Best Resort Ever

We have been on 4 other all inclusive vacations and this was overall the best resort we have been at. It was absolutely beautiful and the view from the Ocean View Rooms was reasonable and well worth it. Some of the pool bartenders were not overly friendly and didn't seem to want to serve you at times (we tip). The food was by far the best food that we have ever had at an all inclusive resort. I loved that they changed the theme every night at the buffet. The only negative I would say was the breakfast food was not very warm but there was a ton of variety and they were very good at restocking. We ate at the Japanese, the Steakhouse and the Italian. They were all wonderful. On of the highlights and brightest spots of our vacation was the daytime entertainment staff. They played great American music by the pool and had activities that people of all ages and abilities could do. Our favorite was Mekesha. She was absolutely wonderful and knew our names after the first day. We looked very forward to seeing her beautiful, smiling face very day. The nighttime entertainment was not good at all, but there were also activities on the terrace that were great (music). The terrace bartenders were also very good. I love to try different places but would be very tempted to go back to this beautiful place because of the food, views and Mekesha.

HONEYMOON RUINED!!!!!

I CONSIDERED MYSELF AN AVID TRAVELER. I TAKE MY TIME, CONDUCT RESEARCH, REVIEW DIFFERENT RESORTS / DESTINATION AMMENTIES AND IF ALL FAILS; I RELY ON PREVIOUS TRAVELER RECOMMENDATIONS. EVERY YEAR MY GROUP YOUNG PROFESSIONALS ADULTS TAKE A COUPLE’S TRIP TO SHARE EXPERIENCES AND GAIN KNOWLEDGE ABOUT DIFFERENT STAGES IN RELATIONSHIPS. THIS WAS A HORRIBLE TRIP. CHECKING IN - THIS TIME AROUND SINCE ME AND MY HUSBAND WERE GETTING MARRIED AROUND THE TIME OF THE TRIP, WE DECIDED TO POSTPONE OUR HONEYMOON DIRECTLY AFTER THE WEDDING TO TRAVEL WITH OUR FRIENDS. TO OUR IMMEDIATE DISAPPOINTMENT, AS SOON AS WE ARRIVE TO THE HOTEL WE ENCOUNTERED ISSUES. JUST THE SIMPLY TASK OF CHECKING IN WAS A DIFFICULT TASK. ALTHOUGH WE UNDERSTOOD REQUESTED ACCOMODATIONS WERE NOT GUARANTEED, BUT THE FRONT DESK CLERK WE WERE DEALING WITH WASN’T PLEASANT AT ALL UNTIL ANOTHER CLERK STEPPED IN. AFTER SWITCHING OUR ROOMS, WHICH WE COULD SEE ON THE KEY CARD SLIP, OUR PARTY WAS SEPARATED FOR THE FIRST FEW DAYS. ROOM ACCOMODATIONS – ALTHOUGH THE ACCOMODATIONS WERE DECENT, IT WAS NOT WHAT I EXPECTED ESPECIALLY I HAVE STAYED AT THIS VERY SAME RESORT YEARS BACK ON A GIRL’S TRIP. THE ERROR I MADE WAS RECOMMENDING THIS RESORT, WE PROBABLY WOULD HAVE HAD BETTER SERVICE ON THE “ADULT ONLY” SIDE SINCE THAT’S WHERE I STAYED BEFORE. OUR WINDOWS WERE LEFT OPEN AT SOME POINT WHICH CAUSE MOSQUITOS TO TAKE OVER THE ROOMS. AFTER THE STAFF CAME OVER TO SPRAY THE ROOM, IT STILL NEVER FELT THE SAME. FOOD – THE FIRST AFTERNOON ARRIVING THE FOOD WASN’T DESIRABLE AND LOOK LIKE IT WAS LEFT UNATTENDED / UNREPLENISH AT THE SEA SIDE BUFFET / BAR. AFTERWARDS THE FOOD WAS GOOD BUT THE SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE AT THE MAIN DINING BUFFET. ON SEVERAL OCCAISONS WE IGNORED, RECEIVED SLOW SERVICE OR NOT TEND TO ALL WHILE OTHER GUESTS OF THE ANGLO / EUROPEAN DECENT WERE WAITED ON HAND AND FOOT. I FELT COMPLETELY DISRESPECTED AND COULDN’T WAIT TO LEAVE THE RESORT TO DINE AT OTHER LOCATIONS. THE TWO DINNER RESERVATIONS WE HAD WERE THE BEST SERVICE WE RECEIVED BY THE STAFF BUT BY THEN IT WAS THE END OF OUR TRIP. SAFETY / CUSTOMER SERVICE ISSUE – WHILE STAYING ON THE RESORT, AN ACCIDENT OCCURRED WITH ME AND THE STAFF WAS SLOW TO REACT OR ASSIST. ONE OF THE BRIDGES TO CROSS OVER THE POOLS HAD BEACH SAND ON IT WHICH MADE IT VERY SLIPPERY. ONCE I REALIZED THAT, I ATTEMPTED TO PROCEED WITH CAUTION BUT BEFORE I COULD GET ON THE OTHER SIDE, I SLIPPED AND FELLED ON MY SIDE. MY HUSBAND ATTEMPTED TO GET ASSISTANCE FROM THE POOL AND SECURITY STAFF BUT WAS IGNORED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE NEARBY STAFF WAS BUSY GETTING PERSONAL DRINKS FROM THE BAR AND FILLING IT IN A SPRITE BOTTLE TO CONCEAL THE FACT THE WERE DRINKING ON DUTY. THE STAFF CONCEALLED THEIR IDENTITIES AND WALKED AWAY FROM HIM. THE STAFF DIDN’T EVEN ASKED IF I NEEDED A FRIST AIDE KIT, WHICH THEY DIDN’T HAVE NEARBY. WE OBSERVED THEM GETTING IT FROM SOMEWHERE AND PLACING IT AT THE BAR BUT NEVER OFFERED. MY HUSBAND ENDED UP GOING TO THE FRONT DESK TO GET ASSISTANCE AND WAS STILL MEET WITH RESISTANCE. AFTER DEMANDING FOR A SUPERVISOR, IT WAS AT THIS POINT THREE SUPERVISORS EMERGED. ONE OF THEM BY THE NAME OF “NISHA” HEAD THE EFFORTS TO ENSURE I RECEIVED PROPER CARE BUT DAMAGED OF THE INCIDENT WAS ALREADY DONE. THANK GOD IT WAS JUST SOME SWELLING AND BRUISING, BUT I WAS THANKFUL IT WASN’T SERIOUS BECAUSE AT THAT POINT, I COULDN’T TRUST THE RESORT WITH MY HEALTH IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY. MY HONEYMOON WAS COMPLETELY RUINED AT THIS POINT. WE WORKED REALLY HARD TO SAVE UP TO GET MARRIED AND POSTPONED OUR HONEYMOON JUST TO BE HIGHLY DISAPPOINTED LIKE THIS. I CAN NEVER RETURN TO THIS LOCATION.

BEAUTIFUL RESORT POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE

THE RESORT POOL AND BEACH ARE STUNNING. The majority of the staff does NOT smile. The poolside entertainment was great. The nightlife needs major improvement. The shows end early and leaves nothing to do but go to a club with a younger crowd and the Kareoke bar that smells horrible. The casino is a fail and the employees are nasty. I went there for my 50th bday and regret it. We booked a dinner at the Garden Grill at 9PM and did not get served until 10:15PM. By the time we cut the cake it was almost 11PM> Went to the village and again only the club and Karoeke bar were opened which we did on day one and had no desire to do again. We sat outside and drank cocktails and watched guests walking around looking for something to do. The pool closes at 6PM and NEVER stayed open later. I will go back to the BREATHLESS resort in Punta Cana for sure! Who wants to go bed early while on vacation! Especially if celebrating something special! While checking out we were asked if we would come back and when I responded no they did not even bother asking why! That just proved my point on how horrible the customer service is! I will admit not all but the majority of the staff needs training on how to WOW the guests! What a shame since it is a gorgeous resort!

It was okay but I won't go back

The trip started horrendously with my wife discovering 2 large larvae in her food from the buffet. Not sure if there were more (that may have been eaten) but she spent the first night throwing up 4 times throughout the night. I really just wanted to leave as this had an effect on the whole trip. What made it worse was the guest support management. They kept saying they'd "take care of us" but did little. For instance, the manager said he would give us an extra night at one of the non-buffet restaurants and then baulked. He also said he'd help us out with an excursion, which was apparently to point me to the booking person. Air didn't work in our 1st room but they moved us. Or should I say we checked out and back in on day two. The next room had a toilet that wouldnt stop running and a fridge that hardly worked. They were prompt in fixing the toilet. Back to the guest management, they said they sent some Champaign to out room but we moved rooms. I told her our new room number and they said they'd send it to the new room. After another day, we had to go ask for the Champaign! They left a warm bottle and some fruit in the rooom later. On the last full day, we had no wash cloths. We asked a group of cleaning ladies and they just said they were out. We just went without the rest of the trip, although it was only one day. The entertainment group and the pool bar staff was the highlight of the trip. They kept us involved and active. The lobby area, village and atmosphere around were nice as well. The grounds were kept up and the rooms were clean. Other than the larvae, the food was decent, especially the jerk ckicken. The food incident was certainly unfortunate and disgusting. However the guest services was way too "cagey" at trying to make it right. I really didn't want much and wanted to keep the trip going for my family. It just seemed every time we tried to take them up on their words, it was some sort of negotiation. In the end they gave us nothing but promises and vague offers. Can't really describe it any other way....words. (other than Champaign and 3 robes for us 4 to use!). It was frustrating to hear "We are going to take care of you", then...nothing. I don't think I'll be back to Jamaica. I will be sure to put this out on other travel review sites as well. I will be interested to see if this and the pictures of the larvae get posted.

What's to Love

It's an all-inclusive beach bonanza for every member of your fam-bam.

The white, cabana-ish tents that hug the pool and provide shade while you chillax.

Being greeted by colorful, fresh bougainvillea on your massage table in the spa.

The two coolio, curvy pools that are a coconut's throw from the beach.

What We'd Change

The beach is a little pebbly, so make sure you bring your water shoes. The upside is that it makes for truly excellent snorkeling right off shore.

Why You Should Go

It's 75 minutes from Mobay airport. Don't fret. You'll be greeted with a welcome cocktail soon.

The beach is a bit pebbly, so bring your water shoes.

Before your flight home, hit Club Mobay at the airport for A/C, drinks and lots of spoiling.

Book your airport transfers with us before you arrive. You'll avoid a lot of headaches.

When you enter the open-air lobby of this Victorian-style resort, you'll immediately feel the Jamaican breezes wash over you. Next, you'll encounter a sea of white, wicker chairs on the expansive porch (they're oh-so British), where you can sip a cocktail and soak in all the awesome of the lush grounds. Grab a Red Stripe from the swim-up bar while your kids can descend into a splash frenzy at their own pool.
