First Time in Jamaica

Loved the quaintness of the resort and the comfortable size. Only 4 different dining options, but quite a variety. 24 hr Room service was available, and the food arrived quickly, very fresh and good. Small problems in our room: leaky toilet, trouble getting hot water and no working electrical plug near vanity; just small inconvenience in a great place. We met wonderful staff, who after a couple of days, they treated us like family.

perfect

Very nice resort Two ideas for being better : Put a sign in front of the main restaurant about the schedule of the day. Don't allow people to let their stuff on the beach mattress over the night to reserve it for the day after !

BEST STAFF N THE WORLD! HUBART FOR PRESIDENT

First time to Jamaica and first time we ever left the USA. We just back two days ago- we went Christmas 2018, everything with the resort and people were great, they exceeded ALL EXPECTATIONS in every way. WE LOVED THIS PLACE ! I will be upfront, if you looking for crazy party resort this is not your resort if you looking for GREAT family atmosphere and relaxing this IS YOUR resort. Me and my wife are beach lovers so I would like to particularly point out a worker that we met on the beach. His name was Hubert and he worked the beaches in the morning. I can not explain HOW GREAT HE WAS !!! Hubert went ABOVE AND BEYOND for us to make sure our experience was great. He made sure we had everything from cleaning our private cabanas to making sure we had fresh towels all the time. Even climbed a tree and got us both fresh coconuts. The cabanas and towels were great but where his skill really is was communication and GREAT conversation about the culture and Jamaica. I love to learn about places we travel too and I learned so much from Hubert. About Jamaica and how the country came about. He REALLY knows his history and how to communicate with tourist. Hubert needs to be working with tourist and in customer service cause his customer service skills are PHENOMENAL. I could have listened to him talk all day about Jamaica and just learning about the culture. I just can't explain how HAPPY WE WAS with Hubert and how he went way beyond to help us- keep in mind he just works the beach. We spent every morning talking to him. After our first day I would go look for him every morning to make sure we was laying on the beach in his area so I could ask him questions and listen to him. Thankfully we got to spend 3-4 days with him on the beach. I don't know if he will ever know how much we appreciated him but because of him WE WILL BE BACK TO Melia Braco Village and Jamaica. Hopefully one day we will get to meet him again. If you at the Melia Braco Village PLEASE FIND HUBERT !! Tell him Jimmy said hello !! You will be happy you did !! Thanks, Melia Braco Village and Hubert, You both made our dreams come true Jimmytitan44, Hagerstown Maryland, USA.

Chance to Breath

Six months ago my wife was diagnosed w/ stage 4 NSC lung cancer. Needless to say this has turned our lives upside down. We have always loved to travel but since our discovery, we have only managed to escape to gulf shores to a rental house for a week. My wife and two of her sisters have always been close and we often vacation as three couples. Our trip to Melia Braco was an opportunity to have the three sisters spend some time together and just be away from everything else we face. We booked two rooms, one for my wife and I, the other for the two sisters. We booked Beachfront and asked for one w/ two doubles and one queen. I will mention that this is first time to this resort but 4th or 5th time to Jamaica, Resort tried to put us in Oceanfront (2nd floor) in adjoining buildings, trying to tell me that they had done so to accommodate our bedding request. With one sister being 67 and having bad knees and my wife's condition we conveyed to front desk that we had paid for ground floor and that was what we wanted. Given that the resort was probably no more than 50% occupied they made the switch for us in relatively short time, Feedback would be that if you are going to downgrade someone's prepaid reservation you may want to ask what your guests priorities are first. Resort on the primary side (not "The Level") is probably 170+ rooms..well laid out and very close to the beach, Grounds were extremely well kept and clean, really liked just walking the grounds it was that pretty. Rooms were functional, a little spartan but not overly worn and housekeeping and the guys stocking the fridges made things efficient and well kept. This is not a high end luxury resort but the buildings, grounds, rooms, etc would all grade out B or better for us. Food was very good, not great but way above average. I will give the country of Jamaica this versus most all other Caribbean Island nations, it is not just beans and rice. The curries were good, the fruits and vegetables were good and coffee was very good. I had curried goat and conch, both very good. Carved meat stations and soups were excellent. Buffet gets an A-. We tried the non hibachi portion of Nikkei restaurant and the Rasta Pasta. Both very good as well although the night we were in Nikkei the wait for our food and corresponding service not optimal. Beach is rocky, no doubt..welcome to the north shore. the spits built out into the ocean and the close in natural outcroppings create three nice wave breaks and were very good for snorkeling within 65 yards of the shore. Water is clean, beach is clean and well tended and given the occupancy rate you could find a chair wherever you wanted. Feedback here, the beach loungers are metal and plastic weave and are not the most comfortable, improving them is costly but would improve the experience. All in all, I'd give the beach a B to B- Staff was awesome. Weather it was the grounds crew, the servers and bartenders, housekeeping, front desk, no matter,,,,,they were the difference in our stay. For the relatively small size of the resort (which we prefer low slung beach resorts to massive locations) every aspect of the staff, including the entertainment each night was as good as any we have ever had anywhere in the Caribbean, perhaps with the exception of our last trip to Antigua. One point of feedback on the entertainment, when the show is over don't spend 15-20 minutes introducing each member and doing some solo display and asking for the audience to show some love for every member. Let it be over. Regardless....Solid A Wrapping this up, I want to say I read a number of the reviews about Braco Village (good and bad). Yes, it is humid and the type of air conditioning used has a hard time keeping it down it the room, but it cools fine. I might suggest not leaving your doors open and expecting it to stay 72 degrees fahrenheit in your room. Beach, food, staff, facilities, shops...all were very positive for us and we would consider a repeat to this location given the value we got and the staff we encountered. Last point of feedback..Jamaica all inclusives have always been just that...IF there is some expectation of tipping the facility needs to call that out. I'd be OK if you added 1-2% to my daily rate as long as I knew it was going to the staff. But in previous trips to Jamaica, we have always been told they could not accept tips and that to reward them, write up a comment card. Melia Braco...you need to better define your policy for your guests

What's to Love

Fancy new duds throughout the resort that create that stylish level of lavishness you want.

A private beach where the views are endless and the beach bartender already knows your name and your favorite cocktail.

You can keep your beach bod looking svelte with a session or two with one of the on-site trainers at the fitness center.

Traveling with the fam? Perfect, because Kids & Co. will take care of the young tykes - they want to have a little fun time, too.

Vegging out at the spa with a beachside massage - leaving the beach would require too much effort - remember it's your vacay!

What We'd Change

You'll be in the quiet Trelawny Parish which doesn't have the nightlife like the Hip Strip in Montego Bay, but you're here to relax on your vacation and with this location, you're close to many of Jamaica's best tourist stops - like Dunn's River Falls.

Why You Should Go

The resort is away from the hustle and bustle of Montego Bay - you're drive is about 45 minutes from the airport and oh, so worth it once you arrive.

The Adventure Park has all kinds of fun activities - zip lining, rock climbing & trampolines.

You're close to some of Jamaica's favorite spots to see - Green Grotto Caves, Luminous Lagoon, Dunn's River Falls and Dolphin Cove & you'll find an excursion desk on-site to help you plan all your adventures.

On those nights when you'd rather enjoy dinner on your balcony (and in your jammies) then 24-hour room service will be your thang.
