I thought the resort was absolutely gorgeous and I had the time of my life there. I thought everything was great. If youre trying to decide between the different levels of this resort definitely go with The Pyramid it’s more expensive but well worth it and everything it comes with.

Best for (singles) ages 20-30

Gerald from Cheap Caribbean made the whole booking process a breeze. My friend and I were departing from different locations and he was super helpful in putting us both on the same connecting flight so we didn't have to travel alone the entire time. We were able to easily locate our transportation at the airport and immediately checked into our room upon arrival. I wasn't anticipating such a quick check-in and was excited to be lounging at the pool at around 3 pm after getting into our room. Our room was very clean and I really appreciate how environmentally conscious the resort is. After reading reviews about the AC not working in the rooms, I was surprised to find that it was freezing in our room for the majority of our stay. The only issue with our room was that some of the outlets didn't hold plugs well so we had to move the hair dryer and chargers around, but ultimately, not a huge deal. Keep in mind that the rooms in the Pyramid can get noisy due to the echo-y lobby as well as the loud performances at night. The resort and grounds were very beautiful and well maintained. The worst part of the resort was the food. I could best compare the dining experience to that of a college campus. Unfortunately, we had a really negative experience at Il Forno Dos Lunas our first night there which set a bad tone for the resort as a whole. We did find that the Pyramid exclusive restaurants offered better service. We enjoyed dining at the White Box and the buffet was a great option for breakfast. The best restaurant food and service wise on the resort is Maki Tako, thanks to our awesome waiter, Carlos. He really made an effort to make us feel welcome, offered suggestions, and ensured that we were being taken care of. I wish that there were more ala carte and late-night dining options. The nightlife is average...we found the best bar to be Coyote Loco but it is pretty on par with any other bar in the United States...lots of drunk people spilling beer everywhere. Although we didn't go every day, we really liked having the option of going to one of the Oasis Beach Club's day parties which added a fun spring break vibe to our trip. Otherwise, we were able to find more quiet and peaceful locations to lounge by the pool throughout the day if that's what we felt like doing. The main reason why we picked this resort is that we didn't want to be stuck with families or was really easy to meet other people around our age at this resort and make friends! Overall, I think that this resort is a great option for anyone who is single from age 20-30. It had all of the wild, party aspects that we were looking for but we also really liked that there were peaceful areas of the resort as well so we could do whatever we wanted to depending on our mood. I just wish the food was better.

MPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THIS RESORT! We stayed at the Pyramid at Grand Oasis from February 20-27, 2019. Because of flight delays, we did not check in until around 11pm, so it was dark.  In the morning I was dismayed to find out that we did not have the ocean view room we had paid extra for. I went to the concierge on Thursday morning to ask to be changed to our ocean view room and was told that there were no other rooms available.  End of discussion. I was not happy. I did not talk to the concierge on Friday because we were going on excursion. I went again on Saturday morning, was put off again. Sunday morning I went again, talked to the same person I talked to on Thursday and I was being quite a bit more pushy.  Finally I was told to come back again at 10 after the “room controller” would be in. So I came back, finally we were moved to a higher up floor with my ocean view. But it took me 3 times going to the concierge (actually 4, with going there twice in 1 day) and some complaining to get the room we paid for.  I was not happy with how they managed my complaints, it should not be so difficult to get what you reserved and paid for. Customer service is not Grand Oasis’s strong point. On the flip side, we ended up having a wonderful time, after the room change.  The resort grounds and ocean view is amazing. The building itself is in need of a makeover & repairs.  Rooms are ok, beds were comfortable. Things to know to make your stay great: 1.      Be sure to get the black band.  You will have access to the best restaurants & top shelf alcohol (not available at all the bars). 2.       Be sure to go to Benazuza and the Black Hole.  To get into them, you have to go to concierge at 7-9am (go early at 7) to make reservations, which would be for the next night.  They are specialty gourmet restaurants and are amazing. You eat in the dark in the Black Hole-it was a very fun experience. You may need to get more food at the buffet afterwards… 3.       Many of the restaurants have particular hours. For instance, to get into the White Box, you need to go wait in line, starting at 3 to get reservations for that evening.  I would suggest going AT 3:00, they fill up fast. Careyes opens at 1, you just have to stand in line. But very good food. 4.       Le Buffet, located in the the Marketplace is VERY good.  We ate breakfast there every morning, with mimosas. They cook your omelet or eggs right in front of you, amazing chefs.  We only ate Le Buffet once for supper, but it was so good, with shrimp & salmon that is cooked right in front of you. 5.       The beach is absolutely beautiful! There is some seaweed on it, but the beaches are not owned by the resorts, they are public property. 6.       There were some vendors on the beach, but they were never annoying in my opinion.  Just say no thank you & they leave you alone. 7.       Be sure to bring plenty of sunscreen!  If you run out, the gift shop charges $28 for the same stuff you could get at Walmart for less than $10.  There is a gas station across the street that is pretty close to resort, I was told. I asked people who were checking out if I could buy their leftover sunscreen & they gave it to me! 8.       Do some excursions!  We did an excursion that took us to 4 cenotes, it had repelling & zip lining, kayaking & swimming.  It was amazing! We also went to Chichen Itza, it was an experience, but in my opinion, it was too long, we were gone 12 hours, long bus ride there & back. I was missing my beach!  A half day excursion to Isla Mujeres would’ve been better. 9.       In order to get a bed on the beach, you need to go down early, like 7am & save a spot with your towels & a bag.  We did that almost every day, we never had a problem with anyone messing with or moving our stuff. 10.     You will get better service if you tip! We had a wonderful week at Grand Oasis!
