Disappointed
Stayed here before and was somewhat disappointed this time with the service. We actually felt like we were treated badly because we booked through Cheap Caribbean and I don’t know why because our trip wasn’t cheap. We had to beg the front desk for a decent room because they wanted to put us all the way in the back and I am not able to do all that walking. Then we were excited about eating dinner at the Italian restaurant, got our drinks and appetizers but then everything came to a stop. Not sure what happened in the kitchen but we (and others) waited over an hour and still no food so we left and went to the buffet. Again the guest services did nothing to make it up to us. Not sure I would go back. Lastly our transportation Amstar to the airport the bus door wouldn’t close so they tied it with a piece of rope and we worried through the 45 minute ride. Not my idea of a relaxing vacation ☹️
We were absolutely delighted right from the start. The airport transfer to the resort was relatively fast and comfortable. However, the resort was overwhelmingly beautiful. The Grand Palladium in Montego Bay was beyond our wildest imagination, even though we had seen pictures on their website.
With a plethora of fine restaurants, and great bars and bartenders, we were treated to some of the best service I have ever experienced in my 40 years of traveling. The staff could not have been more helpful.
On the first day, one of the yard workers asked if this was our first day, and proceeded to pick flowers for our room. This was above and beyond our expectation. And this was just the beginning.
The beaches and water sports availability were fantastic. Lots of sun and shade as desired. Our sleeping room overlooked the ocean, and we kept the door open at night to hear the surf. Very romantic.
We plan to return sometime in the future to Grand Palladium, but we will also explore other options through Cheap Caribbean. Thank you for a wonderful celebration of Mary's birthday.

Set your expectations
This is a nice, average resort. There were pros and cons and making the decision to go here is based on what you're willing to deal with.
PROs:
- The staff! So wonderful and lovely and helpful without even having to ask.
- The pool is huge.
- The resort is nicely spread out so it never feels crowded.
- Lots of entertainment throughout the day. They do a lot to make things fun. We were there for the Super Bowl and they had activities all day culminating in a huge party.
- Some of the restaurants are INCREDIBLE. The food at the Italian restaurant and the seafood restaurant were real standouts. We also loved the tacos and fried comfort food at the Sports Bar.
- Morning mimosa/juice bar at every buffet.
- The Infinity bar has great views and bands and karaoke. Really fun to sit outside with some drinks.
-Coconuts and great vibes at the beer hut.
- Housekeeping did a nice job of keeping our room tidy.
CONS:
- The beach is terrible. It's man-made and small and there were never any chairs. People go down and camp out at like 7am. If you need a nice beach, this isn't the place for you.
- The resort cannot always control this but people are constantly spilling drinks in the pool and smoking cigarettes and other things in the water. I feel like that's really inappropriate and disgusting and they should do a better job of monitoring and enforcing rules.
- While we enjoyed the a la carte restaurants, the buffets were really really bad. We never expect the buffets at places like this to be good but this food was awful.
- Finally, the cats. I am an animal lover and I understand when you go to islands like this you see goats and cows and dogs milling about. However, the feral cat issue at this resort should be addressed. I didn't notice it everywhere but at the seafood restaurant, it was horrifying. We were trying to enjoy our meal and 4-5 cats were begging for food and then attacking one another and actively bleeding and having medical emergencies. It was sad and made it difficult to enjoy dinner. Then of course people were feeding them so more and more cats came. Cats would also come to our patio door. And unlike other places I've been, we saw nearly no small wildlife. No birds or little lizards. I assume the cats are killing them all.
Overall, would I return to this resort? No. We had fun and it was very relaxing but it's not something we would repeat. However, I wouldn't discourage you from booking here. We met women who were there for their 4th time so it's all about what's right for you.
Had a great time! Reset my stress level to 0....
Pools are great...workers are very friendly. Super chill; don't be in a hurry...that's not what you are there for...just Relax Mon.
Food was great, Super bowl party was very cool! I really did not want to leave...and that never happens to me:)
Thanks so much for the best vacation in years!

Would you recommend this resort if I have two (2) small children11 answers
I have two small children (both under 10), has anyone with a similar situation stayed at t his resort and could tell me if it was a good fit for them?
8 years, 97 months ago
RogerW
Yes for sure! Lots of swimming pools, beach is nice, and lots and lots of food choices! The negative I would say is the 45 min drive to the resort from the airport. If your kids will be tired from a day of traveling, I suggest Riu Montego Bay, Hilton Rose Hall, or Iberostar Rose hall Suites all less than 25 mins from airport.
CaribbeanJim
My kid is 10 and we stayed in the Jr. suite. The sofa can be converted into a pull-out bed, which is big enough for two small kids.
Happy123
There were a lot of kids there during our trip and they seemed to be having a blast. The pools and beaches were perfect for kiddos too.
JHark
I just got back from there and there were plent of kids all ages and looked to be having a ball. Lots for kids activity by the pool area games and such with the entertainment guides.
KellJody
I don;t have kids but there were quite a few around. There was a kids play zone where they had activities for kids and they looked happy when I was walking by. Good luck!
DCsunseeker
NO...not much activity for younger children. Very adult focused. The menu items, the activities, the layout of the resort, the staff, and the rooms...not focused toward children.
Shianna
the palladium has activity thats for children, there's so much for them to do. they will never get bored.
sheant
o my gosh! your kids will LOVE it. They let the kids go to the mini club and they learn dances and skits that they perform at the night show. They braid their hair and remember them when they see they around the resort.
hylynn
Yes definitely although we had no children with us they provided a child's section of resort with check in and out of the children that was safe and the children there were very entertained from what we saw
Herquae
Yes, I saw a lot of young children.
Letsgonow
It is a very low key quiet resort with many families with small children. I believe your children would have a good time. The one part of the pool is less than 3 ft deep. There is a child area too.

What are my choices for departure cities. I live in Iowa.2 answers
8 years, 97 months ago
Fred
Depending on where you live in Iowa and where you intend to travel, the airport of choice can drastically change.
However, the major international airport located in Iowa would be the Des Moines International Airport (DSM). However, about 120 miles West of Des Moines is the Eddley Airfield (OMA) in Omaha, Nebraska, so if you are closer to that direction, that may be an option as well.
Happy traveling!
DavidCC
Not sure about departure cities, but if you go to the online booking sites they will show the options of departure cities. We fly out of Pittsburgh, Pa. We have family that have also flown out of Charlotte, NC; Columbus, Ohio, Cleveland, Ohio and Baltimore, MD

What is the layout for the 1 bedroom suites?11 answers
In the 1 bedroom suites, is the bedroom separate from where the sofa bed is? We are thinking of bringing our kids and would like as much privacy as possible.

DJ
The one bedroom suites at Grand Palladium do have a separate bedroom and living area. The sofa bed is located in the living area.
KateCC
The sofa is right next to the beds so no you won't have any privacy
Gixxersteev
There isn't much privacy. There is a bed and then the sofa just of the other side of the room. It is an open living space. Not private.
Shianna
it is a separate BR, but the couch folds out onto the floor. My daughter had to sleep on it and at over $100/night extra ,I wouldn't do it again

one big room
beej
Just one large room with king bed or 2 doubles. Sofa bed is in the same room. No privacy.
bichons
No it is not. But they have a great kids program it is sooooo worht it!
hylynn
Yes it two separate rooms both have balconies plus climate control in both
Chillin
Hi DJ, you are better off upgrading to a one bedroom. We've done it twice and it's worth it because you then have 2 tvs in the room. The king bed in the bedroom is seperate, with a door that locks! The living room area has a sofa bed (best to get sheets on it) and 2 chairs and a table. It's a nice sized room for a couple with 2 kids. Enjoy!
Dolo
I found the ground floor better due to sitting area being upfront w/patio and bedroom in the rear w/patio.....our cousin had a 2nd floor room w/balcony but their bedroom and sitting room were all together
Herquae
Yes, the sofa bed is in another room, but the pull out is disgusting and very uncomfortable. I felt bad for my kids. I would pick 2 queen beds the next time.

what is the cost of the motorized sports4 answers
what is the cost of the motorized sports
7 years, 96 months ago
ted
The motorized water sports are not offered directly by the resort, but instead they are independent vendors located close to the resort. You would be best to speak with the concierge upon arrival, as they would be able to assist you with the best vendors to use, pricing, etc.
KristinCC
I really did not see any motorized sports in this hotel while I was there. If you look at the pictures of the beach closely there is rocks in the water that prevent boats from coming in near the hotel. The hotel itself was far from other hotels and attractions and travel by taxi is expensive.
butterfly2011
they do not have any
sharron1
I don't think they have any. They have free kayaks, paddle boards, etc. and a small sail boat. You can pay to go on a boat trip to snorkel, shop, etc.

Yes, free airport service to/from airport/hotel-are included in this "All Inclusive Package." Also, all meals, beverages to include, water, pop, wine, beer, and other forms of alcohol/non alcohol are a part of your deal. When they say "all included," it is really true, there was even a small refrigerator in the room; which was stocked each day with pop, water, beer, etc. It too was included in this package deal.

They were not included in our package. We added them with Cheapcarribean. Pick up and drop off was flawless.

What is the age limit to be considered a "child"?3 answers
My son is a young teenager and I wondered what the cut-off age is to be considered a "child" and therefore, free.

The child rate at this resort starts at 3 years old, junior rate starts at 13 years old and adult rate starts at 17 years old.
MariaCC
There were numerous children there, with an age rang from a few months to teens. They offered various activities for the children and allowed them to showcase their talents. I was thinking about taking my grands but there are few limitations as to where you can/can't smoke. For example, ashtrays are everywhere, you can smoke in the lobby, outside the restaurants, near the pools, etc.

Hi Heather, Yes, you can take your US appliances and use the hotel's electrical outlets. No need for a converter. We just got back Saturday night. Our 2nd time at Grand Palladium wasn't as great as our first, due to going during Hurricane Season, but we still had a lovely time.

Hi, I did my share of water sports during my stay at the Grand Palladium and you don't have to leave the resort as it is located on the water. I didn't go Scuba Diving but they do offer it off the beach next to the sister resort (Lady Hamilton), which you would have access to if you stay at the Grand Paladium (or Jamaica) side. Scuba Diving, there is an extra charge but you don't have to leave the resort, the boat is right there!

My boyfriend and I flew out from LAX and for both of our flights, the resort, trip insurance and the shuttle ride we paid about $2400 through cheapcarribean.com. Prices are obviously gonna change but thats what we paid flying out of there.

There is no extra charge from LAX. The price remains the same if you fly out of the east coast.

How does this resort compare to Iberostar Rose Hall Beach?3 answers
Trying to decide between the two resorts. I have two children ages 5 and 10. I want to make sure the beaches are nice (swimmable) as well as the pools and that my kids have a great time!
6 years, 83 months ago
Gdaisy
Both of these resorts have similar ratings and similar amenities so I can understand what a difficult decision this can be. The beaches are appropriate for children-very little surf and warm, shallow water. Both resorts have a lot of activiites offered during the day, and a Kids Club where there all kinds of activities are planned to keep the kids entertained. I would suggest that you call one of experienced Beach Experts to discuss both properties in detail and assist you in making your decision.
ccsusan1
The beach is very very small and kind of rocky. I don't know anything about the Rose Hall so I can't offer an opinion on that one.
doitbculveit
I would not choose this for what you are looking for. Pools are great and swimmable but beaches may not be what you are looking for. The nicest beach on the resort is the adult beach and children under 18 are not permitted.

We just got back 2 weeks ago and the AC in our room wasn't terrible but wasn't great either. It was very humid in Jamaica and the rooms weren't as cold as we would have liked.
christinalynn
not that great but ok
fish47
The AC is horrible and the ceiling fans is set on low and you cannot change it to high.
HappyLady
AC was perfect and stay on when we left the room
mcran
Our AC was fine. You have to keep a room key in the slot right beside the door to keep the AC on when you are in and out of the room. Ask for one extra room key for this purpose. There are many bldgs so there may be issues in some. Go to guest services and request a room change if you have a problem. Tipping them will yield better results.
TropFamilyTravs
We had our AC turned up so high that I was cold during the night.
It was quite hot outside last week (July 28 - Aug 4th) but the indoor restaurants were fine in the evening. The only uncomfortable dining experience was at the Italian restaurant, sitting outside in a corner of the restaurant - there was no breeze. Otherwise it was fine.
dzc1
The only issue with the AC being not up to par is if you have a third floor room. Hard to keep it cool. If you like it cold I recommend a first floor room.

Gratuities are included in the total package price. It is your prerogative if you would like to tip your maid, bartender, server, etc. while at the resort. You can also use USD when tipping, however, any purchases would need to be made with Jamaican currency or credit card if acceptable.

No, gratuities are not included and they do expected you to tip, they have no problem letting you know. The Jamaicans would per the US dollar and it does work very well there.

Because the Grand Palladium Jamaica Resort & Spa is a family friendly property, topless sunbathing on both the beach and at the pool areas is discouraged.

WhAt is the cancellation policy? How much is insurance?3 answers
6 years, 76 months ago
Connie
The price of insurance will vary based on the price of you package. In the final stage of the booking process you will be provided with a quoted for Travel Protection. The standard hotel cancellation fee is $50 per person. If you cancel less then 48 hours prior or less = 1 night penalty (total charge of first night)
Early Departure = 100% penalty
KellyCC
Purchased insurance separately $60 for 4 people
TimeTraveler321
Not sure about the cancelation policy, Never had to use it. I do know if you purchase the insurance ( about $100/per person) you get a percentage of your money back if you need to cancel for any reason.

Can you guarantee connecting rooms for my family of 5 March 30th to April 6th of 2013?3 answers
Want either a one-bedroom suite connected to a junior suite or two junior suites.
Prefer privacy for me and my husband.
Children are 17, 15 and 11.
Can you also describe your beach. I like to walk on the beach. Is there room to stroll?
6 years, 75 months ago
jfk
Connecting rooms can be requested, however we cannot guarantee them. The resort only offers a limited number of connecting rooms and they are assigned based on availability at the time of check in.
The beach is wide enough to walk on while accomodating the beach chairs that are set out for sunbathers. There are photos of the beach available on our website as well as real travelers photos on sites such as trip advisor.
KateHCC
I do know that they have connected suites. I am uncertain if they the rooms as you have speciffically described though. I had an ocean front king suite and believe it was connected to the same. There are also private bungalos separate from the villas, depending on what you want.
The beachs are nice but for sure not made for long walks. There are 3 separate beach areas, one of which is very nice but small adults only area, which I totally recommend. Of the remaing two, the one by the main hotel and infinity pool is for sure the largeest of all but the surf is rocky and has lots of seagrass. If you want the best beach there and do not mind lots of children, stick with Scott's Cove.
PD2529
There is an abundance of room to stroll at this resort, but not on its beaches. If you want to stroll on the beach go to Negril. Negril is 7 miles of beach and has over 90 resorts to choose from.

Red Stripe & Red Stripe Light are offered as well as Corona at the Mexican restaurant. Brands are subject to change at any time.
KellyCC
No, but, they serve Red Stripe, a local beer. I normally drink Coors lite and I found Red Stripe to be an excellent substitute.
cheech55
No, only Red Stripe
ThomasPrince62
No the only beer that they offer was red stripe. Im a michelob girl and that is one thing I missed .
grungy354
Red Stripe only. Two bottles in the minibar and Kegs at every bar, including the breakfast buffets :)

I know they offer red stripe. Most of the bars have a light and a heavy and are on tap. We are rum drinkers and have only had the red stripe when there. If you would find it anywhere check in the sports bar. But, I don't recall anyone ever walking around with a bottle or can of beer, except the red stripe they stock the fridge with in your room.

What does this resort offer when it comes to wedding services? Do they help you get the marriage license? How much extra is the wedding services ?5 answers
Looking to get married on our trip. What do we need to do?
6 years, 74 months ago
Queta
Palladium Hotel Group does have a website specifically for weddings (https://www.palladiumweddings.com/en/). The email address to contact their wedding coordinator in Jamaica is weddings.jamaica@fiestahotelgroup.com.
MariaCC
Hi Queta,
We saw a wedding on the beach and it was beautiful. The resort has some kind of an office for wedding services. I would suggest to call the resort directly and check with them.
Alenka
They have onsite wedding planning and will help you with all your needs. They have a lovely gazebo overlooking a bluff on the beach. they also do weddings right on the beach with the reception on the beach as well with torches lit. I am not sure about the price or the license, you can contact the resort and ask about the packages. I do know that a champagne candlelit dinner for two on the beach is $200.
Pumpkin
Please do not go here for such a special day.
cindylob
Contact the hotel, they have a entire area the size of a store for planning and arrangements. We saw two weddings while we were there, both were have the time of their lives.

Not much has changed at the popular resort! It continues to offer great All-Inclusive value to its guests.

It just keeps getting better and better. The beaches have been removed of more rock and increased in numbers of beaches and sizes of the beaches. There are now 4 beach areas when there were only three options in the past. The service and the grounds are still impeccable.

I am not sure how it was in 2011......but currently the place is getting run down and not repaired well (or at all). From a distance it looks great...but up close you can see how badly it is in need of comprehensive repair.

Is this resort good for a bachlorette party?6 answers
6 years, 73 months ago

This resort does have a good amout of bars, a casino, and a disco. So this would be a good resort for a bachlorette party.
CaitlinCC
Yes
ThomasPrince62
Definitely good for bachelorette parties! There were several when we were there a couple weeks ago.
TonyaW
You may want something a little closer to Montego Bay where there is more night life and action. The Palladium is in Lucea (located between Montego Bay and Negril) and it is the only thing around, but completely self-contained. It has a disco and a small casino. It is breathtakingly beautiful, but keep in mind it is also family friendly.
Pumpkin
It would be ok, but I would go to an adult's only resort.
JLM932
I recently stayed there with 2 of my girlfriends and we had a blast. There are lots of activities, entertainment, bars, and good drinks! There was a lot of other fun guests at the resort when we were there, and I'm sure its usually like that. The entertainment crew make it memorable for sure. GPJ is the largest resort in Jamaica, so there is always a lot of fun to be had!!

Airport transfer?7 answers
Does this resort include airport transfers?
6 years, 73 months ago
Marcia
The round trip transfers are an additional cost and are not included in the All Inclusive features at the resort.
KristenCC
No, they don't have free transfers, but they have car services to be arranged if you need one. We pre-booked out transfer with CheapCaribbean and paid $25.00 USD per each person round-trip.
Alenka
Yep! Transfers are included and these people are pros...everything is handles seemlessly. No worries!
Jeffrianne
The airport transfers are included if you are part of their travel club. Otherwise you'll need to get your own transportation. There are several bus tour groups that you can sign up for online and purchase a round trip ticket. Cost was reasonable.
TonyaW
Yes. Cheap Carribean provides the voucher and they will pick you up and take you back to the airport
grungy354
You book this at the end of your booking process. You can choose from a shuttle, or private transportation too and from the Airport/Resort. The transfers are done by a third party, but it is very necessary to hire the driver/shuttle (in my opinion).
Cheers!
cfedei
Your airport transfers are typically included in your price. They price of each transfer depends on how far away from the airport you are staying. Negril and Ocho Rios being the most expensive transfer Montego Bay being the cheapest. It will state on you printable itinerary the transfers and cost. But to be on the safe side double check when booking the trip.

Hi Michele,
We went to the hotel in February 2013 and there were 3 of us. We asked for 2 beds and they also had a pull-out sofa, so each of us had a separate bed. Since the rooms are big you have enough space and don't stumble into each other
Alenka
we got 2 rooms next to each other for our older kids. the pull out sofa is big and would work if you only had 2 kids

There is one elevator located to the left of the lobby. however, this is a very large resort with many walkways that are large enough for a wheelchair and are covered from the sun and weather. Is the tap water safe to drink?7 answers
I know that some places recommend sticking to bottled water, is that the case here?
5 years, 72 months ago
Justin
Resorts now have special designed filtration systems where you need to worry about the water, but they still make bottled water available for their guests since some travelers bodies tend to be more sensitive to this type of change.
LaurenCC
Do not drink the water unless it is bottled. It is free at the resort.
Rivieraman9
Completely safe, I drank it at least once daily. They do provide bottled water in the mini fridge in the rooms. I did not experience any problems. It's not like the water in Mexico. Even in Mexico, the resorts filter and purify their water. I'm not sure about the tap water outside of the resorts in Jamaica, though.

How,s the beach?7 answers

Lorena
The beach is shared with the neighboring resort at the Lady Hamilton. The Lady Hamilton beach is slightly nicer then the beach at the Grand Palladium Jamaica. It is a short walk over to the other beach.
KristenCC
we only used the beach by our room but it was nice and had kayaking and snorkeling plus other stuff you could do for free, plus jerk chicken on the beach. It was a nice beach with lots of chairs and room.
jamaicamoma
The beaches behind the pool area were beautiful. There was a constant breeze off the water. There was a lot of coral though which is hard on the feet and they recommended that you shuffle your feet because there were manta rays that may be buried in the sand. I didn't see any.
There was Sunset cove beach at the other end of the resort which was sheltered with calmer water and sandy beaches which was much easier of the feet. There was also an adult only beach but I had not checked it out.
CRASH
The beaches are beautiful, but rocky. Wear water shoes. Coral Beach has amazing reefs and Sunset Cove has great water sports. All 3 beaches are beautiful and crystal clear. Bring snorkel masks and snorkels or you will have to pay a $25 cash deposit per person for using theirs.
ReefGeek
Just returned from there, and if you are looking for large, sandy beaches, or to spend time in the ocean, this isn't the place for you! The beaches are small, and the water is filled with coral/rocks. So just swimming and hanging out in the ocean is not great.
However, if you like snorkeling, this may be a good place for you!
Honeymooner359
There are three beaches. The Coral Beach, near the pool, is harsh on the feet, so you want to wear water shoes. I didn't get to visit the adult beach near Lookout Point, but the Sunset Cove beach is nice and sandy, very shady. The Cove is also nice for swimming, although there are occasional coral reefs if you aren't careful. Again, I recommend aqua shoes.
EfDeal
They have four beaches to choose from. Coral Beach (adults only) and Sunset Cove are the nicest beaches. The Las Brisas Beach is a little rocky do take water shoes.

Its very easy to book excursion trips once you there. There are multiple locations in the lobby with more options available than I was able to find online. Just look into them and their dates when you check in.

Very easy to do once you are there. There are several places to book excursions in the lobby. SHop around, they all have different prices. Each place was anywhere from $2-$10 different from another. Book once you get there so you get the best deal. Only one option when you book ahead.

Cash or credit card?8 answers
Hi,
I've read reviews recommending to bring lots of $1 and $5 bills for tips but I was wondering whether I should also bring some cash to use the Spa or buy things at the gift shop or book any excursions or will I be ok with a Visa credit card?
5 years, 72 months ago
Philadelphia
Resorts do accept cash and credit cards. However we do recommend that you bring cash as credit cards have an international charge.
CaitlinCC
We had no problem using credit or debit cards at all.
SanDiegoPandS
You'll be fine with a Visa for those things.
Emily09002
We took cash & kept it in the safe. Credit cards will tag on a 3% fee. We opted for the cash because of this reason. It's up to you.
ReefGeek
Credit card is fine for the spa and purchases, but some of the items at the Watersports require cash deposits. Snorkeling gear, for example, is a $25 deposit, cash only.
EfDeal
I would recommend both cash and credit card. Probably easiest to pay for excursions with a credit card. Use your $1's and $5's for tipping.
TonyaW
You will be ok with cash or Visa just don't take American Express (they didn't accept it at the water sports and we had to go back to the room and Get a Visa or master card. The spa is a little pricey so you may wan to charge, I think it is $150 -$190 for a couple message.

Yes. Good advice for bringing small bills. They do accept credit cards at the spa, for excursions, gift shop & water sports.

There is an adults-only pool located on the Lady Hamilton side of the resort a short walk from the main pool.
DawnCC
There are 2 adult only pools (18+) - one at the spa, and one on the "Lady Hamilton" side of the resort. However, be warned... there were a ton of families there when we went, and even though there were a couple 18+ spots, it really seemed to be a family resort. We just returned from our honeymoon there, and feel it was a bad choice for us!!
Honeymooner359
Yes, there is a private pool and an adults only beach as well.

I believe the only adult pool was at the spa area. There are a few pools throughout. One really large one then a couple of smaller ones. Honestly, even though there are kids there they are less bothersome than some of the adults. We left our kids at home too and didn't have any problems.

Yes, bring money for tipping. Better service when tipping. Truthfully a buck or two at a time is all you need.
TonyaW
it says tips are included but we found out from my husbands cousin that they love $2 bills they r very rare over there and we got excellent service for the tips we did give

Tipping is not required, but we brought money for it. We didn't leave a tip for everyone or for every time we ate or drank, but we did for those who gave us exceptional service. I would recommend bringing some.

Yes we typically take between $60=$90 each to tip throughout the week. Tipping at each buffet meal a couple of dollars and a few more at a la carte restaurants. $5 for the maid when we arrive and $5-$10 when we leave. $2-$5 for the bartender on every third drink.

I'm not aware of any free transfers but they do offer some shopping trips to Negril through the tour groups that are on site.
TonyaW
I don't know what you mean by free transfers, but there is shopping at the resort. The resort has a few stores (a very large gift shop, 2 clothing stores, and a watch/camera store). This was definitely enough for us.

There is a shopping trip to Negril, I think it is $30/person it also includes Sunset at Rick's Café. There are boutiques and shops on site as well. Don't forget you will have plenty of time to shop at the airport as well an there are a plethora of shops there.

they do have snorkle gear you will need to leave a $25 deposit which you get back. If you have the room I would recommend packing your own. Theirs is ok but not in the greatest of shape

I have never used the snorkeling gear from this resort as we travel with our own gear. f you are a serious about snorkeling, I advise to take your own. We have rented the motorized boat to take us out deeper. The best beach for snorkeling is the adult Beach Coral Cove.

They have different options to purchase in room wifi. You can purchase an hour for $6, 30 minutes for $4 and I think a whole week for $70. I can't remember what the daily rate was.
You can also access wifi for free in the lobby which is what I did.

What is the average $$ amount to tip at the bar and dining rooms?8 answers
5 years, 69 months ago
seekonk, ma
$2
Cally
i tipped $1 per drink at the bars, $2-3 for buffets and $5 for the restaurants upstairs.
MarciaIk
Tipping is done at your own discretion. Tip what you feel comfortable when you receive good service. The staff will appreciate being rewarded for their efforts, and be more inclined to do their best to make sure your stay is extra special.
BILLCC
At the bar, we tipped $1 (US) per drink normally. For breakfast and lunch between $3-$5, for dinner between $10-20. Gratuities were already included in our purchase price so this was just extra because we are accustomed to tipping.
RoadLessTraveled
we tipped about $1-$2 per person per drink at the bar and $1-$2 per person at the restaurants
samiam947
Usually at the bar we tipped a dollar or two depending on the bartender and for the restaurants usually around 3 or 4 dollars depending on the service.
IrieEmpress
We take roughly about 60-90 dollars each for tipping throughout the week. We leave a couple of dollar on the table at each buffet and a few more if it is an a la carte restaurant. We tip the bartenders between $2-$5 throughout the course of getting rounds, maybe every third drink we get. We tip the made when we arrive $5 and then $5=$10 when we leave.
Pumpkin
$1 per drink. For good service we left $20, for average service $15. For the buffet $6 - $10.

How far is the resort from local shops and restaurants? Is it safe to go in just a group of 2?6 answers
5 years, 65 months ago
Mei
The resort is located near the village of Lucea and approximately 40 minutes from Montego Bay. We always suggest taking the appropriate precautions as you would in any unfamiliar country.
MariaCC
I think it would be safe to go with just 2 people, but I probably wouldn't recommend it.
I would, however, recommend doing the day trip to Negril. It will cost you between $15-$25/person and you go to Margaritaville, Time Center (shopping) and Rick's Cafe.
DaveP
Safety is not an issue. Negril is close by and I would say go check out Ricks for the cliff diving. You can book a group excursion at the hotel or ask the bellmen for a suggestion for a private tour guide and you will be just fine.
OBXCOUPLE
I would not walk in a group of any amount. The street are very narrow & they drive like maniacs there. There is not very much close to do around the resort. Take an excursion to go shopping. It will be a lot nicer & safer.
JLM932
About 40 to 45 minutes to the Duty Free shopping outlets in Negril and Montego Bay and ask for cabbie James Bond he will take good care of you. The also have an excursion for very cheap that will take you shopping and to ricks cafe to eat and watch the sunset.
Chadon
They have gift shop, and few other stores on property, as well as their own restaurants. Best to stay on resort for safety. Closest city was Lucia, about 10 minutes away, though I would NOT recommend wandering around a small town like this for safety sakes!! At the Grand Palladium lobby there are about four companies offering excursions, and they will arrange all aspects in a safe manner. One we had great luck with was Amstar... we spoke with Dana who was very helpful and knowledgable.
There is a 7 mile beach in Negril, with many resorts and restaurants within walking or taxi range. Have heard from many people however that staying within the confines of an all-inclusive resort is the safe way to do it. You can also go out on excursions with groups of people and a guide for safety.
Brianfromohio
Does your "all-inclusive" include top shelf liquor? Also does it include wine, if so what brand?6 answers
5 years, 64 months ago
Pam
The resort offers local and international drinks of premium quality. For the specific wines please contact the resort directly. Thank you!
LizCC
The all-inclusive plan includes domestic and local brands. Not top-shelf or imported brands. House wine is included. Please call the resort directly for specific brands and they change frequently.
AlixCC
The liquor isn't top shelf. The only liquor I saw that could even be considered top shelf or not "rail" liquor was Jim Beam. They push the Appleton Jamaican Rum a lot, which isn't bad. Most of the time, I just asked the bartender to make me their "special" drink, and they typically always tasted good and had enough liquor in them to get your day going in the right direction :-)
They have a "house" wine that's included by the glass/cup, but if you want bottles of wine, you have to buy it.
DaveP
Mostly middle of the road...There is a top shelf option that you can pay extra for but they had my Jack, Jim Beam, Appletons Rum, and Grand Marnier for after dinner. A few nicer wines are available but very over priced. The house wines were paletable for having with diner.
OBXCOUPLE
Middle of the road everything. Good but not exceptional liquor or wine.
Southerner
Wine is not included. You can get it with dinner. Not sure of prices, but the Italian place had a decent selection. We drank mainly rum punch & basic drinks, not sure of top shelf drinks.

Not much unique shopping within the resort. There are many tours that will take you off the resort to shop.

Lot's of opportunities for shopping especially if you take any extra excursions or hire a taxi.

Yes - you can get souvenirs there on the resort (but are less expensive off of it)... and there is a location on the resort that also schduels the tours and outings.
donnad
Yes there is a bus to take you to buy souvenirs, the bus will also take to the famous Rick's Cafe for lunch $15.00 per person
Poochie49
There is a day trip to Negril that if booked online is not pricey. During the trip, you stop and shop at an area ironically called Times Square shopping center. There you can buy rum and other items. About 25-30 minutes from Grand Palladium. Also, if flying in an out of Montego Bay, stop and shop when leaving or heading back to the airport.

There are 2 main lobbys--is the Jamaica side to the right and lady hamilton to the left. Then further, the "hotel" is broken up into villas that are numbered on each side of the lobby. So on the Jamaica side its I believe 11-22. So 11 would be closest to the main building area. #11 isn't too close. We stayed in #14. The higher the #, the further away you are. So at checkin just ask them to be close...we said we didn't want to be too far from the restaurants and pool (which are in the middle). The distance from the main building in the jamaica to hamilton side is not that far...but if you end up being in a far room, it would seem very far. Im not sure about the sweets and rooms joining. We had a junior sweet with 2 people and it was more than enough. We had a couch, chairs,. very spacious!

Get as close to the main lobby/pool as possible. Even the closest rooms are far enough away where you won't be disturbed by the noise and you'll appreciate not having to walk so far to the main area.

I'm not sure about smoking rooms. But there are lots of designated smoking areas. Also lots of ashtrays around the resort that they are good about emptying and making look nice. (They sculpt the Palladium logo into the sand on a daily basis... at least)
Kbroske4

They only brands I recognized where the Appleton rums. Stay away from the Taquila!
juliehl2
Please be advised that liquor brands may vary depending upon the resort's availability.
MariaCC
appleton, some top shelf brands in a few of the bar restaurants, only beer is red stripe
skaggswoman
I am scotch drinker, and they had only red johnny walker.
nasser
Appleton is Jamaica's own produced rum, so you will see a lot of that. Other than that, the only bar that you will find premium liquor is at one of the bars upstairs. All of the other bars and restaurants serve house wines and liquors.

Spa amenities6 answers
What hours does the main pool open and close? Also, is the lazy river and pool in the spa area free or is there a charge to use this?
4 years, 59 months ago
Toledo, Ohio
The spa area has many free amenitis, hot tubs, sauna, but you have to pay for items like massage, pedicures, facials. I love laying out there its so tranquil. Not sure what time the main pool area closes, but it will close if it rains.
juliehl2
I believe 9-9, the lazy river is in spa and there is a $15 charge and not the lazy river that I thought it would be. but the pools and hydrtherapy in the spa are great
JammingGeorgia
Most resorts throughout the Caribbean and Mexico close their pool and beach at sundown. However, for further information regarding this inquiry and for information regarding additional amenities the resort may charge, we do suggest contacting the resort directly as they would be best to assist. The email address for the resort to contact them directly is reservations.jamaica@palladiumhotelgroup.com.
MariaCC
I'm not sure about pool hours, but the lazy river and pool in spa is free if you have a treatment done, otherwise it is $10/day.
Kbroske4
did not use spa, however, several guests in my group said that they had the best massage ever!!! gym ok, pool and lazy river looked nice.....think that pool is only for spa clients.
skaggswoman
Spa was outrageously over priced and the lazy river was nothing to go there for. It was a huge disappointment.. Hot tub and no jets that worked, the pool had debris on the bottom.

The beach is man made. The best beaches are in Negril according to our tour guide.
Poeticlady88
Do not go to this resort if you want a beach vacation. the beach is very small. and the water is full of growing weeds. the sand is very rocky.....this hotel has a very large pool only... was not happy with this resort....
njrtb
The beach area is manmade at this resort. The resort is very large and has several beach areas. Most are rather rocky. The Sunset Cove beach at this resort was the best beach area.
Farkie
There were 2 very small beaches. They had very rocky brown sand with soem kind of sand crabs running everywhere so you had to wear shoes. The water was very dirty. It was not blue like you think Caribbean would be. I've been to about 12 different beaches all over the world, this was by far the worst and the smallest. One of them is pretty easy to access, the other, you have to take a trolley. One did have kayaks, and that was alot of fun. They also smoke marijuana openly on the 2 small beaches.
cindylob
There is a secondary beach called Sunset cove. It's paradise.
The main beach looks man made to me. Lots of rocks in the sand.
Mattbenson
the beach area is ok, but definitely not spectacular. If beach is your main thing go to another carribean island that is primarily know for that. Jamaican beaches are pretty rocky, except for just a stretch in Nigrel.
wildcat6565
The beach is in poor shape. Very little sand as a base. The sand is rocky and is hard on the feet. When you step into the water my feet actually sunk 3 to 4 inches into the sand
MDMM
The beaches in Negril are white sand. The beaches at the Grand can be grittier, more coral here as well.
laurand
There are multiple beach areas. They are all rocky to some degree. They are small and the sand is more like coarse sand. Certainly not a white sandy beach. They have small roped off swimming areas where they have removed the rocks so you dont hurt your feet. All in all, not impressive other than the view.

Ladies, what would you recommend to bring for clothes?5 answers
Obviously bathing suits, what is typically worn for the night? Skirts or dresses? For shoes, flats or are wedges ok?
4 years, 53 months ago
Boston
Sundresses are always a good option in the Caribbean, especially during the warmer months. Flats are always a good option, in a tropical climate, some floors may become slippery with the condensation.
KristenCC
I wore my bathing suit (bottoms were a skirt) with a tee-shirt over the top to the all you can eat buffets.. We didn't go to any sit down dinners. Shoe's were what is comfortable- you could do a lot of walking if you don't want to wait for the shuttles to and from your villa to main resort, ocean, etc
roserenee
Same as listed before me but you might want to consider water shoes for the coral beaches and comfy loose clothing n case you get a sun burn. It is quit humid. Oh, and maybe a hat of some kind.
Big50
It is casual. You can dress up for your evening meal, if you like, however most people do not. Nice comfortable clothing is the norm. As for shoes... comfortable, you do a lot of walking
Nicekittycat
Most of the ladies (including myself) were in dresses or skirts for the evening. I packed 2 pairs of shorts and never wore them. I wore a sporty little dress for one excursion and a sort of athletic ware skort for the other one.
Flats are a good bet but if you pack heels....make sure that they are wedges. Regular heels might be tough going as some of the walk areas are cobblestone.
I packed one light sweater and wore that twice while I was there. I tend to get cold and was a bit sunburned so you may not even need one at all.

Dozer2008
Wasn't to far away, and worth the trip especially if you use a private taxi because you can come and go as you please and get to see so much more.
JenHarley
About a 40 minute drive. There's a guide tour place inside the resort that you can look into. The place is called "Cariba" if I'm not mistaken. My boyfriend and I paid $25/person, and that includes the bus taking us from the hotel to 7 mile beach, to times square to shop and last to Rick's cafe, and back to hotel. The $25 just for the bus, but for those cost, it is not bad at all.
Indonesia22
Everything is relative, however, I would say no. It would take well over an hour to get there. I did go to Rick's café, via Catamaran. And yes, I jumped off the cliff and watched the sunset. I was not overly impressed with Rick's though. I was crowded, loud, the menu, typical American bar food, high prices (typical for tourist spots) I would only recommend stopping here, for the experience, as part of another excursion.

Sports Bar
Open 24 hours.
Casino Bar
Slot machines. Daily, 6pm-2am.
Boogie Woogie Disco Bar
Dancing and drinks. Daily, 11pm-2am.
Shane99
There was plenty to do for every age. The mix of guests leaned toward the young side, but not too party hearty. The alcohol after five required a trip to the bar areas only, restraunts also served after five. The casino is very small and old, but shows were surprisingly good.
Kathiebr1
The age range is extremely varied. Shows going on every night and You make it what you want it to be. You stay busy all day so all night partying is rough but fun.
Gotta go party at Rick's and Margittaville in Montego Bay. Take a private taxi. You rent them for the day and they know all the cool party spots. Most partying is done during the day.
Plus you get so spoiled
JenHarley
The adult shows always starts at 9.30pm at night. When I stayed there, there was Jamaican Night, Romantic Night, Bonfire Night and etc. You do not want to miss any of the events. The show is usually an hour long. There is a club inside the resort so many people go there after the show. I'm 24, and without even have to go outside the resort.. I had a blast. Many people our age too.
Just so you know, marijuana is legal there. You can easily find it everywhere. You find people smoking or can smell it right away at the lobby at night time. Definitely not the best to bring your kids, because overall…. its Jamaica.
Indonesia22
The shows were not too great, there is a mix of age groups, any where between 20 to 60.

Be careful for there prices on the excursions though. They are going to tell you to come and meet with them the next morning in the lobby. The excursions were pretty costly. Try to shop around or purchase your excursions before arriving there. Make sure you have transportation to and from the different excursions because Amstar is expensive.

How is the beach for swimming and snorkeling?5 answers
Two years ago I stayed at the Holiday Inn Sunspree in Montego Bay. The snorkeling around the sandbar was great, but that was about it as far as being in the water. The beach was too shallow to do anything but wade. Most of the inlets you couldn't swim in because they were too filled with seaweed and were barely above knee high; the only area deep enough barely was waist high until you got to the back side of the sandbar while snorkeling.
Has anyone stayed here and can give a review of the beach area? We ventured down to Ocho Rio and up to Negri and the beaches were much deeper; however, we really like how centrally located Montego Bay is and would like to find a resort that has a great beach.
Thanks!
4 years, 48 months ago
Jenni
The beach is still shallow but has improved on the cleanliness. As for the snorkeling it is available and good.
Shane99
smorkeling is great at coral beach or sunset cove. lots of fish and coral and HUGE sea urchins! both are located on the lady hamilton side.
aishpat
I didn't snorkel there, but others were in Sunset Cove on the west edge of the property. It's a large deep area sports cove and relaxing beach just for Palladium guests.
SandyPlaces
Beach at Grand Palladium was tiny and at the very far end of the resort--maybe 2 miles from our room.
Kansas12
Beach here is small sections with rock jetties. small area for snorkeling and not a lot of swim area. Shallow depth to the sand area of the beach making it rather cramped, the resort was not very busy either. Snorkeling was ok, but nothing to excite. One guy dove down and found a couple nice conchs.
I'd keep looking at other properties if your focus is for snorkeling or swimming. If you have small children it is ok for sand and water play. It has a really nice little water park area for kids.

CaitlinCC
One word, Expensive
Nicekittycat
I wouldnt rent a car. Driving here can be very confusing. Taxis were helpful and convenient but expensive depending on your destination.
I spent $100 on a taxi who took us (4 people) on a personal tour where we stopped for shopping, Margaritaville, Ricks Cafe, a local restaurant, and the beach in Negril. He stayed with us the whole time from 11am-9pm. Definitely worth it. In contrast, it wouldve cost me $250 for him to take me Dunns River or Chukka and I wouldve had to pay the admission to get in separately. It might have made more sense to book the excursion package in that situation. Shop around and get quotes. The AmStar people in the lobby are helpful and can price the excursions out for you. Then get quotes from the taxis and add it to the admission cost to compare.

This resort is a large property, with many building. The resort does offer shuttles around the property. For building locations we suggest you google the resort and look at the resort map.
CaitlinCC
There are two adjoining main buildings, and many room buildings..you find a resort map here.. https://www.palladiumaddict.net/jamaica-lucea/?c=resort-maps
There can be a lot of walking if you choose, but you can also call for a cart-they get there quickly, and you can also call ahead for one.
WiscoTravellers
There are lot of buildings. The ones around the main pool area were right by the ocean, but a lot of them were not. You should request a room by the ocean. It was pretty spread out but you could walk anywhere within 5-10 minutes.
VickiC
I Googled a map of Palladium Jamaica and found the one they gave me at check-in (link below). There is a good amount of walking, however there are shuttles that go around the property constantly or on-call.
Stay hydrated and wear quality shoes / flip-flops.
https://www.palladiumaddict.net/images/891.jpg
SandyPlaces
there are several buildings around the resort (more than 8) and some are kind of far from the main area where the restaurants and shops are (not miles but a pretty nice walk). Nice thing, if it's raining they do have covered path ways and grounds are pretty to look at.

It is a largr compound but regular shuttle service is provided.

Grand Palladium Jamaica, shares facilities with the Lady Hamilton next door. This is where the beach is located. Depending on your room placement it may be a 5-10 minute walk over to the beach.

the resort has 3 beaches. none of them are particularly large or beautiful. they are rocky and man made.

The resort is right next to the beach. the pictures on the web are accurate to how it actually is!
willow2016
There was a small beach close to the pool, but the best beaches were probably about a 5-10 minute walk.

There are several beach areas just over the retaining wall from the massive pool and then the beach at Sunset Cove on the west end of the property.

Yes, all domestic alcoholic beverages are included in the all inclusive package.

Yes but not all kinds. No whiskey in one bar. No light beer.

All mixed drinks and beer are included you even get a daily fully stocked fridge with beer water and other drinks they have plenty of bars to go and grab a drink from, all buffets serve beer and some of the mixed drinks too!!!
Lizzy00
Alcoholic beverages are included but they were only average. They had a real thin fruit juice and the choices were a little limited. I would get a drink made with the slushy machine. They advertised lite beer but there really wasn't any.

The are several bars that you can mingle at during the day, and at night there is a disco and casino available.

Do not stress about weather! This happened to us as well, the days leading up we assumed rain rain and more rain.....it's not the case. If it rains it's a passing shower, and we stayed in the pool the whole time! It rained every day at least once when we were there, an hour total maybe a day. Enjoy!
Jennybath
I found that the weather we looked at on the internet really wasn't correct. They said rain a couple of days and cloudy every day. It only rained for about 2 hours one morning and was sunny every day except one.
VickiC
Lounge around the bar. Stand out in the rain, dance and sing - singing in the rain. Not a whole lot to do when it's raining.

We had great weather while we were there, but they did have lots of things listed as rainy day options. Bingo, card tournaments, Karaoke, crafts, etc....)

Gratuity is not included, taxes are, or were for us. Come ready to tip. They are up front about asking.

Gratuity, no. Tip your waiters. They are lucky if they get $20 a week per the bus driver. If you get off the resort, you can see that to be true. Some people have to walk or bum a ride that takes several hours to get to work.

Can you rent jet skis on the property5 answers
I know this is not included in the price, but are there any jet skis available for rental on the property?
3 years, 46 months ago
ohio
Jet ski rentals would likely need to be booked separate from the vendors which the resort sponsors on site. The hotels typically would not offer this activity due to liability issues. The same applies for activities like para-sailing, even though there may be 3rd party vendors nearby that you can arrange this with.
CCGreg
No- they do have some water sports, but jet skiing is not one of them. Snorkeling, kayak, paddle boarding, and I think boats to rent. But not jetskis.
Jennybath
We did not see any motorized water sports there.... but I'm not 100% sure. You should call the Grand Palladium directly.
kdod17
No.
Little sail cats, sea kayaks & other non-powered sports are free at Sunset Cove on the west end of the property.
You can hire other services there tho; deep sea fishing, etc...

Unfortunately there is no jet skis. Only non-motorized stuff such as kayak and pedal boat. There is snorkeling but I believe you have to go a bit far from the resort.

It's a fire show on the beach with a dance party following. Very nice time. They set up a bar and have a great DJ. Although I went there with my 11 year old to see the show and the DJ did play uncensored songs with lots of curses so we left. More for adults.
Lawgaw
It is a party where the attendees are encouraged to wear white. Any color will do, but if you have white clothing, you are encouraged to wear it. There is a band and the bar is open. It's a fun time!
SherryR
The all white party is held on Monday nights at the beach. It begins with the staff dancers getting you "pumped up" and having a dance party on the beach. Then a fire show starts where they dance with fire and such. Then it ends with a massive bon fire on the beach, this was the only night of entertainment worth going to the entire vacation. we were there Wednesday to Tuesday.
LMD08053
You dress in white and they have an open bar on the beach with entertainment.

On 4/30/15, the Palladium Hotel Group advised that the Grand Palladium complex in Jamaica (Grand Palladium Lady Hamilton Resort & Spa and Grand Palladium Jamaica Resort & Spa) will be undergoing renovations from June 1, 2015 through December 15, 2015 that will result in improved dining options, updated room decor, and restored beaches. During this time, there will be temporary beach and restaurant closures but alternate options will be made available to guests. Please note that the beach closures are being done in phases so guests will always have access to a beach. Noted below are the restaurant closures:
-The Bhogali - closed August 1-November 1. Guests can enjoy The Bhogali menu at El Agave twice a week.
-Lotus House - closed September 1-November 1. Guests can enjoy the Lotus House menu at Restaurante Xaymaica twice a week.
-Poseidon - closed September 1-November 1. A temporary BBQ station will be set up on Las Brisas Beach.

The adult pool is located AT the spa area which closes at 9pm.
The building is on the lady hamilton side. I stayed in #38 and when you walk out, the spa is literally RIGHT there.
The buffet is a little further, but no more than a 3-5 minute walk. There are always shuttles going to the main entrance if you do not wish to walk.

DOES IT COST MORE TO STAY AT THE GOVERNERS SUITE,AND WHERE IS THAT LOCATED?
3 years, 44 months ago
Dolly
Yes. I believe it was about $30 more per day, although when I booked the trip as a package, it was a lot more. But, if you wait until you get to the hotel, they offer it for only $30 more, but they may not be available. It was not worth the upgrade. My kids stayed in the junior suite and I found that to be better. The governers suite a/k/a the one bedroom suite it just a smaller bedroom with a separate living room which we never used. My kids' junior suite (which is really their regular room) had their "living room" area open to the bedroom area so it just looked like a bigger bedroom. The closet and bathroom are exactly the same. So I would not upgrade. I would prefer the sitting area to be open to the bedroom area and essentially have a bigger bedroom

Unfortunately there has been an increase of seaweed, specifically Sargassum Seaweed throughout Mexico and the Caribbean recently. Please call our Beachologists for more information and updates.
LizCC
We just got back and the beach was amazing! There was a little bit of seaweed but nothing that spelt bad or got in our way. I was really nervous because of all the reviews but we enjoyed our time on the beach. When there was a really bad storm that would bring seaweed up there would be workers from the resort the next morning raking it all up. So it was never and issue for us.

I found the beach/sea water to be beautiful and very clean. They are very eco-friendly at the resort and seem to protect and take pride in the quality of the beach/water. The water is clear so you can see exactly what nature is in it.
SherryR
The water is definitely clear, there are areas with rocks and seaweed that grows on the bottom. There are areas that clear for swimming though. There are two main beaches, sunset cove is a bit of a walk but worth seeing for sure.

Yes. I went on a Catamaran Snorkeling Adventure. After about an hour ride, we launched from Margaritaville in Negril. We traveled a short distance to a reef. I snorkeled for 45 minutes. It was pretty good snorkeling. Some people just swam, while other just stayed on the Catamaran. Then we went for another short ride to Rick's Café`. That was ok. It was loud and crowed. I did jump off the cliff, which was an experience. Y.O.L.O.! The sunset was beautiful. I was not really impressed with Rick's overall, but it is part of the whole experience. The crew on the Catamaran was great. They were fun and gave all the ladies a foot massage :).

There are plenty of salespeople in the lobby who will arrange this part of the trip for you. We had to travel about 45 minutes by bus for the catamaran party but well worth it. You are dropped off at Margaritville, snorkeling, party cruise, go to Rick's café for an hour and back to the bus. 9 of us went, and was one of the best parts of the trip.

There is a disco bar, casino, and sports bar all open late. The resort provides nightly entertainment in the early evening (usually a live band, DJ, or dance ensemble).
CCGreg
It depends on what you like to do - they had a nightly "theatrical" performance that was average, then they have bands that play above the main pool and the bar is open and there is dancing. Then, there is a theme party after that. You can stay up til 2 or 3 am if you want to or go to bed at 8. It is very quiet and relaxing in the villa area and then the main area is the life of the party.
SherryR
NOTHING! the entertainment was AWFUL. The shows start at 9pm and are 1/2 hour long. They do have one night where it was until 10. They had a bon fire until midnight (held on Monday nights). And the shows themselves are boring.
LMD08053
They have a disco that opens at 11 and a sports bar that we went to every night. Also a casino and they did do
Some kind of live entertainment at 9:30

This place has lots you can do at night. Yes, you can dance, we danced every night. Yes you can sing karaoke!

pool hours and depth5 answers
During what hours are the pools open? How deep is the deepest pool? Swimming is important to me.
2 years, 36 months ago
USA
Most resorts pools close between 5pm and 7pm and are about 4-5ft deep. Please check with the resort directly for the most up to date information. If you have any further questions, you may contact the resort directly or call and speak to one of our Beachologists at 1-800-915-2322.
TimCC
During the winter, I believe the pool is open from 8 - 6 and then in the summer months (daylight savings) the pool is open 8 - 8. The pools are not very deep. I would say 4 feet at deepest. But...you can always swim in the ocean just a few feet away!
RappMazur
only about 4.5-5 feet but its more a safety concern.
Not sure on exact hours but we were there by 9am some mornings and they seemed to close around dark so say around 7pm
NickT14
3-4 feet there open till 8 pm with lifeguard after you swim at your own risk
Rickeya
i think they were open all night long and the deepest pool is about 6 feet deep and it's in the adult pool area.

I actually went to Cancun and Dominican Republic and I hate to say it, but I found this one to be the best of all of them. You really get what your money can afford so if you don't upgrade you may be dissatisfied.

Not sure, but I was disappointed as well, whirlpools didn't work, shower doors drug against granite, the smell of waste strong during a lot of the day. we just returned from there and the staff seems to have a don't give a care attitude. We won't be returning!!!!

I definitely agree about needing maintenance. I freaked out when I saw the jacuzzi in the big pool had the lights cut out and the wires still in the water.

But Grand Palladium Jamaica Resort does not need no repair at this time. I have been to all restaurants and every parts of the hotel. I talked to many people. Never heard a complaint.

Does Grand Palladium Jamaica supply toiletries in the rooms?5 answers

You get the typical small bottles in the rooms. 2 of each. Shampoo, conditioner. Lotion. Bar soap. But when they see the tray empty, they will restock.
magliobride
They do supply an endless amount of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, soap and body wash. Tooth brush, combs, etc also available upon request. The quality is decent, smells nice.
LMD08053
Yes they do supply toiletries, towels, and hair dryer.

They provide shampoo, conditioner, bath soap and shower gels. The quality is okay. The bottles are very small. I bought my own shampoo and conditioner and I was glad I did.

My husband and I stayed in the junior suite and it's double the size of your standard American hotel. The bathroom is huge. It has a standing shower and a jacuzzi. The room has a sitting area and it's spacious.
Bello
There is not much difference. They both have seating area (couches very worn and tattered) and a bathroom. Biggest difference is the 1 bedroom has 2 balcony/patio areas. The jr suite the jacuzzi is in the bedroom/ seating area. 1 bedroom it is in the bathroom.
Irymama
The Junior suite is just one room with a bed and sofabed all in one area; there is no wall or anything separating the living area from the bed.
NecNec
Junior suite it's a studio, and it's enough for a couple without kids for my opinion)

There will be a dive shop/water sports shop near the beach. You can talk to their reps about setting up to use their equipment. The hours usually are normal business (9a-5p).
CCGreg
Yes all free although there aren't tons of them. Many people don't use them so not a wait or a short wait. I believe they open by ten am...
Jamaicans work on their own time and are laid back. So strict hours are not followed
First come first serve. You can sign up that day
Sissi
The catamarans were free AFTER you took a $30. lesson, so I don't consider that free. No reservation, just first come. It wasn't busy and they had several kayak and a stand up paddle board. Lots of beach game available, too.
parischarlie53
They are free, however, it is first come, first serve. When we were there, their was not any wait time and they seem to have more available if needed
Nicekittycat
The water sports you mention are free, they generally run from 10-4 and you can easily sign up when you arrive or for same day activities.

Nicekittycat
There are several companies who set up booths in the main lobby and they sell excursion packages for trips off of the resort. I went on two: the luminous lagoon and the Dunn's River Falls and river tubing. Both were incredibly fun, safe, a great opportunity to interact with Jamaicans off the resort, and a good value. I booked through Amstar (since I had bought round trip airport transport from them when I finalized my cheapcaribbean purchase) and thought their service and options were great.
Gemily
We did 2 excursions while we were there. (Mayfield Falls & 7 Mile beach/Rick's Café). Both were tours we booked through the hotel. There are guys that will offer to take you wherever for a few hours for a set price. This venue does not offer a large water park; however, Black and White Junior Club for kids ages 13-19 is FAB. Teens can immerse themselves in a selection of movie titles, video games, card games, pool basketball, and other organized activities. The staff does a great job at keeping them busy and happy! Plus the teen club is open from 11am to midnight. I've been to venues with water slides and often the kids do at the start of the vacation and then stop. Hope this helps and happy vacationing

How to get privileges at sister hotel ? Does free kayak and catamaran need booking in advance?5 answers

2)does one need to request these privileges before arriving to main hotel?
3) does one need to request/book in advance the free catamarans, kayaks etc? ( we are going in august 19-24)

You would have access to certain parts of the sister resort, please check with the resort directly for details, and no they do not need to be requested before travel, if they are restaurants, they may need reservations.
TimCC
If you're staying at the Lady Hamilton, you have access to the entire resort. You don't need to request anything. It's included in your package.
You do not need to book anything for the kayaks, paddle boarding, paddle boating, snorkeling. It's all included. If you opt to do a snorkeling "excursion" you could book that upon your arrival. Hope this helps!
Dfcook520
You have privilege to the whole resort. The sailing is free unless you need lessons. The only reservations that are required are to the hibachi restaurant. Suggest you make reservations for each of the dinner restaurant that you can when you arrive. Italian, seafood, steak, Mexican and Asian were all excellent!
COLDDUDE
All restaurants and entertainment were included in both sides, no prior request needed. The watersports are all at sunset beach and it's first come / first serve. We were able to use them all multiple times every day.
SUNNFUN8
You get the same privileges at the sister resort no matter which side you stay on. It's basically all one resort. You do not have to book kayaks or catamarans in advance. Just walk up and sign a waiver and they give you one. There is a 25 dollar deposit to rent the equipment though so be sure to bring cash with you.

There's also a little tiki bar and watersports at this beach, and it's still included in your resort amenities, so you can leave your money at home. The only swim up bar is at the largest pool in the resort, but it closes at 5pm so get there earlier in the afternoon. The large pool is amazing.
MissKrisNC
Yes the swim up bar is awesome and so is the jerk hut.
