visit to an Oasis resort. Both were great experiences! I am honestly surprised at some of the poor reviews!

Wonderful 33rd Anniversary! Wonderful 33rd Anniversary!
