Not Bad

walking into the resort it seemed a little outdated. the check in was great and while i arrived before usual check in times they had my room ready within 20 minutes. if you're looking for a luxurious room - not the place for you, the room was a little on the small side and very basic but it does answer the needs of sleeping. for 2 out of the 3 days, the room wasn't cleaned (or more important, the minibar wasn't filled with water) at 3:30 when i was done with the beach which was on the annoying side. the beach was very nice and maintained, i didn't spend time at the pool but appreciated the kiddy pool. i scheduled a SPA appointment and when getting there found that i would be delayed 30 minutes due to delays in the previous appointment. they claimed they tried to call my room but i had been in the room for the 2 hours before so i have some doubts. the treatment itself was great. the staff at the restaurants was wonderful with a call out to Albert and Joy. they remembered me after the first night (it may have to do with my name) and when i mentioned i liked something specific, they made sure to bring it to me. the rest of the wait staff was on point as well.

Great Bargain Getaway

This was a total last minute trip booked four days before we left. Friends were already booked for this resort and we liked that is wasn’t far from the airport. The food at the buffet was okay for quick meals. Not every restaurant was open every day/night. The better food options were in the restaurants. The drinks were lacking in alcohol and seemed to be watered down—the beer and wine were good. The resort was small which gave our kids the ability to roam about and never be far away. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. They entertained us and our children and really made sure the kids were involved in daily contests and games. We spent four days and three nights at the resort which was perfect. The rooms were all different—some updated, others in need of updating. Stunning sunsets each evening!

Good for kids, service lacking

This is a reliable, economical resort for parents with young kids, and my kids enjoyed it. However, the resort is older and budget-conscience. Our room (on the Cove side) was too warm throughout the visit. The air conditioner struggled to keep it below 80 degrees, often failing. I called the front desk the day after we arrived, again and again, asking them to look at it. After the third call, they sent a maintenance man who felt at the vent with his bare hands, then left. After another call the next day they sent another man who did basically the same thing and tried to convince me that if I set the room thermostat to 50 degrees instead of 60 it would make the room (which never got below 75) cooler. It didn't. Eventually, I gave up on the AC rather than let it take up more of the vacation. The pools are nice and the food is OK (the best is on the buffet as the sit-down restaurants are not that great). Service is slow because they don't have enough staff. Again, your kids will love it and it will be fine for adults as long as expectations are managed.

What's to Love

Feeling like royalty during the red carpet check-in while nibbling on frozen treats.

Every room is upgraded to The Sun Club, a family-centric program that features fun things for the kids like cartoons in the rooms & milk and cookies.

Kids get a resort passport that kicks off a scavenger hunt (read: keeps them occupied so you can chill).

The Pirate's Paradise Waterpark (shiver me timbers!) that includes a pirate ship and a 40-foot plank for wayward mutineers.

Getting pampered at the spa with stress-ousting massages, rejuvenating facials, and more. (A nice break from all the pirate stuff.)

What We'd Change

Sometimes the restaurants are busy, but you don't need reservations and the resort staff is eager to get you in as soon as possible.

Why You Should Go

Spectacular snorkeling at Montego Bay Marine Park, Jamaica's first underwater national park with protected swimming areas.

It sits on a private peninsula that boasts over 1,800 feet of beachtastic white sand with palapas, under which you can find your perch.

Dunns River Falls, a famous, rockin' waterfall, is near.

Eco-adventure tours are available, and waiting for you. Bring your bug spray.

It's near the "Hip Strip," a cultural epi-center filled with handcrafts by local artisans, Jamaican food and island hospitality, Mon.

Golf is available just 30 minutes away. Schwing.

No irritating wristbands required.
