Self-identified as the "Grandmaster of Fun," you can feel the buzz when you step into the lobby of this luxurious, beachy resort. Along with the largest beachfront pool in Cancun, where you can chillax on a private beach club with Bali beds and food/drink service, you've also got endless entertainment, along with premium amenities and services. You'll revel in live concerts, music festivals & shows and themed parties, some of which turn up unexpectedly - dancers seemingly appear out of nowhere and cut a rug in the lobby or comedy skits materialize by the pool. At night, the sizzle continues with a burlesque cabaret show in the Kinky nightclub, along with the brand new multi-level Red Casino at Grand Cancun that's open 24/7. The rooms have an ocean or lagoon view so you know you'll be gazing at some sweet blue hues. Nosh at 25 epic international restaurants, which includes five of the top-ranked restaurants in all of Cancun. Bonus: Pyramid guests receive one free gourmet dinner at Benazuza. Throw down at 27 rockin' bars and then wind down at the spa with massages, facials and body wraps. Truth is, there's amazement around every palm

During the chek in they placed us in Oasis room instead of Pyramid building we paid for. It took me long and firm refusal to be placed in Pyramid room. It should not happen.
This was an amazing deal! We got the vip experience with the black wristband. Staff was amazing. Every vacation I have booked with cheap Caribbean has been above and beyond expectations. The cigar bar at this place had excellent service! I think it would help to have a small tour to find where to go, it’s not hard to find your way around but would be nice to have all options on the table to begin with. The food was excellent! I stayed away from the buffet and only ate breakfast there. Not saying it was bad food it was nice to have a sit down meal. The black hole REQUIRES black dress and black button up. The seafood and taco place is to die for! The beach did have quite a bit of kelp but if you take a stroll you will see all the resorts have the same issue. The excursions are a must, we did the zip line cenote and tulum. They are all amazing! Tulum did get rain so pack a plastic bag for electronics just in case. The worst part of the trip was coming home to -30 snow.
First time with black bands. The dinners at the special restaurants were fantastic, the other buffets are just so-so. The entertainment is also top notch. The place is great for couples and for families. Beach is very rough.

The towels are included one per person and if not turned in at the end of your stay you will have to pay (not sure of the fee). The lounge chairs around the pool are free but they have beds with some shade near the pool facing the ocean, and on the beach that are $25 for the day, also lounge chairs under straw umbrellas on the beach for $20. That also includes a waitress to bring your drinks instead of you having to go to the bar yourself, well worth that alone.
Erin83
There is no extra fee for chairs or towels. There will be two towels for the beach in your room when you check in. Use those, then exchange them for two clean towels at a Aquaworld booth on the grounds. Relax...and repeat!

Beach chairs are available, first come basis. But, chairs are only available in roped off sections of the beach. You can not move the chairs close to the water

Balcony at The Pyramid and ocean view/lagoon view?5 answers
Just a question, Cheapcaribbean answered a previous question about a balcony on every room and the answer was yes, there is one on every room in the Pyramid. The room description on the CC site says that ocean view/lagoon view are available beginning Dec. 24, 2015? Where does the balcony have a view to?
3 years, 44 months ago

The balcony would have an ocean view or lagoon view respectively.
TimCC
every room in pyramid has a balcony. Depending on what floor you're on, you get either ocean view or bay view.

For me ocean view but on the ocean view is a lot of palms so you probably don't see the ocean so don't send theone on soming is not really good. Let them chose for you. Maybe the give you an ocean view and you'll see.

Our lagoon view/North side 2nd floor
Balconies are narrow but comfortable.

What exactly is included with the Sian Ka'an amenities?5 answers
Looking forward to our stay here again. This time we are staying in the Pyramid. What exactly is the Sian Ka'an upgraded amenities? Is is pool chairs or beach chairs? Is there a bartender service somewhere on the beach? Thanks for any help you can give!
3 years, 43 months ago
Massachusetts
The Sain Ka'an is actually pretty nice. The first thing is at check in, you do not need to stand in line to check in. They will have a private (air conditioned) room for you. You will get a cheap bottle of champagne as well which is a nice gesture. There is a VIP lounge which I took advantage of as they have more premium alcohol there.
As for the beach, there is a private beach with a bar and wait staff. Once you tip the person waiting on you a few dollars they come by very often with beverages. There are several beds and chairs that are also available to relax in.
srmwildcat
Sian Ka'an are extra amenities such as another restaurant you have access to, private check-in/check-out and better in room amenities/services. For more information you may contact the resort directly or speak to one of our Beachologists at 1-800-915-2322. Thank you.
TimCC
Sian Ka'an is essential in this place. It's what made out stay worth it. You can access the beach club, which is the only place where they will take drink orders from the cabanas and beach chairs on the beach. They also have a decent lunch menu from 1 to 4 I believe and you can make reservations to the best restaurants with your VIP Sian Ka'an bracelet. There is a bar right above the beach vip beach area only for VIP if you prefer to get the drinks yourself. I hope I'm not too late! :)
annoyedtourist
Yes to the chairs, there are bars by the beach.
Nery
they have pool chairs all around the pool and beach chairs along with the beach beds all through out the resort. and yes you have bar service on the beach and the pools. there is even a swim up bar!

When our driver dropped us off, there was a valet with a list. We were on it and theu escorted us to the concierge where we were taken directly to our room, skipping all of the lines! It was awesome!

Not very well. No sign said so. We were pointed to a check-in room and waited, and then was told to go the room on the other side and waited. Plus some other not smooth issue. Our total check-in time was more than an hour. Both rooms are indeed for VIP check-in.

Does the Pyramid provide complimentary ground transporation?10 answers
3 years, 43 months ago
pittsburgh
There is NO complementary ground transportation to the Oasis Grand from the airport. However, we used Cancun Transportations:
https://www.cancuntransportations.com/
For $75 we got a PRIVATE, NEW, clean, comfortable van and a driver with our name on a sign waiting on us at the airport. He took us directly to the hotel and dropped us off and arranged for our return trip. On our departure day, another driver in a very clean new van arrived at our hotel right on time and picked us up and took us directly to our gate! VERY VERY pleasant ground transport experience!
Clifno
They do not, we are contracted with an airport transfer company if you would like to add airport transfers. If you need help booking please speak to one of our Beachologists at 1-800-915-2322.
TimCC
no, you have to pay for your own transfer

No they don't. I recommend booking the shuttle through cheap Caribbean, it's only about $12.50 each way.

deemcintyre
No....you have to pay. 24 dollars each way for shuttle. 40 each way for taxi. However, you can take a bus around for a dollar. Just not to the airport.

Transportation to and from the airport10 answers
Is there transportation to and from the airport? How far is the hotel from the airport? How much does it cost to rent a smart car for a week?
3 years, 42 months ago
Holly
Amstar is the company conected with oasis resort
Vegas7
Yes, they do have transportation and it is very good. It's $25 (through cheap caribbean - Amstar). I recommend you use them. Yes, they do rent smart cars for $50 per day at the resort. I would not recommend it. The cars have a huge sticker that makes you stand out and let the local cops know you're a tourist and you will get pulled over. Taxis are also very expensive. Take the local buses. They are about $1 per person and very safe and efficient. You can get anywhere!
pool49
The Pyramid at Grand Oasis Cancun is located in the Cancun Hotel Zone, 20 minutes from downtown Cancun and 25 minutes from Cancun International Airport (CUN). CheapCaribbean offers contracted transportation as an additional amount. Please check with the resort directly for the most up to date information regarding if they offer transportation.
TimCC
Shuttle is around $25 per person, each way, depending the company you choose. The hotel is around 20-25 minutes from the airport. Smart car is free for 3 days if you stay 5 night, or something similar. You can find that info in the website. However, you still have to pay $30/day for insurance.
annoyedtourist
The resort is not far from the airport we booked ours through cheap Caribbean and that cost me $25 round-trip. The plus side is that you don't have to worry about how to drive there but the downside is that you need to get picked up three hours before your flight home which I think is a little too early to go to the airport especially if it's a domestic flight like I had connecting out of Mexico City back to LA. Booking it one way there and take a taxi back may be a better option. The resort does have smart cars for rent on the property so you can always book one of those when you need it, that's what I would do rather than renting a car for the week. They also have a great public bus system that only cost a dollar each Way to go up and down to the different resorts and downtown.
BeachLover360
The hotel is about 15 min from the airport, you can pay $24 per person for a shutle round trip. Would not recommend a smart car, it could be very expensive.
Nery
There is service through Cheap Caribbean to the hotel. The hotel is 30 minutes away. Did not rent a car. Walked across the street to water world (free water sports) then took the bus to a dinner cruise excursion (20 minutes away) was easier and cheaper that way, although we did not have children in tow.
APN2017
We booked our transfer through CheapCharibean.com at the same time that we booked our trip. They booked us with Amstar and they were fantastic! It was probably about 20 minutes or so to the resort from the airport. We did not rent a car, so I don't know what it costs.
scoppi
We prepaid for transportation through Cheap Carribbean. Airport is 20-30 minutes away. Smart car is about $200-$225 for the week. They are manual transmission only.
Amanda46107
Book you transportation in advance through CheapCaribbean

Is the water safe and purified at this resort?10 answers
I was wondering how the water was at this resort. Do they use a water purifier? I understand we probably should not drink the water straight, but what about things washed in the water like salad lettuce or fruit. What about frozen drinks or drinks with ice? Is it safe?
3 years, 42 months ago
Needingavacation
The water is purified St this resort. But they advise not to drink the tap water. We ate the lettuce, fruits& had drinks with ice & never became sick. They offer water at all the restaurants & bottled water too!
Boots4u
The resort does offer water bottles, please check with the resort directly for the most up to date information regarding food/drinkselection. Their international phone number is: (01152 to dial out) 998-881-7000.
TimCC
All drinks and water are included. In some restaurants wine is at an extra charge, however, there is plenty of other choices to replace a glass of wine. As far as washed vegetables or fruits you would have to prepare the salad yourself to find out if they are washed.
Nery
No
Karent3161
this is the only resort I have not gotten some kind of Montezuma's revenge at...and I've been all over the carribean and Mexico...they provide plenty of bottle water in case you're still wary...but the food and water were great...no problems at all
MarinaSteveandMorgan
We used bottled water for brushing our teeth, but no issues with food salads & fruit) or drinks at all, the use bagged ice.
Balcony5
Yes, they use purified water for everything. All was very safe. they also give you all the bottles of water that you desire.
BeachLover73
Water is safe. For the room they provide bottled water brushing teeth etc. do not drink the faucet water.
Jimdawn
Just got back and everything was fine where the water is concerned. I am especially at risk being on anti-rejection medication from a transplant but I had no issues while there. They stocked our refrigerator with bottled water and while at the beach, the waiters brought us bottled water as well. I worried about rinsing my toothbrush but again, that was fine. I'm not sure if they purify there water for sinks/showers but to be safe just keep your mouth shut while showering and use the bottled water for the in-room coffee and tooth brush rinsing.
APN2017
Ice is filtered, drinking water is filtered, DO NOT DRINK FORM A TAP. They will give you plenty of bottled water. You don't have to brush your teeth with bottled water, but don't swallow the water when brushing your teeth, or showering.

What color bracelet do you get with a logoon view room in the pyramid?8 answers
I am so confused. We stayed at the Grand Oasis last year, not in the pyramid. We got black bracelets last year and did not have access to all the bars and restaurants.
We booked the pyramid this year and most of the reviews here and on trip advisor mention having clear bracelets and access to everything.
I called the resort and was told I would have a black bracelet again this year, but would have access to all bars and restaurants.
I want to be sure that we can get into the Sian Ka'an beach club as it is the only place with service on the beach. We're assured this is included by Cheapcaribbean and the hotel, but all the reviews say only clear and gold bands get access.
Have the band colors changed recently? When were you there? What color bracelet did you have and did you get into the Sian Ka'an beach club?
2 years, 29 months ago
Warminster, PA
As far as the actual color of the bracelets is concerned, you would need to contact the resort directly. The Grand Oasis brand has recently updated their amenities, and so the only way to get the Oasis Sian Ka'an club amenities is to book in the Grand Oasis Sens resort in the Sian Ka'an room category. We just returned (reluctantly) from The Pyramid in Cancun yesterday. We had a black band which gives patrons access to all the amenities. Make sure you reserve a beach bed down at the Sian Ka'an beach club, it is excellent. You have no worries at all!
BrowningOnDaBeach
Just got back from Pyramid and we had black bracelets - got excellent service. Went to most restaurants there and saw a couple get turned away because of bracelet color. We went everywhere on site and never got turned down. Maybe when you went and had black bracelet, the color for top service was a different color? Good luck this time.
APN2017
Black bracelet gets you into everything. We just stayed at the resort last week.
johnsota
We stayed at the Pyramid and had black wrist bands. We were there Feb 1-5 2017. We had access to all the restaurants and bars, including the Sian Ka'an beach club. We did not see any clear wrist bands at all. We only saw two other color wristbands which were both limited on some of the bars and restaurants.
scoppi
I got back last week. I had a black bracelet that got me access to everything. "Pyramid" = black bracelet and access to all bars and restaurants. It is worth the few extra bucks IMO.
Dloon20
We had black with access to everything.

The black band will give you access to everything. you will access to everything all restaurants and bars and clubs!

The Pyramid at Grand Oasis5 answers
Whats the difference between black and clear bracelets?
2 years, 28 months ago
USA
Not sure on the exact colors but the different colored bracelets indicate which resort level you are at. It goes Oasis Lite, Grand Oasis, and then Pyramid at Grand Oasis, in ascending order. Each level up grants you access to more restaurants and amenities.
CCGreg
With the black bracelets you had usage of the VIP lounge, special check in in a private room and special seating at the shows in the lobby.
sue1
Our black bracelets were VIP all access some others with different colored bracelets had to pay for certain items.
PhillyMark
The black bracelets are the only way to go. They offer more exclusivity such as dining in their specialty restaurants, some free water sports, and in the morning going to the exclusive black band wearers breakfast bars so you don't have to worry about the morning crowds. Also, where you sleep at nights counts, I like serene and quiet at night. I dont know what the other side sounded like but I know with the black band and me being in the Pyramid it was as exclusive as you can get.
TanofNY
believe me there is a huge difference. the black band gives you access to everything, all of the restaurants, clubs and bars

What's included in the all inclusive package at the grand oasis?5 answers
What restaurants and how many times can you eat and the jet skis and drinks? Also is night life included also?
2 years, 27 months ago
Dskaf
You will have unlimited access to all of the restaurants at the resort, domestic alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks are part of the all inclusive package. The Sevilla restaurant and Hacienda Sarape do require reservations. Jets ski rental is available directly through the resort for an additional charge. The bars and night club are also included at The pyramid at Grand Oasis. Top shelf liquor may be available for an additional charge.
MikeCC
Lots of duplications in the restaurants - several Italian and Mexican and they all have the same menu. Best restaurant is the Careyes - fish and pasta and the Maki Taco. The Maki Taco is Mexican/Japanese fusion which sounds strange but is excellent. No limitations if you are staying in the Pyramid. The water sports are off site across the main street and down about 1/2 a mile.
All of the clubs are included in the all inclusive
Marysk
The pyramid package is "full access", the black bracelet. With that bracelet there are 9 bars and restaurants that others can't frequent. You can jet ski on beach, 60 bucks per 30 minutes.
Dloon20
Drinks are not included at the indoor nightclub called kinky.
Some restaurants require reservations and drinks aren't free. Most food and drinks are free except top shelf liquor. Some places only serve beer though. There's always an outdoor party and dj at the pool. Jet skis are available at a cost.
Deannah
The Grand Oasis guests do not have access to everything like the Pyramid of the Grans Oasis guests!

Why can't we book a vacation with 2 children?4 answers
We have 2 children, ages 7 and 3. I cannot seem to book a room on line.
2 years, 26 months ago
Raleigh
This would be due to the occupancy restrictions for the rooms, you would need two. The occupancy restrictions are as follows:
Max occupancy: 3
Max adults: 3 (w/ no children)
Max adults: 1 (w/ up to 2 children)
Maximum occupancy: 3 adults or 2 adults & 1 child (0-12)
JeannieCC
Not sure why, but I would not take children here.
Amanda46107
They only allow 3 people in a room. Which means you would have to book two rooms so your whole family can go.
JJ1988
Call the 1800 number and speak with a beachologist. they can book a trip for you as well. sometimes they can find a better deal.
Nugsbabylinda
It may be because many hotels seem to have a 3 person occupancy maximum.

I just stayed there and if you make sure to book a room at The Pyramid, then you will get the highest level of all-inclusive access, which comes with the black wristband. There isn't anything higher than that and I highly recommend choosing only this level of all-inclusive package. That way you can enjoy all parts of the resort and stay largely, although not completely, isolated from the frat-party scene. The whole resort definitely has a fun and lively atmosphere!
kyleinsf
Select the Pyramid of the Grand Oasis all inclusive through CheapCaribbean. This selection automatically gives you the VIP service.

What is the dress code at the restaurants?7 answers
Can men wear shorts & sleeved t-shirts and woman wear peddle pushers and tops in most of the restaurants for dinner?
2 years, 25 months ago
The Pyramid at Grand Oasis
There is one restaurant that requires men wear long pants and a collared shirt, the rest are casual dress.
StevieCC
Yes, you can, your chest has to be covered, in other words, no swimming suit. Some restaurants do required an specific protocol, but the majority of them don't.
Rosmery
Very casual. There was only one place where we had to go back to the room, but that was to put on jeans.
devcon
There was only one place we got turned away from (while wearing black bracelet) and it was because my man was wearing sandals. It was right in the lobby where the gambling is. I forget the name of the place but I was totally disappointed and upset because we were both dressed nice, button down short sleeve shirt with long beige slacks but with sandals. Heck, we are on vacation and the toes should get to vacation too.
APN2017
Only three of the 24 restaurants required dressy attire, including closed in shoes for men. I am old school and think for dinner you should dress anyway!
Nugsbabylinda
Yes in most of the restaurants. However, at least three of them require a dressy attire for men and women.
Nugsbabylinda
CLOSED TOED FOR MEN. -- some places have outside sections that allow toes out. pack a closed toe pair.

What kind of beer is stocked in the mini fridge? What kind of beer is served at bars?5 answers

The alcohols served is generally going to an upgraded mini-bar with premium alcohol. For brands, you would need to reach out to the resort directly as they can change these at any time.
JeannieCC
There was two different mexican bottled beers in the minifridge one was a full flavored that began with a B and the other was a lighter beer something Sol. They also gave you coors light in the can. They gave you two of each each day. The bars generally had Dos Equis on Tap. I also saw Henekin by the can given out at some of the bars.
RogerKris
Modela, Coors, and another Mexican beer. They only serve Dos Equis in the resort. No Corona anywhere.
Amanda46107
Mini bar - Modela, Coors, and another Mexican beer. Dos Equis only in the resort.
Amanda46107
Mini-fridge is stocked with Coors Light, Sol, Bohemia, and sodas/water.
All of the bars serve Dos Equis on draft. I drink Dos Equis a lot in the states and let's just say I haven't had it again since returning because it just wasn't good. Other beers at the bars were canned and they were Heineken, Coors Light, and some other one that I just can't recall.

The resort offers things such as live concerts, music festivals & shows and themed parties, some of which turn up unexpectedly - dancers seemingly appear out of nowhere and cut a rug in the lobby or comedy skits materialize by the pool. At night, the sizzle continues with a burlesque cabaret show in the Kinky nightclub. For a full schedule of activities during your dates of travel, please contact the resort directly.

Plenty of bars and possibly shows in the "downtown" area.

What restaurants need reservations10 answers
What restaurants need reservations and where do you make them. Is there a time frame during the day that you make reservations? Should I make them the same day or a day before?
1 year, 19 months ago
Missouri
Reservations are required for Careyes, Hacienda Sarape, and Dos Lunas. You would make these reservations with the concierge, we recommend doing so 24 hours prior to the preferred reservation time, although sometimes the resort may not allow the reservations until the day of.
JeannieCC
There's about 3 restaurants that you need to make reservations for, Black hole, Benezuza and The White Box. (only included with Pyramid guests). You make reservations 24 hours prior, no sooner. White Box you make reservations at the restaurant itself, they had folks there around 2pm to start taking reservations. Benezuza and the black hole you need to make reservations with the concierge (near the photo shop and casino).
TWDB12
Only the four restaurants that are provided with the Pyramid. The day before would be best, but you can also make a reservation the same day, but it has to be really early.
JJ1988
White box
Jay94
They will give you a pamphlet that lists all the restaurant and bars. The ones that require reservations will be marked. It also includes the dress code. Just go to the O-World office in the main lobby in person and they will take care of you.
ShannonH
Is you have a Black Band you can make reservations for Benazuza and The Black Hole the day before you want to go. It is best to go early in the day to make the reservation in the concierge located next to the wedding/photo office. They will only make reservations the day before you want to go. Check your schedule because the resturants are closed on some days. Careyes is a Black Band restaurant as well but doesn't need reservations for Lunch or Dinner. The White Box requires reservations and you have to go to the actual restaurant on the day you want to go at a certain time (I think 2-4) to make the reservations.
xlos
Only three require reservations, The Black Hole 1 day prior, The White Box same day, and I can't think of the other name but it is an exclusive restaurant and you must dress for it.
Nugsbabylinda
White Box and Black Hole have to have reservations, You can make reservations a 3pm the day you want to do. Be there at 3, they fill up fast.
DebWilcox
The White Box takes reservation from 3pm, and it only for the people with the black bracelet.
Illinois1
You can make reservations at Black Hole and Benazuza at concierge. I would recommend doing it as soon as you can. The White Box you have to do directly at the restaurant at 3pm day of to make reservation. Kind of a pain but it was a really nice experience.
