Worst hotel experience ever

I had purchased one of those deal packages where you don’t find out where you’re staying until one week before. HUGE mistake! This hotel does not offer very much beach at all; the swimming pools are cold, and the so-called lazy river is one of the smallest that I’ve ever seen. Unless you have a lot of money to spend—to allow you to go on the tours, you will be extremely bored as the resort itself is very boring. For an island resort, I expected to see gardens of flowers—there were none. I also expected fresh seafood and a vast array of fresh fruit, but I was left without. I would have much rather paid for food & been offered more choices. Also, don’t plan on getting any sleep if you stay here because it is the noisiest hotel that I have ever stayed in.

Very Disappointing Resort

This resort is old, rundown and understaffed. No pool towels available the first 3 days. No pool/beach chairs, unless it is raining. No reservations at restaurants means waiting in line at least 30 mins before it opens or waiting 1-2 hours to eat if you're not in the first seating. The menus don't change all week and the cafeteria food is about 2 stars--very disappointing. The staff is all very pleasant and helpful, but there is not enough of them to keep the place cleaned up or the service up to par. The kids have a lot of fun on the slides and ship pools, but there are LOTS of them running around and making messes that don't get cleaned up very quickly. The resort itself was filled to capacity, but on Wednesday they let 4 buses come use the facility from the different cruise lines. They are under new management and have a lot to learn about running and staffing a resort and pleasing their guests. I would NOT return to this resort or recommend it to any of our friends.

Not a 4 star at this time

Sunscape just was taken over by a new company they are working hard and around the clock to do much needed repairs and changes to the resort. Staff was very friendly always ready to help and made you feel like nothing was too small or to large for them. The room was ok bath tub needed a good good cleaning and the ac didn't really work. Bars didn't really have a lot of stuff but that's ok had a lot of great drinks. Asian restaurant was honestly amazing, however the Italian place was just ok. Buffet was pretty good in our option. At the end of the day it was a good vacation and everyone down here was super nice and helpful! Overall if kids and a family great place.

What's to Love

Red carpet check-in at Sunscape Splash Resort & Spa along with chocolate chip cookies to nibble on.

The Pirate's Paradise Waterpark (ahoy, mateys!) with a pirate ship and a plank for wayward mutineers.

Kids get a passport that will kick off a scavenger hunt (read: keeps them occupied so you can chill).

The stress-smashing massages and skin-awakening body scrubs at the luscious spa. (Are you melting yet?)

The private peninsula with over 1,800 feet of beachaliscious white sand with palapas where you can find your perch.
