sunscape review

The resort grounds were well kept and the paths and lighting at night was illuminating. The Geotubes in the ocean was a negative distraction. The blue water of what the Caribbean should be, was coffee colored due to the fact they where actively adding sand to the break water wall 200 yards from our shore The erosion of the beach was due to the "climate change" , And the smell of what appeared to be sewage wafting through the air on the beach was unbearable along with the piles off seaweed through the first two days. The 3rd-5th days the seaweed was picked up and the smell had diminished. There was a party pool that kept people whom wanted high energy entertained, as well as 3 other low energy pools to relax by. A volume of food to enjoy, however ,no shrimp? And the drinks were served with discounted liquor ,no Jim Beam whiskey, Tanguery gin, and red wine served cold? Rooms were kept clean daily with flowers on bed in the evening.

Girls trip @Sunscape Bavaro

My friends and had a great time. Resort was beautiful. Staff was pleasant. The comfort of our rooms was great. I had the pool view and friends had the beach. We couldn’t complain at all. I was also glad i didnt upgrade to “vip” section. It was overly crowded. More family type. So We were happy with out it. The only thing wasnt happy about was the beach. It looked brown and not swimable at all. Sad to hear this place is closing down.

Sunscape Bávaro Punta Cana

It’s been a week since we left SBPC. First of the , the weather was lovely. Perfect weather for relaxing and getting a tan. When we first arrived, the staff at Bávaro weren’t as friendly as we have had at other resorts. We almost felt like we were imposing on them in order to get our rooms. We had paid for Deluxe Ocean front rooms. We had requested 1st floor and adjoining rooms. While I get that those accommodations arent promised or guaranteed, we were told they were not available until we upgraded to SunClub then the rooms were available. Which whatever, but for anyone booking you may want to hold off on upgrading to Sunclub until you get there so you have some wiggle room. Food: as you may have read in previous posts, the food is not good here. Some of it you can get away with, but you really need to be selective. Don’t eat a lot of the fruit or seafood. 3 people in our family were violently ill for 3 days of our trip and we deduced that they did eat mainly fruits and seafood. While there, a lot of the restaurant were closed so options for lunch were minimal. In addition, the one night we wanted to make reservations for Chosticks it was closed for a private party. Why one of their main restaurants would be closed on a Friday night for a private party makes no sense to me. Our primary option for breakfast lunch and dinner was Windows buffet and that had pretty much the same food day in and day out. We tried the Italian restaurant, but we were disappointed with the selection and the quality of food. The pizza grill is only at 3pm and by that time the only option for food, so you have to wait in long lines as they make the pizza and customers scavenge to get a slice. Beach: not much to say here. Due to the seaweed, it was unswimmable. Not the hotels fault, however be aware that if you pay to upgrade your room to beachfront you have 2 main concerns. 1: the smell is horrid and gave us a headache. It literally smells like sewage. 2. Every night they start rebuilding the beach at 6pm. That means that numerous large trucks and tractors go back and forth until midnight. Not a relaxing environment and the fumes from the diesel is bad. Staff. Cleaning staff is friendly however they do not understand English. So if you need something it is very difficult to get it. We need an extra pillow and no matter what we said they didn’t understand us. Same thing for towels. The front desk staff was rude and unwilling to be helpful. When we upgraded to Sunclub we were told that included WiFi for all of our devices. For some reason we had an issue with one of the codes and they told us it wasn’t their problem but was ours. The Sunclub staff is a bit uppity and rude also. One would think they would be a bit more accommodating, but that wasn’t the case. We would joke with the new people we met there about how we all felt like we were imposing on them whenever you asked for anything. I could really go on and on but basically we won’t be going back there. I think we will stick to Aruba.

Semi Resort Failiar

This was my first Caribbean vacation and very disappointed with the beach. The resort is beautiful and workers were polite and very friendly especially Jeffrey from the wet bar; very young hard worker always with a smile. I was very disappointed with the beach at this resort. I’m a beach lover and there was No clear water. I was told the bearer broke of this particular resort. There were men working every night and morning trying to fix the issue. Due to the beach problem, I had to spend more money on an Island to have 1 beach day instead of just having pool days at the resort. Anyway, I said “yes” t would refer a friend only because everything else went well. Oh...the food was good but I wish there one restaurant that was Dominican at the resort.

Kids get a passport that will kick off a scavenger hunt (read: keeps them occupied so you can chill)

The Pirate Ship Excursions - grab your eye patches and hop aboard.

The teal waters that hug El Cortecito Beach, which will hypnotize you for hours.

Swimming with dolphins - Bucket List item you must do.

Scuba diving - there's a fee, but dive in. It's a memory-making kind of thing.

Snagging a boat over to the sublime Saona Island - an unforgettable day trip.

The indoor theater with spectacular shows. Order a drink and prepare to be "wowed."

What We'd Change

Sometimes it's hard to find complete peace at the pool, but this is a family-friendly resort so lots of young ones will be splashing around.

Why You Should Go

It's only 25 minutes from the airport - Instant Happiness is very close.

You can go reef exploring, whale watching or for less water, hang out in a floating spa.

Isla Catalina is near and has dramatically beautiful coral reefs for snorkeling & diving.

The resort can arrange an intimate dinner - just for two - in a variety of romantic spots.

Play a round at the Cocotal Golf Course designed by the famous Pepe Gancedo.

Hoyo Azul, a natural lagoon of crystalline water, is 38 minutes away. It's breathtaking.

Water sports rule here with catamaran sailing, snorkeling cruises, and deep sea fishing.

The 16th century Mediterranean village, Altos de Chavon, is a must-see.
