Luxury Bahia Runaway Bay

This was a mother-adult daughter trip and we loved it! Beautiful property and room with good food and a really nice staff. I have been to many all inclusives before, including the Luxury Bahia Akumal which is similar in many respects-i.e. restaurants, enclosed swimming areas, no ice machines, need to make restaurant reservations when you arrive, etc. That and everyone's previous reviews (THANK YOU!) helped to make our trip a smooth one. The best beach by far is a 15 minute walk to the left just before the nude beach. It's a little far from food except for the pirate-like raft that comes by every day with $3 jamaican patties and grilled lobster with sides for $20-30 depending on the size of the lobster. You just walk out in the water to get it and it's fun and really good There is a bar there and bathroom and our favorite spot was ocean front near the bar and shell seller. We also spent a little time on the Grand cove near the the rock barrier and at the Luxury Beach which is pretty but ridiculously shallow for swimming. We snorkeled at all these spots, and unless you find spotting several kinds of fish exciting, you'll probably be underwhelmed. We brought our own, which I'd advise even if it wasn't that great. Kayaking was a good exercise in the wind too. Building 26 ,7th floor would be my recommendation Beautiful sunsets and the shuttle stops right in front of the building. Luxury pool bar is great for a drink fill up before heading to the room at 6:00. Not pool people but we did get a kick out of the crazies at the end of the day. The food is good at the buffets but is standard all inclusive and not very hot. They have microwaves at both the main buffet and the pool restaurant near the toaster..Saved my breakfasts! The jerk chicken at lunch is really good and we found that requesting white meat led to a better portion. We had no problem getting dinner reservations. which you should do after you check in, especially if your party is larger than two. Our favorites were the two Asian restaurants, Don Pablo, and Rodizio.. Some understaffing and not always hot food, but hey-they try hard and oh well. The quality was pretty good. The vendors on the beach selling weed, shells, carvings, etc. were all very chill and a no thank you was all that was needed. We never felt hassled. The staff was also great- hope that everyone has some $ for tips.

Luxury Bahia Principe - Jamaica

Just came back from our second visit to the Luxury Bahia Principe in Jamaica. We enjoyed our week...here are some observations: Positives: * We ate at all 7 restaurants, as well as the buffets. Food was excellent. * Last year the desserts were not very good...this year they were excellent * We requested to have our room moved to a different building and were accommodated. Staff was very helpful. Negatives: *The pools closed at six. Way too early. Pools should be open later. * Need hot tubs and hammocks and other places to gather on the grounds * Entertainment was subpar and was exactly the same as a year ago. Need new and better entertainment. Michael Jackson show was not good. Sycronized swimming in a 4ft pool is not entertaining. * Need more activities during the day and evening. Nothing to do after the pools close at 6pm.

Great time

We had an amazing time. The resort was beautiful. The grounds were very well taken care of. Everything was clean and spotless. We had pretty good service the whole time. The buffet and bars were fantastic. We stayed ocean front 6th floor. Our room and view was amazing. Our room was always stocked and clean. We definitely will be back.

What's to Love

It's an all-inclusive, all-fabulous Beach Bliss Fest.

The evening turn down service, bathrobe and slippers in the room & butler service.

Sipping cocktails, living large, on the private beach.

Getting one free hour of kayaking, paddle surfing, snorkeling & catamaraning.

What We'd Change

Parts of the beach are rocky, but if you bring some water shoes, you'll get to walk around and enjoy those parts of the beach, too.

Why You Should Go

It's 75 minutes from Mobay airport. Patience, young jellyfish. You'll be beaching soon.

Bring your water shoes - parts of the beach are a bit pebble-y.

Before your flight home, hit Club Mobay at the airport for A/C, drinks and lots of spoiling.

Bob Marley's home and the famous Dunn's River Falls are nearby and well worth a visit.
