JIP family vacation

The resort was nice food was good the first two days but then it seem like they kept reusing the items. We only went to one other restaurant which didnt offer much. Other restaurant you have to pay extra for the food or just to go inside. My extended family loved the over resort it was their first time at an all inclusive. We were there during some remodel so we didnt get to test out the adult side. I would recommend it, the staff was nice as well it however would not be my first pick when I return

Will not go back!!!!

I have stayed at the Holiday Inn for over 10 years with a total of 15 stays, this was the WORST EVER. The resort has started to go down hill for the last couple of yrs but we decided to give it one last shot. never again! From the time we got there and checked in we went to the front bar to get a drink and was told that they had no rum cream, WHAT.... that is one of the biggest reasons we go to Jamaica. We were able to find it upstairs in the VIP bar, thankfully we upgraded, that was the only good thing about the stay was that bar and the room service. The adult pool was closed due to renovations and they had a tent set up as a bar in that area, but they ran outta beer, how does that happen in an all inclusive??? We made reservations for the Italian restaurant, all dressed up only to find out that when we got up there that they were closed too due to some repairs. They put us in the other restaurant that was outdoor seating, that is fine if we were dressed for that, but we weren't my husband had dress pants, button up shirt, socks and shoes....we were miserably hot....they should have told us in advance. We went three days with no wash rags, probably 20 calls to the front desk about it only to get trash bags, not wash rags lol....what a joke. The food in the buffet never changes for lunch or dinner, that's why we did room service for almost every night, except the night we walked to a nearby restaurant, Scotchies, loved the food and the locals very cool. Most of the staff are very friendly but you have a few that seem like it's a bother to help you. If you are looking for a mediocre resort this ones for you, spend a little more money and get better quality and food....That's what we decided to do this spring when we go back to Jamaica....

Very Happy with first experience here

This was our first time in Jamaica and our first time at this resort. Absolutely loved both and can't wait to go back!! Right from check in the staff was so friendly and welcoming. They welcomed us with a rum punch as we were checking in, which was delicious! Our room was not ready yet as it was still rather early. However, they put our luggage in the holding room and showed us the way to the buffet and the pool to use until we could access our room. We had a standard king room. The view from our room was looking towards the italian restaurant with a partial ocean view and amazing sunrise! The bed was very comfortable and there was also a small loveseat/sofa and coffee table. As well as desk and chair. The bathroom was pretty standard, the shower was a little tricky to work at first but nothing that a few minutes of patience can't figure out. The air conditioning in the room was ice cold and perfect to come back to after being out in the heat. We had an issue with the room safe at one point. We called down to the front desk and it only took someone about 10 minutes to come to our room and check it out. Which happened to be a dying battery pack that they replaced and it was fine afterwards. The adult pool was closed for renovations while we were there. However the main pool was open and was great. It was very clean and not crowded at all. The only downside is that it is only open until 6pm. There was always clean towels available at the towel hut and there is a bar right next to the main pool so you can just hop out and grab a drink. There is an "island" that you can walk over to with lounge chairs and umbrellas as well. The others in my party really liked that area for snorkeling. For those of us that didn't want to snorkel the wifi still worked on the island so you can browse the internet or just lounge. The restaurants were pretty good for the most part. The buffet had some things that were day to day but also had a lot of selections that changed as well. The best part for me was the fresh omelettes for breakfast. Sadly, we didn't have the best experience at the italian restaurant. It took forever to get our food, both initially and in between courses. We had an incident with one of the drinks getting knocked over on the table by one of the members of our party, purely by accident. There was a couple different members of the wait staff that attended to it. They did not try to hide the fact that they were extremely annoyed by the whole thing. Really not once before of after that incident did anyone from the wait staff give so much as a smile. Bad day maybe. The seafood restaurant was a different story. The service and food were both amazing!! ( and I don't even like seafood haha) We only went to The Jerk Hut during the day but the pork and chicken were both delicious! Careful though as the sauce on the side can be a little hot. I really liked the ice cream at the snack stand and the nachos were not bad. You can book excursions either downstairs in the lobby or through one of the drivers. We ended up booking with one of the drivers. His name is Gifford and he was so great to us all week!! Took us wherever we wanted to go and even called ahead to book the excursions for us. While he was driving us he gave us so much information and history about everything. The company is Juta Tours and his name is Gifford. I very highly recommend him! He even waited until the end of the week to have us pay him for everything and we paid for everything right at once. Although we did tip him the day of trips when we went. If you are coming from the US the options for cell service are limited. If you have the wifi you can just use one of the messengers such as facebook or whatsapp. That was not a bad thing at all. I loved going a whole week with no phone ringing!! The entertainment at night was different every night and great to watch. It was usually over about 10 pm which was perfect for us as we are not night owls. I would definitely recommend this resort and cheap caribbean to anyone looking for a laid back, relaxing and fun vacation.

Great Value

Overall, we had a great time. The beach and pools were great, but the adult area was closed most of the time for repair. We had some noisy plumbing in our bathroom and somedays not enough hot water in the shower, but we were able to work around the issues. We will go back next year.
