Did not disappoint, again!

This is the 5th time I stayed at this RIU Palace resort. People always ask me, why I don't try somewhere else. Well, to put it bluntly, I love this place, If the resort changes in any way, I'll go somewhere else. A few years ago, they underwent a major overhaul, I was very nervous when I returned. They made a lot of major changes, I did NOT have one complaint about any of them. I've traveled quite a bit in my 53 years, I used to take two cruises a year, Europe, etc. I then started doing all-inclusive resorts. Cancun had always been on my list, after extensive research, I had decided on the RIU Palace. It was better than anything I had experienced. Top shelf liquor, food, service, cleanliness, accommodations, friendliness and the size of the resort is perfect. No tram car needed to go to lunch or beach and no pushy excursion sales. I've been there in January, February, March, April, and October, the weather is always perfect (water was chilly in Jan & Feb). I've booked through CheapCaribbean 4 times, never had an issue, transportation was always flawless. The only negative thing I can think of (and it's really stupid), there is a 24 hr. cafe off the lobby. One day I walked out with a piece of pizza (which really sucked), this guy comes chasing me down in the lobby, took my pizza and yelled at me for taking food out. Meanwhile, there are people walking all around with plates of food from the buffet and BBQ and drinks from the bar. Stupid, but it really ticked me off. This resort has gotten so popular, since my first visit in 2014, it's getting difficult to book the dates you would like. Even a year in advance. I sure hope things don't change, if it ain't broke, don't fix it!

Nice Experience

Overall it’s a very nice resort. Pool and beaches are excellent. Food was better than expected. Staff was wonderful. Only complaint was they had pushed 2 full beds together to make our “king size” bed.

Great Time!

My friend and I came here April 10-15. Overall, it was really nice. The one thing I didn’t understand was why they closed the pools at 6-7 pm. It is an adult only resort. And the bars outside near the pool closed at 6. Also, there was no hot tub. There was a circular part of the pool which had jets, but that was it. An indoor hot tub would have been nice. The resort has some specialty dining places as well: the steakhouse, Japanese restaurant, Italian, a place called Krystal (not sure what kind of food it was suppose to be), and a Mexican restaurant. If you didn’t get to these places right when they opened at 6:30, there was a 45 min wait. There was a buffet for dinner as well. All in all, it was a great time!

We came here for our honeymoon. Everything was beautiful. We had a blast. My husband complained about the food because he’s a beef/chicken type of guy but I enjoyed the food because I’m much more open minded. We were definitely the youngest couple there but still had a great time.

What's to Love

Newly renovated in 2016, all-inclusive everything and no reservations needed at any of the restaurants.

You're a seashell's throw away from the Cancun Hotel Zone's awesome - shops, eats and clubs.

The massages at the Renova Spa. They squeeze every ounce of stress out of you.

The free scuba lesson in the pool. Dive in. It'll be a blast.

The Jacuzzi in one of the pools and the swim-up bar. Plenty of ways you can make a splash.

The resort feels like a huge Spanish castle, and this is perfect. Here, you're beach royalty.

At Los Arcos, you can get both Italian and Brazilian tapas. Delish.

What We'd Change

While the beach isn't large, there's still plenty of places to work on your tan and enjoy your own stretch of Cancun's finest beaches.

Why You Should Go

It's just 12.5 miles from the airport so get ready to get your vacay on. Soon.

You have access to Riu Caribe & Riu Cancun - kinda like you get three resorts in one.

Karaoke happens at night so rest your pipes and get ready to serenade your adoring fans.

Release your inner adventurer and go windsurfing, canoeing and snorkeling.

Mayan ruins are near - the pyramids of Kukulhan in Chechen Itza. Bring some sturdy shoes.

You can rent a scooter/moped and tour all the epic beachiness of Cancun that's around you.
