Not what I expected

Food choices were not what the menu online listed. Lunch options had no air-conditioned restaurants. Dinner options were limited to buffet, Asian, Italian. Would loved to see some fresh seafood offered. Our room was comfortable, nothing special. All the information we saw posted showed the Cove was adults only, which was not the case. Children were staying at the Cove, in the restaurant and on the beach. If you want an adult only experience, this is not the place to stay. Dress code was not followed during the dinner meals we had at the restaurants. The grounds and beach was beautiful.

Trip of a lifetime for me!

Imagine being welcomed by the loveliest host/hostesses money can buy. From the time I was met by the shuttle people...to the time I said my goodbyes...they treated me like royalty! "Welcome home" they said when I arrived...handed me a rum punch and then brought me a cool rag to wipe my sweaty brow. At every turn there was someone to help me. I was escorted to the Gift Shop by one of the Assistant Managers - I just asked directions. Whatever you needed...the staff accommodated. We were even invited to a Manager's Appreciation dinner...so much fun!!! We hired a driver for 5 of us to go to a local market-not the tourist market but a true market where the local folks sell their goods. It was $60 but the driver stayed with us and then took us on a little tour downtown also. It was so fun to talk to the staff about their homes and how life is in Jamaica. The bar and jerk chicken grill on the beach were part of our every day fun. Imagine swimming in clear waters down to the bar...order whatever your favorite beverage may be...then step over to the grill for some delicious jerk chicken. All you want. The resort celebrated the 4th of July in a BIG way. Great food...great entertainment...and then fireworks! It was so busy they had to set up tables by the pool but they gave us a private waiter to make sure we had what we needed! I do not remember everyone's name but a few highlights were Jason, Jolaine, Esther, Mr. Cool, Mario...so many more I cannot remember. The housekeeping staff were so sweet and helpful. Rooms are decent...clean and roomy. Beds were a little hard for me. Upstairs can get a little warm so if you like it cooler...take a ground floor room. You don't spend that much time looking at the view because you're usually outside. I would eat at the Terrace and then at the buffet. The other restaurants might have AC but the food isn't as good in my opinion. You may want to have the bartenders tweak your drinks but they'll do whatever you want. Be sure to take lots of $1 bills...gratuities might be included but all the staff really appreciated our tipping. Their great service, kindness, and enjoyable spirits are worth it. As with every public shared space...there are rude people but I did not notice many here. I enjoyed meeting many other travelers and only saw a couple grumpy folks. Not sure how you can be grumpy at Sunscape! I hope to visit again...LOVED it!!!!

A Decent Resort

I've never been to an all-inclusive so I can only listen to my friend's experiences at other resorts and they were slightly let down with the quality of food and service available here. I was part of a larger group here but personally, I really enjoyed myself and never found myself regretting the decision to spend a week here. The buffet was good, drinks were good and staff was very friendly. The restaurants on-site are very slow but the food is decent. We visited the pan-asian and it took an hour to get food. The food was good, but a long wait made it bitter. One person had something stolen from their room, we never received towels in our room, most people had trouble getting bottled water until they pressed for it, another had their room left ajar from room service, another didn't receive the butler service they paid for and some had issues with booking/canceling excursions. When things went well, they went very well. When things went bad, the staff's attitude changed. Some would say they were on top of fixing situations but didn't follow through, or we received run-arounds and redirections at every point. At one point the resort manager was involved and rather than be empathetic of our issues she was very defensive/argumentative. Ultimately, after an hour of speaking she did help make the situation better, but getting there could have been smoother. Environmentally this place was very nice. The resort was always very clean and someone on staff was always near by to bring you whatever you needed or pick up what was just left by someone else. The beach was lovely, but pretty rocky/full of shells. Walking barefoot near or into the water hurt for the first 5-6 feet. I would have loved if the resort would comb the sand or something. Resorts are generally expensive but Sunscape Cove offered some really nice deals to get a good Jamaican experience without breaking the bank. And for that I'd consider recommending it to a friend, with caveats of course. For my wife and I's first all-inclusive experience, and our first trip to Jamaica, we had a blast.

Good Deal

I was under I the impression that I had booked a room with 2 queen beds instead I was put in a room with 2 full beds a bunk bed. When I spoke with management I was moved to a nicer room. The new room was marvelous.

What's to Love

Feeling like royalty during the red carpet check-in while nibbling on frozen treats.

Every room is upgraded to The Sun Club, a family-centric program that features fun things for the kids like cartoons in the rooms & milk and cookies.

Kids get a resort passport that kicks off a scavenger hunt (read: keeps them occupied so you can chill).

The Pirate's Paradise Waterpark (shiver me timbers!) that includes a pirate ship and a 40-foot plank for wayward mutineers.

Getting pampered at the spa with stress-ousting massages, rejuvenating facials, and more. (A nice break from all the pirate stuff.)

What We'd Change

Sometimes the restaurants are busy, but you don't need reservations and the resort staff is eager to get you in as soon as possible.

Why You Should Go

Spectacular snorkeling at Montego Bay Marine Park, Jamaica's first underwater national park with protected swimming areas.

It sits on a private peninsula that boasts over 1,800 feet of beachtastic white sand with palapas, under which you can find your perch.

Dunns River Falls, a famous, rockin' waterfall, is near.

Eco-adventure tours are available, and waiting for you. Bring your bug spray.

It's near the "Hip Strip," a cultural epi-center filled with handcrafts by local artisans, Jamaican food and island hospitality, Mon.

Golf is available just 30 minutes away. Schwing.

No irritating wristbands required.
