Nice, with some flaws

Check-in was easy and they accommodated my request for a quiet room on a top floor due to insomnia. Little did we know that we had an adjoining room door and our neighbors would be getting in at 3 AM. We could hear everything through the door pass, including brushing their teeth, going to the bathroom and everything they said. We ended up having to move rooms, to a lower floor but without an adjoining door and it was much quieter. The food was just okay. The buffets for breakfast and lunch had pretty much the same mediocre food each day (lunch theme changed sometimes where there would be one set up with the themed food). The restaurants were okay as well- we liked the Surf and Turf restaurant the most, though the service the second time was very slow. It took almost 2 hours to get through our meal. They do have a great coffee shop in the Suites next door, which I would recommend. I got a 50 minute Swedish Massage and it wasn't good, so I would not recommend that.I have high standards though, the room was freezing and it just felt like she was rubbing oil on me, not actually getting out any knots or tension. The pool was nice, though pretty cold, which was surprising because of how hot it was outside. They played Jamaican music everyday, which fit the destination. We didn't have a problem getting chairs, though we are early risers. The beach was nice and the water was warmer than the pool. They have a small spot with an artificial reef that we snorkeled near and saw some fish. The non-motorized sports were not available due to the winds in January. I was very disappointed about that. Overall, it seemed to have a lack of activities to do around the resort. They had a few aerobic exercises by the pool for 20 minutes and a few beach volleyball tournaments, but that was about it. We mostly ended up laying by the pool or hanging by the beach when they made delicious seafood and chicken paella (that was probably the best food we had there, other than the Surf & Turf). The best part of our vacation was feeding and petting the cats that live at the resort. They were adorable and entertaining. Overall, it was a relaxing vacation, but I would not return. I preferred the food and activities at Valentin Imperial Riviera Maya in Mexico that I booked through CheapCaribbean instead.

Twice as nice!

Overall iberostar totally lived up to our expectations. The room was amazing, view was spectacular, service as expected for 5 star, Duran our morning butler was awesome!! The evening activities were fun. They jept you entertained while still maintaining the adults only ambiance for relaxation. The only draw back was not much variety with the food, beach buffet also had no variety ( same 4 options for 5 days). Only one coffee shop that was shared with other resort next door. Nothing grand about that. And some of the restaurant food was cold. However the surf and turf was amazing!!!! Mostly what put a sour taste was Amstar transportation ( not fault of iberostar). They were 45 min late for airport and the women kept trying to figure out why instead of booking next taxi. She showed no urgency and said we will not charge you. Excuse me but I already paid for my transportation and she was not doing me a favor bu making me late. I think that resort and transportation should communicate better together so the entire experience is seamless. Not sure if there will be a third time.

First time, definitely not the last

This was the first trip I have ever made like this and thank you cheap carabbean. Com for not making it my last. Description and reviews of the iberostar grand rose hall spot on. Once through customs it was very easy to find our ride, and you don’t need to exchange money everyone has American prices as well. Greeted at the resort with damp cloth and mimosa for check in. Everyone is so friendly and helpful it makes you feel so welcomed and comfortable. The room was spacious and cozy, balcony overlooking the beach was a good choice. Events and entertainment everyday and evening so you don’t have to leave the resort if you don’t want to. All the food was great, sit down or room service. Mini bar restocked everyday, plus numerous bars around the entire facility. We got to know our butler and house keepers so well we were hugging each other on our way out. This was my first vacation like this and I will be doing this hopefully annually from now on.
